I completely agree with dialamah. It's very disturbing knowing that at this very moment somebody somewhere is actually considering doing herm to someone else; or perhaps not thinking much at all and inadvertently harming another. There's all sorts of wierdo's and goofballs in this world and this country harming others through all sorts of means and lord knows how many more who actually think bad thoughts! Planning to carry out bad things, fortunately, is a criminal act and the police can investigate and arrest such folks just like the Australians have and just as the RCMP have , now and in the past. I have no problem with folks living here - be they Canadian citizens or not - who do not harm others. It doesn't trouble me in any way whatsoever that some of them couldn't give two cents for the country. They pay the tax and obey the laws and all is well. What more can be asked of anyone? Love? They must Love us?

The law is considered to be a deterrence to others. How many folks think about committing crimes but then drop the idea when they think about the punishment involved should they get caught committing the crime ? Why, the numbers gotta be in the thousands at least? What should we do about an unknown number of people thinking unknown criminal thoughts? There aught to be a law ...

So? You're advocating for thought police and nothing short of that. I advocate all sorts of things that don't much agree with you or others. I actually have influenced people from time to time. Yeah, I don't get what Rue (or Argus) are asking for either. We don't like Nazi's. I don't want to live next to a Nazi or have anything to do with Nazi's. Yet it is not illegal nor criminal to hold Nazi beliefs. Therefor Nazi's should be banned from entering Canada because their beliefs are reprehensible but entirely legal. The same applies to mysogony, pedophilia and pretty much all the other things that the implied Canadian Culture and Values ordinances are aimed at. Non-Illegal activities are fine and tolerable. Religion is not taxing you. Not one cent is going to the mosque or muslims or Fatah. Any extra charge (if there is one) is going straight into the companies pocket. It is not a muslims fault that the company charges you more for halal food. If you still consider it a religious tax - then stop buying halal and stop paying the (to your mind) religious tax. The only reason you continue to pay this (to your mind) religious tax is because it is convenient for you to do so. Such is the depth of your animosity to religious tax.

Lets see.... In Canada we have women's rights, gay rights, religious freedom and equality. AND there are also muslims in Canada. In other lands they may or may not have women's rights, gay rights, religious freedom and equality. Therefore we must condemn muslims in Canada. Doesn't make a lot of sense.

Of course they were. And those that preserved the ancient texts were not trying to save Christian Europe either. But they did nevertheless.

You claimed that in response to Cyber's claim that Western Civilization was preserved through Muslims. Muslims did preserve ancient texts. Muslims studied them. Muslims produced their own works based upon those ancient texts. The Muslim Lords of Granada actually encouraged such things! Weird. But they read somewhere in the Quran that the Prophet said Education is important. Learning is important. Some Imams said that that was a proper thing to do. So they did. And Western Civilization arose from the Medieval as a result.

Don't forget the 4th Crusade. A very important Crusade that.

C'mon Dog, you're a student of History. You know very well that the West busted their arses trying to destroy Islam. Hell the Crusades burnt, looted and raped their way through Byzantine Constantinople destroying lord knows what knowledge. Alexandria wasn't the only library in the the world. But, at least you admit that the works of Aristotle and many other ancients, were preserved by Muslims - particularly of Granada - and the discovery of those works preserved by Muslims led directly to the Renaissance and the huge leap forward in Western thought. Good thing those Muslims did what they did.

Lots of people raped burned and murdered their way across the medieval world - hell even the Ancient world - hell even the modern world. Why single out Muslim armies as the Great Evil when everybody did the exact same thing? Ever hear of Vandals? Huns? Norsemen? Reconquista? 100 years war? Mongols? ever hear of Mongols? they were pretty nasty lot.

Because Muslims actually collected ancient texts and translated them and studied them. By doing so they became available to Europeans . or are you going to say that never happened?

So I gather. Rose coloured glasses maybe. I wonder if Argus has ever heard of appeals courts where, on occasion, lower court decisions are overturned due to judges errors. Or even an appeals court decision is itself overturned by the SCC due to judicial error. Why the entire legal profession is full of incompetent boobs! Making mistakes all over the place!
