  1. Geothermal is good in some aplications but not all. For instance someone said it would be a little harder to drill in the mountainous areas. This is wrong. Its one hell of a lot harder to drill in these areas. Cost would go through the roof. We have a pilling division to our company, one important factor we consider when giving an estimate is the soil composition analysis. If we find rocks, not solid rock, just rocks, the cost goes up in a hurry. For rock drilling you need specialized rock augers fitted with dragons teeth bits. You'll go through these teeth in a big hurry in rock and considering they cost three to four times what conventional teeth cost it becomes significant. Next is time. We charge $330.00 an hour for our Texoma and Hughes rigs, operators will cost you another $125.00 an hour. Factor in at least four times the duration for rock drilling and you can see where it would become impractical in a big hurry. There is no magic bullet when it comes to energy requirements, to think otherwise is to be a dreamer. All alternatives should be utilized, not just a select one or two.
  2. Thank you WB, I was hoping someone would would mention that principle, also known as the venturi effect. It's very interesting actually and is also the same principle that fire hose nozzles and jet engines are based upon, among many other things. It is interesting how so many people state "facts" when the "facts" have zero basis in scientific principle.
  3. Oh...okay, gotcha. I thought you were saying they had come up with functional wooden guns. A lot on my mind today, sorry.
  4. Thanks Guyser, I was going to bring up conduct unbecoming myself. Are you now going to postulate that image and behaviour are irrelevant BC? Is it your contention that anything goes so long as it is not specifically mentioned in printed word? If so then I would hate to be indoctrinated by such a mind set. The simple fact is that military members must be held to a higher standard of conduct than the average person. To deny this is to be deliberately obtuse or willfully blind to the truth. Then the intangibles of military service must be considered, things such as honour. An honourable man simply does not engage in such behaviour, at least not by any standard of honour that I've ever seen. Now, what the hell does a military members standards of conduct have to do with baby seals? Or is this just more of your inane, pointless rambling?
  5. Other than ancient Chinese firearms I don't think I've heard of wooden guns before.
  6. Man! Did this ever get high jacked! If the video is real then this guy is nothing more than a sadistic peace of crap. For those who try to deflect the topic or excuse him, there is no excuse, simple as that. If I had been deployed with him and he did that he'd have more to worry about than an investigation. The boys would have kicked the living sh*t out of him. Just because one is military does not mean a person is a heartless bastard. There is a code of conduct for military members and this individuals behaviour does not conform to that code. All irrelevant and childish mention of baby seals aside, this is about the unacceptable behaviour of a military member, not industries in other countries. As for killing people but not puppies. Well in all honesty I haven't seen any dogs totting AK's and beheading people with dull knives. Bit of a disconnect from reality going on today, eh!
  7. Really! I thought it was about the entreprenurial aspects of the car/burger industry.
  8. Well....what can I say? After all the preceding is absolutely unintelligible and makes no sense whatsoever. Please don't let that stop you though, your posts are without compare, no one else here can match your content.
  9. Well you wont find such disdain coming from me. Mine is solely reserved for the animal who did this. Standards have been lowered in the US, true, not here in Canada though. In fact DND has announced no problem meeting its recruitment numbers. When I still served they would send us to seminars and on courses dealing with morals and ethical behaviour. Not sure if they still do this but I know they used to. That being the case then yes, military people should be held to a higher standard of behaviour, they should know better. Its simple really. Do you want an organized armed group of men running around without the guidance of some sort of ethical compass? The short answer would be hell no!
  10. Very flexible when it comes to the Khadr's aren't you. No, she wasn't on local community TV, she was on Nation wide broadcast. So none of her children became bombers, does that negate her attempts to make them so, her advocacy for such things. Not to mention her hate mongering against homosexuals. It appears you are quite hypocritical when it comes to such matters and are willing to make any number of specious arguments in order to defend these people.
  11. All of those instances are disgusting. Deal with these people harshly and shut out the cries of "they couldn't help themselves".
