  1. "One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line." - President Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998 "If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program." - President Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998 Iraq is a long way from [here], but what happens there matters a great deal here. For the risks that the leaders of a rogue state will use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons against us or our allies is the greatest security threat we face." - Madeline Albright, Feb 18, 1998 "He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten time since 1983." - Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Adviser, Feb, 18,1998 "[WE] urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq's refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs." - Letter to President Clinton, signed by Sens. Carl Levin (D-MI), Tom Daschle (D-SD), John Kerry( D - MA), and others Oct. 9,1998 "Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process." - Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), Dec. 16, 1998 "Hussein has ... chosen to spend his money on building weapons of mass destruction and palaces for his cronies." > - Madeline Albright, Clinton Secretary of State, Nov. 10, 1999 "There is no doubt that ... Saddam Hussein has invigorated his weapons programs. Reports indicate that biological, chemical and nuclear programs continue apace and may be back to pre-Gulf War status. In addition, Saddam continues to redefine delivery systems and is doubtless using the cover of a licit missile program to develop longer-range missiles that will threaten the United States and our allies." - Letter to President Bush, Signed by Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL,) and others, December 5, 2001 "We begin with the common belief that Saddam Hussein is a tyrant and threat to the peace and stability of the region. He has ignored the mandated of the United Nations and is building weapons of mass destruction and the means of delivering them." - Sen. Carl Levin (D, MI), Sept. 19, 2002 "We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country." - Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002 "Iraq's search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power." - Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002 "We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction." - Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, MA), Sept. 27, 2002 "The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October of 1998. We are confident that Saddam Hussein retains some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capabilities. Intelligence reports indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons..." - Sen. Robert Byrd (D, WV), Oct. 3, 2002 "I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force-- if necessary-- to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security." - Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9,2002 "There is unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons and will likely have nuclear weapons within the next five years ... We also should remember we have always underestimated the progress Saddam has made in development of weapons of mass destruction."- Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D, WV), Oct 10, 2002 "He has systematically violated, over the course of the past 11 years, every significant UN resolution that has demanded that he disarm and destroy his chemical and biological weapons, and any nuclear capacity. This he has refused to do" - Rep. Henry Waxman (D, CA), Oct. 10, 2002 "In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members.. It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons." - Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct 10, 2002 "We are in possession of what I think to be compelling evidence that Saddam Hussein has, and has had for a number of years, a developing capacity for the production and storage of weapons of mass destruction." - Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL), Dec. 8, 2002 "Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction ... So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real" - Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan. 23. 2003 SO NOW EVERY ONE OF THESE SAME DEMOCRATS SAY PRESIDENT BUSH LIED--THAT THERE NEVER WERE ANY WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION AND HE TOOK US TO WAR UNNECESSARILY!
  2. I love that "right-wing liberal cutbacks". Guess what happens when you blow a billion on a useless gun registry? Guess what happens when you decide we need a billion dollar museum in Ottawa dedicated to government? Guess what happens when you give millions to your liberal advertising friends? Guess what happens when you spend $30 a year for every man woman and child on a media propeganda machine(CBC)? You don't have enough money for health care!!! wake up! People are dying waiting in line. But I guess I should look at the bright side, at least farmers aren't roming the streets with unregistered weapons.
  3. Lol MS likes the idea of the government taking care of everyone. Wouldn't it be nice if we didn't have to do anything. Our generation has this sense of entitlement that they should get everything for free. They seem to think they have a right to everything. Tuition fees are cheap in Canada but there never seems to be an end to the whining from students here. I went to school in the US and worked my butt off to pay twice as much in tuition. (It was worth it for the better education ). During the last election campaign I attended a debate where the green candidate, a young college girl, went into a rant about the injustice of having to live in a basement while going to school. She went on describing the horror to the applause and cheers of other students in attendence. I noticed a couple of the older folks smiling to each other. I was thinking join the club! We've all friggen been there! I'm sure the old folks were wondering how anyone could be complaining when they had lived in the trenches of war with rats and suffering from trench foot. Having running water was a luxery and here this spoiled tree hugger is complaining about living in a basement.
  4. Right wing policy cuts? How long have we had a liberal federal government? How long have you had liberal and NDP governments in BC? I'll concede that cuts to health care are not a good thing. Klein certainly hasn't done good things for my province in that regard. I think government realize that with such a large porportion of tax dollars going to health care, it just isn't sustainable the way we do things. I really don't see the problem with having private clinics in a regulated atmosphere. I think the left has done an excellent job of scaring the hell out of canadians regarding this.
  5. Oh our lovely health care system. I know a girl in her early 20s just diagnosed with breast cancer. But she can't get in for the surgery till October. So she has a choice. She can wait and likely die. Or she can take out a loan and go to the US and get in right away. Meanwhile naive canadians are working hard to protect our great system from the evils of conservatives who want to allow for people to pay and save themselves.
  6. Ridiculous. The press by their own admission has a left leaning bias. Even the liberals propeganda machine, CBC, did a show on why the media is 90% liberal. You talk about the US media having control while the CRTC here at home decides what we can and can't watch. At least in the US there is somewhat of a balance between those who are liberal and conservative. Here we are 70% liberal. That isn't the result of a "balanced" media.
  7. Why? Is he blowing up the well heads and pipelines? Haven't you heard, everything is Bush's fault. Global warming, 9-11, terrorism, SARS, AIDS, Genocide in Sudan...
