  1. In this example, the bank already has $2100-$300=$1800 in loans outstanding to the bank can only lend an additional $90. Your calculations would only make sense if the bank started with $2100 in cash deposits. It still is a liability that the bank has and it costs money to pay for insurance and/or repossess a house. More importantly, the bank has to pay interest on the money it loans to the depositors. The net result is banks only make money on the difference between the interest paid to depositors and the rate of the loan. The bank doesn't pay the insurance, the purchaser of the home does! Have you not heard of CMHC, for example? mortgage loan insurance is paid for by the potential homeowner , to protect the bank!!! All cost of repossession are born by the insurer, the sale of the home, or the defaulting homeowner.
  2. 'spitting in the wind" hilarious! and may I say, wow, to all your assumptions, I don't know how you did it, but it is quite amazing! first of betsy, we are NOT the enemies of the Afghani's we are alleged to be there helping, rebuilding them, so, I don't know what you are talking about , and clearly you have a different agenda then one the gov is informing us of. secondly if you don't expect that Afghani prisoners of war to be allowed some types of appropriate pow treatment, then please do not expect canadians to be granted the same, when they become pow's. yet, I am certain you will be here shrieking &shrilling for those rights. Thirdly, it is of utmost importance they are given there appropriate rights, because as we have seen, too often, largely innocent people have been imprisoned, tortured, and died. Citing abu ghraib, in particular, which had about 90 percent of the prison population of people, inc. children who were just rounded up. They hadn't done anything, in partic, wrong place/wrong time. Then were subjected to beatings, rapes etc., "Heck, even Hitler thought he was righteous in ridding the world of Jews and other considered "garbage" of humanity. " yes, and Bush and the Bushites think they are righteous in ridding the world of Arab/Muslims, in the bogus war on terrorism because allegedly they have a 'world take over plan', lol, same claims Hitler made of the Jews! now that is chimerical!!!
  3. The video completely misrepresents the process of creating money via loans. When a bank creates money via a loan it assumes a liability because the person who borrows the money will spend it. If the borrowed money ends up in the another bank then the lender with have to provide cash immediately to the other bank to cover the value of the loan. This means banks generally will not lend money unless they have enough cash to cover it. Even if the borrowed money ends up in the same bank the bank will now have to pay interest on that money they created for the loan. The net result is banks only make money on the difference between the interest on the loan and the amount they pay in interest. The suggestion that banks make a profit equal to the face value of the loan is unequivocally false. when a bank makes a loan, using a house as an example, it assumes a liability, but really, it doesn't, as you pay mortgage insurance, first of all, that pays the bank if you default, and also the bank takes your houseif you do default. So, since the bank holds all the cards, if you don't pay, they really isn't that much liability to assume. Yes I realize this is oversimplified. Banks do not have to have "cash" to cover there loans made ,in any physical sense of the word.
  4. total failure, false intel, corrupt gov., total lack of leadership, failure to serve the Brits.
  5. Interestingly, in the US...... http://abcnews.go.com/Travel/story?id=3143...TC-RSSFeeds0312 California Man May Go to Prison for Kissing on a Plane A California man may pay with prison time for a public display of affection on a plane. Carl Persing was convicted Thursday of interfering with flight attendants and crew members after he and his girlfriend, Dawn Sewell, were seen "embracing, kissing and acting in a manner that made other passengers uncomfortable," according to a criminal complaint. Related Content According to assistant U.S. Attorney John Bowler, Persing will likely serve jail time for the federal felony conviction, the Associated Press reports. He was convicted after a three-day trial in U.S. District Court in Wilmington, Va. According to an FBI indictment, Persing's face was pressed to Sewell's vaginal area during the September Southwest Airlines flight from Los Angeles to Raleigh, N.C. When a flight attendant gave them a second warning, Persing reacted angrily and the couple, both in their early 40s, were arrested when the plane reached its destination. At the time, the couple's lawyer claimed that Persing had his head in Sewell's lap because he wasn't feeling well and that the flight attendant had humiliated and harassed them. so they were kissing, for sure, then maybe more, maybe not. as of late it is interesting to note airlines have been a little wacky with all manner of people so kissing in public, can get you jail time in the US! wackiness abounds everywhere.
  6. then please don't expect that Afghani's should be worried about Canadian prisoners either, right? because ?????????? dunno why people don't grasp, it work's both ways, other then a thought process that's see's one side as righteous , except that's the way the other side see's it also, it's the most cockamamie thinking.