  12. Actually she did a TV interview where she stated her belief that Homosexuals should be executed and talked about how she encouraged her children to become suicide bombers. Is that public or "published" enough for you?
  13. You're writing a book? Who's doing the pictures for it?
  14. It is a rather varied list isn't it. I'm one of "you people" too, because I chose to serve my adopted country for 20 years. That makes me a state sanctioned murderer, whoopee!
  15. AW, the point is that he is a high value target as has been pointed out. It's not about class or wealth, its about assessing risk and taking steps to minimize that risk. Knowing he is there and the regiment he serves with would ratchet up the risk factor for all involved. Yes, war is one huge risk, however that doesn't mean that you should increase the risk for no good reason. Cheap sensationalist stories for the titillation of the mindless masses is not in my opinion a good reason to increase those risks.
  16. Oh cool! You're back! Yay, more irrational rants, lots and lots of words but nothing worth hearing being said, good for you. So you don't have the talent needed to work at Burger King, you just sorta hang around and make a nuisance of yourself instead, is that it? In reply to your big spiel about the woman and kids and the guy, all I can say is SO WHAT? What the hell was that supposed to indicate, if anything? Perhaps it means something to you but given your undeniable lack of communication skills it means absolutely nothing to any normal person. I find the part about you sticking your head in shit very telling. People do tend to find their proper place in life and it appears you know yours. Anyway, please do post some more, it's hugely entertaining when you do. Gotta go now though, I have a meeting this afternoon. I'll use my lack of talent to determine all possible hazards on this new project, then in talentless fashion I'll spend close to a million for the materials required to get the project started. It aint flippin burgers but it puts food on the table and most importantly, its an honest occupation. So long then, or as you would say...ding dang a doodle loodle toodles to you.
  17. I was wondering if anyone would recognize the name. One of the greatest anti heroes ever written in my opinion. I first read Starship Troopers when I was about eleven or twelve I believe, yes, you're right, the movie was abysmal.
  18. Sorry double post, the next one should be sorry triple post.
  19. Actually Wild Bill you should look into that statement a little more closely. Our weapons are excellent, rated amongst the top worldwide. We made extensive modifications to the reference design in order to suit them to our varied and harsh climate. As a result we now have weapons that are accurate, robust and versatile. The smaller "accessories" we equip them with are also amongst the finest availlable, such as the scopes we use. The weapons are also subject to rigorous maintenance and replacement schedules so even though not new, each one is in top condition. In all the years I used the C-7 I only experienced about two stoppages, not bad at all. This doesn't have much to do with the topic but I just cant stand to see facetious and incorrect statements pertaining to such topics.
  20. What about Natalie Pasqua? Native female. Thats just one of the top of my head, I believe your belief is wrong on this count. I could be wrong but I dont think so.
  21. Fix Canada. Thats easy, I would ensure every Canadian household had a four slice toaster. See, easy.
  22. It would be nice if we could get some Oompah Loompah's to move here. They were green if I remember correctly.
  23. Adding a pittance to an already existent pittance won't drive us into debt. Our military has been starved for years now, of course there are those who would like to see that trend continue as they feel that militaie's are no longer a requirement of modern existence. Here's a news flash for ya. It would take far far more than that to bring us to U.S. military strength, as for standards, well our standards are already amongst the highest in the world. I've worked with U.S. troops many times in the past and have nothing but praise for these people. Honestly, I do not believe that any sinister ulterior motives exist behind this agreement. I believe you'd have to go a very far country mile to convince Americans of the necessity to attack or occupy their neighbour and friends (at least, some of us are). The troops themselves would most likely question orders such as those, I know for sure that Canadian ones would if the situation were reversed. Here's an eye opener for you. Americans are very much the same as us. They are not some fearsome boogeyman that wishes only to devour us.
  24. Can I be the spanking guy? I could show them how to get going on the breeding thing too.
