See! You did it again. You've left me wondering just exactly what do you mean? I understand the last part about how you hate but the rest about rides and crownland makes no sense. Are you saying that you're a car thief? If thats the case then why would you be proud of that?
-
Sorry, did I hit a nerve? So.....exactly what "leafs" have been plucked from your "limbs"? Which Government was it that plucked these "leafs"? Most importantly...what do you suggest we do in order to curtail this wanton "leaf" plucking?

Thats a very good question, I really don't think anyone can answer it, not even Omar. The questions we can answer however are, where was Omar when he was captured? What was Omar doing when he was captured? Was he willingly in a place where he would have to fight? Was his support of the familly/ideological goles firm and unwavering? Was he a combatant at the time of his capture? If the answer to one or more of those questions is yes then go straight to jail, do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars.

So in effect you are saying is that there is nothing inherently wrong with the transfer of prisoners? Do you think little Omar would have been happier if he'd been kept in an Afghani Prison? Actually I wonder if little Omar would even be alive today if he'd been sent to an Afghani prison. The bottom line is that good ole Omar chose his sides at an early age, those choices he made didn't turn out all that well. They did still turn out better than he should have expected though. He's still alive and has become something of a "cause celebre". On a seperate note. This is actually very true. You are not presumed automatically innocent until proven guilty. You are presumed guilty until proven innocent.

Actually I would think that if they punish the father it will be so he will learn. I highly doubt they'll be beating the crap out of him as an incentive to learn though. -
Is that what it means? I thought he'd just run out of weed.

Agreed. None of my Native friends live on the reserve, for the very reason you state, among others. They've told me that you cant have anything nice on reserve because someone who doesn't have what you have will come along and vandalize it or steal it. I can believe that. We've gone to the reserve a few times to give estimates, you always go two or three at a time for security reasons. One house we checked had a big hole cut in the bathroom wall and they were using the bathtub to feed cows. Another had a good portion of the roof burnt off, and the floor was very charred and unsafe. The owner had decided to have a traditional gathering in his living room. Open fires in the middle of the floor do not belong in living rooms. These and many more are the reasons the smart ones get off reserve and make their lives among the general population. For the most part they do quite well and are an asset to their communities. Of course you also get those who are drunks or drug addicts, but you'll find those types among all demographics. Well I think you got your message across quite succinctly ( I edited this because I was quite rude in my original answer and I didn't think I should have called the topic starter an ignoramus or mentioned how he seemed to have an IQ lower than my shoe size.)

I think he absolutely needs some education as far as these matters go. As for wether he should be punished or not, well I'll leave that up to the law. They have facts and details that I don't so it would be futile for me to try and second guess these facts and details. It doesn't really matter if you believe in spanking or not, this guy didn't spank. He hit the kid in the face hard enough to bruise, now that makes my blood boil. It also seems like a really perverse way to show love, not to mention a really crappy way to teach the child. I reiterate what I said earlier, the consequences this familly now suffers are the direct result of his actions. The school did not hit the kid, the social worker did not hit the kid, the cops did not hit the kid, he hit the kid. As such the responsibility is his and his alone, no shifting the blame on this one. He should grow up and accept the results of his actions, not try to deflect the onus onto some agency or organization. -

I see, well if he's leaving bruises on his kids then its probably correct to restrict his access to them. As for the kids deserving sadness, of course not, they don't deserve sadness. One must keep in mind that it is the actions of the father that caused the sadness. It almost looks like the father would like to be viewed as the victim rather than the children. The children now suffer some hardships as a result but not because of any government agency or school. The hardships they suffer are a direct result of the fathers actions, he should man up and accept responsibility for his actions and the fallout they created. -

I'm sorry but I don't really understand what you're saying here. Are you saying the kids were removed and he was arrested because he was teaching them at home as a supplement to their schooling? Or are you saying that he was molesting them so they were removed and he was arrested? Without being clear on this I really cant offer any comment with any real meaning. -
Although there is some truth to what Drea says I'd like to point out that not all Natives fit the stereotype. I believe I've mentioned several times in the past that I have Native friends. These are guys who go to work, take care of their famillies and homes, and respect others as they wish to be respected. The sad thing is that Natives such as this thread starter do more damage than good for Native causes. My friend (who is Native) was actually quite angry when I showed him this thread. As he said, don't associate me with his type (meaning the thread starter). The sad thing is that some of them are good but the ones who are bad smear all of their reputations and cast a very dim light over the good ones.

How can we trust the police?

Where is this new Canadian state? What did they call it? -
It is kinda catchy isn't it? Sort of like a doo ron ron a doo ron ron.

Okay...I'm still trying really hard to get your drift. So what does that mean and what does it have to do with anything? Okay, I figured out what you're saying now. Dont panic man, just look up near the top of the page. You should see a little log out link there. Just click on that and you'll be logged out. See, now wasn't that easy.

Now thats scary scary scary. -
when it comes to rap I keep a little saying in mind. "Rap is to music as etch-a-sketch is to art".

Sure, it's way more comfortable than a cucumber seat.

Very true, but then there really isn't anything new under the sun, just variations on a theme. The bicycle thing was hilarious though.

How best to defend our values against Suicide Bombers?
AngusThermopyle replied to August1991's topic in The Rest of the World
You know, your bacon grease observation could have merit. I've heard some people state that any Terrorist they kill should be buried wrapped in a pig skin. It would be one way to send the message that they aren't going to heaven or getting a bunch of virgins and young boys. -

Well I'd prefer my living room personally. Still, when those naked chicks rub themselves all over you, you take it where you can get it. -
Argh! No, stop! That is just way too hilarious! I'm still laughing at that article. What any horny man would do alone with his bike!

My level of offense would depend on how good she looked and whether I was allowed to pretend to be a Crucifix. Isn't two dollars really expensive for a trash bag? -
Awww, come on Drea! I just ate and didn't really need to be reminded about that. You know, no breasts, just big floppy shoe tongues. Now this statement is very curious. I must ask, what war? Next I must ask why we would want to stop you if it isn't our war? I'm trying really hard to find some point to what you say but it mostly appears to be incoherent ramblings. Have you been drinking?

Ahhh! Bisexual, good for you Oleg, keep blazing the path to a more liberated future!