  7. Vietnam, post-war Communist regime (1975 et seq.): 430 000, after the US left, does not come close to Sulaco's claim of "several million". Nor does it compare to the number during the war " the 5.7 million figure is here, and how it was tallied : http://www.rjsmith.com/kia_tbl.html "The Agence France Presse (French Press Agency) news release of 4 April 1995 concerning the Vietnamese Government's release of official figures of dead and wounded during the Vietnam War. HANOI (AP) - April 4. Translation The Hanoi government revealed on April 4 that the true civilian casualties of the Vietnam War were 2,000,000 in the north, and 2,000,000 in the south. Military casualties were 1.1 million killed and 600,000 wounded in 21 years of war. These figures were deliberately falsified during the war by the North Vietnamese Communists to avoid demoralizing the population. " Overall it is understandable to see why the General, says the pullout from Vietnam, did not see any catastrophic results, as compared to what the war and continuing occupation was causing. anyway, back to Iraq, looking at Vietnam, does also lead one to reasonably assume that Iraqi civilian death toll is likely 600,000 plus, thanks to the US invasion. Also, interestingly the US virtually charged the Vietnames with "terrorism', as they too, fought to rid themselves of their occupier. Still the only true terrorist is the invader/occupier. That is exactly how, I would see it if Canada was invaded, In fact IMO, that is how any Canadian would see it ,if Canada was invaded.
  8. i voted: Yes, individuals with guns guarantee freedom. BC BC: I am going to agree 100 percent with you on this particular statement. As this is how by and large the Americans I know feel about this issue. IMO, the founding fathers of the US understood why guns guaranteed freedom, IMO, it was largely, but not soley, for protection against tyranny, from their own government, as it had been alleged had been their experience with Britian. BC if you have a different opine, on that? But from many Americans this is what I understand is the case. Interestingly , the foudning father's didn't seems to crazy about standing armies, but an armed poulace was the way to go. Was this because they understood the concept of guerilla warfare? Wonder?
  9. It's Riverwind's example, and it's a massive simplification, but it does work to some extent. What it shows, however, is that Riverwind is wrong. You are right. Tables don't fall straight down unless the strenght of each and all the legs is overcome all together in perfect balance. Riverwind unfortunately and despite his/her numerous cheerleaders, has been wrong more then once, already.
  10. That was my point. One of the arguments that keeps being thrown out is that the fires weren't hot enough to melt the steel. This shows that it is possible for fire to weaken a structure to the point of collapse. cybercoma: "Whose to say that that kind of flex in the world trade centers wouldn't have caused them to come crashing down? Your assuming, the slight warping/twisting was from heat, it may or may not have been. It could have happened from the breaking away, of the structures from one another. Well as of now NIST and FEMA, don't say that. IMO it's not credible or likely. stignasty: But, I don't know that anyone , ever argued/s that fire will not melt steel, eventually, under just right conditions, as that is a senseless arguement. Example: welders with SPECIAL fuel mixes, melt steel to fuse, but note that is with specifc conditions. The bridge collapse as of yet hasn't demonstrated that, either. It still could have been faulty construction, shoddy bolts, welds etc., I don't see that anything concrete has been demonstrated yet. What it does clearly demonstrate is fire does not necessarily lead to catastrophic failure, nor pancake collapse, nor pulverized concrete That is quite clear. ALSO: if they are stating the steel is structurally sound, then heat was a non-issue, because, the heat did not alter the steel. Example: when steel is heated, the steel itself is altered. it's mechanical properties would have changed. More specifically it would have changed the tensile strength of the steel. Therefore, if the steel had been heated to cause any weakening, it would NOT have been declared useable, as it would have been altered in such a way that it could not be structurally sound.
  11. I totally agree, I was originally not the one making the comparison, that was stignasty, for clarification.
  12. wilber: I am coming from Planet earth, as a member of the human race, I am wishing for a European tour, after a lovely oceanic cruise, because I work to much! Does that answer, your totally irrelevant to the topic question?
  13. oh stignasty......... latest news re: the freeway collapse.............it's going to reopen, sooner then thought, likely some of it within ten days, guess why? it's structurally sound!!!!!! YUP! http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2007/05/03/...ay-Collapse.php http://www.guardian.co.uk/worldlatest/stor...6604264,00.html http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18447152/ "A highway ramp shut down by the collapse of an overpass near the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge won't have to be rebuilt from scratch and could reopen within 10 days, the governor said Wednesday." because why??????? "Investigators found that the steel girders holding up the lower ramp had warped but remained structurally sound and could be straightened, California Department of Transportation spokesman Bob Haus said." but remained structurally sound and could be straightened, but remained structurally sound and could be straightened, could you imagine, not only did that upper level, fall on that lower level, which then held fast and the steel remains structurally sound. and is going to be reused! Like I said this collapse dams the official story. failure to pancake, failure to pulverize the concrete. buildings completely pancaked and concrete completely pulverized, only on Sept 11th!