  8. Oh Canadians love to exalt themselves above Americans for their lack of knowledge about Canada. Yet Canadians are equally ignorant and arrogant about even their own country. Surprisingly even the CBC seems to agree on this one. "It's not the first time I've encountered this kind of ignorance. When I arrived at Carleton University in Ottawa to study journalism, some of my classmates wondered if I was there because there were no universities in Alberta. I am not making this up! Others found it curious that my parents would choose such a province to live in. They never spelled it out but it was always, "Oh, you're from Alberta? Really? I thought only cowboys lived there." Then the ha-ha." Call me a Redneck
  9. This is quite insensitive to the homosexual community don't cha think?
  10. I'm sure Layton would love more people to use mj. Think of how many more votes he'd get from all the apathetic, lazy pot heads. "Dude when's my welfare check going to get here, I've got the munchies bad!"
  11. This here is the difference between the liberal's and conservative's mentality. The lib's solution to every problem is to tax and punish the wealthy for working hard, and appease the complainers by throwing money at them. The right would rather provide a positive incentive for people to change.
  12. Probaly the same as it is to live in a "democracy" that allows the CRTC to ban FOX news from coming into my home. LOL
  13. This is so true. Clark was more liberal than most liberals in Canada. Remember his supporters "liberals for Joe Clark". Many politicians in Canada run for the party that they can win with. Trudeau and Chretien were closet NDP's but knew the only way they could ever get any power was under the liberal flag.
  14. That's awsome! tell me more! Ya I'm sure compared to your thinking Christiane Amanpour and Carol Lin are very "right wing" politically. Ted Turner too eh? And spare me the obscure lefist websites, you know I could do the same lame thing by posting a bunch of obscure rightist websites and back and forth we go proving nothing.
  15. Well MS you opened the door for personal insults, I merely followed suit. If you'd like to continue on that road join me on a little forum called Destroy Canada
  16. I don't see what your point is I don't remember defending O'Reilly or Coulter. Of course I agree with certain aspects of what they say. But since you brought it up, maybe you should ask yourself why right wing talk radio is so popular and why Fox News is number 1 in the US right now. I would argue that the population has grown tired of the left leaning bias in the mainstream media. I will say this, although Limbaugh and Coulter are a little too radical for my liking, at least they back it up with solid facts.
  17. Right wing liar? Is mike moore such a sacred cow to you that you have to resort to adhominem insults to get your point across? I know this board seems to be your entire social life, because you're always here, so I'll go easy but come on. Attack Bush with credibility not cut and paste defamitory tactics. The only people Moore has credibility with are feeble minded anti-americans. I'm sure Moore is turning into quite the Canadian hero. Afterall that is where he gets much of his funding for his hate campaigns.
  18. What I find interesting, and quite hypocritical, is that California is charging Scott Peterson with the murder of his unborn child. This from a liberal pro-abortion state.
  19. Ever heard of the 1st amendment? The US constitution was inspired and is based on Christianity.
  20. No I think that better fits Ontario. "We are entitled to take what is yours and squander it as we please" Albertans are of the most selfless and compassionate people in Canada. We take care of our homeless better than anyone. We don't tax anyone who makes under 30,000. We volunteer more time than anyone in Canada. Just because we don't want our money to be wasted by you people doesn't make us selfish. You need to get over your sense of entitlement.
  21. The courts decided the change the legal definition of marriage. Unfortunate that we're losing the separation of powers here don't ya think? That's a good point. Why should we care? If our definition of marriage is dynamic why can't it be changed?
  22. Sorry I should have been more clear. Michael Moore likes to make foolish statements similar suggesting that Bush is an illegitimate president. It's amazing how you bitter people fail to forget that the recounts in Florida all favoured Bush. You also fail to mention that the poor ballet design was by democrats. I don't remember Bush saying that God told him to attack Iraq. Funny that the constitution of the United States is something that was conjured up by "religious whimsy". Sounds like you consider yourself better and above most Americans and citizens of the world who follow "religious whimsy". I'm sure we differ on what we consider "reputable". What I consider "reputable" is Alan Greenspan, the smartest living economist, stating that Bush's tax cuts have got the economy rolling again. When is the left going to drop it's myopic view of taxing the hell out of the wealth creators. When are they going to realize that if you take away the incentive for people to make money, they'll likely take their business elsewhere. It's happening here. Paul Martin doesn't locate CSL in the tropics because of the weather.
  23. The courts have decided that they can change the definition of marriage. They've decided they can infringe upon a word that many people hold sacred. A balanced approach would have been to allow 'civil unions' with the exact same rights. But unfortunately they had to throw it right in the face of religion makeing the interpretation of a word subjective. You can't have it both ways. If consenting adults want to marry more than one person that is their right under the charter is it not?
  24. Same sex marriage has opened this pandora's box now we're going to have to live with the consequences. Aside from instances where 14 year olds are forced to marry, there is no argument or case to be made. The courts seem to have decided that anyone can marry anyone or anything.
  25. I personally don't like guns. I don't trust other people with them. But we had enough gun control before we started this insane registry wasting a billion dollars. Why force farmers and duck hunters to register rifles or shotguns? Hand guns I understand because other than target practice they're designed to kill people. We should look at the swiss for gun control. There is a gun in every home in Switzerland. So why don't they have the same problems with guns that the US has? Perhaps it is a function of our culture of TV and movies that teaches people to solve their problems with violence. Perhaps we need regulate movies and video games rather than guns.