  14. I thought the same thing!
  15. wanna exchange irrelevant, but great song lyrics? "I was driving home early sunday morning through bakersfield Listening to gospel music on the colored radio station And the preacher said, you know you always have the Lord by your side And I was so pleased to be informed of this that I ran Twenty red lights in his honor Thank you jesus, thank you lord" or wanna have a discussion on a topic?
  16. Interestingly... On April 16, 2007, a major Italian network (Canale 5) has aired some conclusive evidence that Building 7 did not collapse on its own, but was deliberately taken down with the use of explosives. an excerpt from the series is archived here: http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?con...&articleId=5550 scroll down. click and watch the exerpt. what is most interesting, besides the video itself, is that in numerous other countries, 9/11 is discussed, televised, shows are made etc, on MSM, as opposed to alternative media in the US and Canada. Dutch, British, Italian For the rest of the series, go to luogocomune.net ( it is in italian) For those who are interested, this is the entire, 42 min. presentation that was aired on Apr. 16th by Italian Canale 5, divided in the following 5 segments: 1 - Intro + Military stand-down. 2 - Pentagon + UA175 3 - WTC7 (the segment you just saw) 4 - Twin Towers + UA93 5 - 2 touching testimonies by W. Rodriguez and David "We were also killed on 9/11" Miller.
  17. That's what they said about Japan in the 1980's....OOPS! They don't "cowtow"...they beat a path in stampede fashion to big juicy US markets...specially our #1 trading partner....CANADA. I don't think so, Japan, has long been nothing but a lackey of the US, right from ww2. Oh yes, countries cowtow, for now. Your big juicy US market, ain't so good lately. To much big US consumer debt, increased bankruptcies, so forth and so on. I believe China is going to use all those american dollars, to buy up assets ,worldwide, before the dollars lose to much value. We got Venezuela regularily standing up to the bully, the South American countries, Bush is sucking up to them as opposed to overthrowing and oppressing them. Then there is the whole India/pakistan/iran pipeline. China and Russia doing military exercises together. and on and on and on. the beginning of US impotence, is all there.
  18. Betcha can't wait to bow to Beijing and Tokyo instead. Things will be so much better. wow, a smear, how original.
  19. I understand what you are speaking about, but I think the General is speaking in a military sense, more so then all the rest of it. But you are correct IMO, the US needs to be there to continue to foment trouble, so while the iraqis are 'occupied' on many levels, the US can go about there business, of controlling oil, and by enxtension countries who rely on ME oil, building military bases, taking over the economy, etc., etc.,
  20. another thing it has been reported: Global Terrorism Rose Sharply in 2006 - WASHINGTON - So all the while the US is fighting the "war on terror" ,terrorism is increasing? The implications are obvious, the US "war on terror", is increasing terrorism, making everyone everywhere unsafer. This general is again right on the money!
  21. That's what they were saying in 2000. I think that regardless of a person's political leanings it would be hard to deny that the world would be a different place if the results of the election were different. don't think so, particularily wrt foreign policy.
  22. I don't know if you are correct, this is not the first time I have heard this type of comment wrt vietnam, upon looking i can find no indication that your statistic of several millions dying afterward is correct, DIRECTLY related to US withdrawal. It seems within approx 1-2 yrs after the peace accord, between the US, south and north was signed, things pretty much settled down. This after how many years of continual warfare under US occupation?? wrt: "the several million that died after US withdrawal" as opposed to the several million that died while the US occupied?? then died afterwards, from disease, malnutrition, slaughtering entire villages, then those that did and are still dying from the effects of napalm.?
  23. Guiliani, is a great big YUK! I tried to think of a better word, sleaze, perhaps. Ties to Bernie Kereik, alone, should make anyone shudder. sigh,,,,some people like politicians as dirty as possible I guess, it's a machismo! Hilary, she will win, over Obama. She is just Bush in women's clothing. Whovere wins, make's no diff, it'll be the same old same old!
  24. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/6618075.stm Sir Michael has written a book drawing similarities between the tactics of insurgents and George Washington's men in America's War of Independence. FINALLY some common sense!!!!! Hurray!!! historical perspective, reality check. the US and Britian can't REALLY admit defeat, as the intent would have, had to have been to win, since the intent was only to occupy, conquer and divide, build military bases to launch further attacks, control the oil, etc., defeat, wouldn't be realistic. Perhaps they could call it a stalemate, to save face, spin it in some appropriate manner for the 'true belivers" to feel good, and simply put there tails between there legs and leave.
