Cell phone service here is ridiculous. I pay twice as much here as I do in the US for crappier service.

What would Peter McKay do if he lost in a election?
Martin Chriton replied to Topaz's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The only way Peter McKay could possibly lose his seat is if the Conservatives do very badly as a whole in the election. In which case the current leader of the party would probably be fired and McKay could run as leader. -

Federal Budget 2007: More & Still More Government
Martin Chriton replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
This budget is an example of why minority governments don't work. Any budget produced by a minority govt is going to be an election budget. A budget that is concerned more with optics than with results. As someone who normally votes Conservative, I hope this budget fails. -

The Great Global Warming Swindle
Martin Chriton replied to dlkenny's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
So we're not suppose to questions things now? I'm tired of hearing this bullshit. Time to be educated -- we have this thing called the scientific method, you can wait until they teach you this in elementary school or read it here at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_method. The scientific method is not a recipe: it requires intelligence, imagination, and creativity. Further, it is an ongoing cycle, constantly developing more useful, accurate and comprehensive models and methods. This is what intelligent people do -- we questions things. I guess you were the idiot. -
I don't really understand this hard cap vs. intensity cap debate. Intensity targets seem like the clear winner to me. If economic growth is perfectly predictable, say you choose X as your hard cap. Your intensity target would just be I=X/# of units. Both schemes here result in the same outcome. When economic growth isn't predictable it gets tricky. Say technologically you can only produce units this year at intensity minimum Imin. Now you are given a hard cap, which prevents you from making more than Hard cap/Imin units even though your intensity may be lower than another producer elsewhere in the world that we end up having to import from because you were forced to shut down. It seems to me hard cap proponents are more concerned with optics than with results.

Harper's secret agenda is extremely simple, to get elected *again*. Dion's secret agenda is *much* *much* more worrying. With Harper we know what we'll get, but with Dion, who knows? For example, Dion knows the Kyoto targets are unattainable without major economic hardship. He is either a shameless liar or secretly plans to destroy provinces such as Alberta. Dion is a scary scary man.

The Great Global Warming Swindle
Martin Chriton replied to dlkenny's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
If you hear any scientist say you shouldn't question theory X, you should have serious doubts about what they're suggesting. Scientists that aren't even willing to question their theory should be ignored. Most likely, as that video showed, human CO2 output has had a negligible effect on the climate change we're seeing today. The one good thing that has come out of this CO2 scare mongering is the push to reduce our dependence oil consumption. Hopefully someday we'll get good electrical cars and more nuclear power plants. -
I Never Thought I Would See This
Martin Chriton replied to weaponeer's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Wow that's really mest up. -
Your poll is broken -- there is no debate on whether climates change. The poll should be something like: 1. Climate change is not occurring 2. Humans are responsible for none of it (it's all naturally occurring) 3. Humans are responsible for >0% but less than 20% 4. Humans are responsible for between > 20% but less than 80% 5. Humans are responsible for between 80% but less than 100% 6. Humans are responsible for 100% of the climate change Obviously anyone who'd vote 1, 2, or 6 is extremely stupid.

Not all lefties are like that, but I imagine a large number of them are. Most of the lefties I know are in low paying jobs and are for tax raises to help pay for social services. They believe the government can spend their money better than they can themselves. On the other hand, the fiscal conservatives I know are successful people, doctors, engineers, business owners, and some successful farmers.

Dion did not support Kyoto
Martin Chriton replied to Alexandra's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
No Liberal MP believes meeting the targets is possible. -
Harper DOES hate Canada, they never ran the ads about the army in the streets, and never said he was a baby eater. Case in point - the Liberals said much worse thing about Harper and some Liberal sheep still believe some of it. Unfortunately the only way to combat the fear campaign of the Liberals is to run a little one of their own.
-
I think they're just revenge for all the shit the Liberals said about Harper. As you may recall, the Liberals' entire campaigns for the few last elections were how Harper hated Canada, how he wanted to turn Canada into a military state and how he was a baby eater. The CPC's ads about Dion (at least the english ads) have nothing untruthful about them. Dion's record is abysmal and they correctly showed that out.

Who should have the Liberals made leader?
Martin Chriton replied to Topaz's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
What does everyone have against Iggy? He seemed decent from what I've seen. -
Those polls aren't a surprise. Dion was a really bad choice for the Liberals, I don't know a single Liberal that likes him. It'll take some major Harper screw ups to turn this around for Dion. The only thing that surprised me was the increasing Green support. Hopefully they'll manage to get a few seats in the next election.

Again, the cost structure isn't the same and it was he that made it an issue with the previous Gov't. What's your issue with his reimbursement? The difference between what he's paying and the actual cost of the flight is for security. Are you suggesting the PM should be responsible for paying for his own security? What exactly is "fair" in this case?
-
Looks fair. If Harper wasn't the prime minister he would pay the exact same amount as he pays now for a flight. While not perfect - it's still leaps and bounds ahead of the old Liberals.

Harper hits out from the gutter
Martin Chriton replied to hiti's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
As long as they don't cash the checks it isn't an issue -- something that they've never done. So it's really a non-issue. Even if they said candidates have to write two $500 checks, they could still technically run afoul of the rules if the candidate had already donated money. Until they start cashing more than the allowed limit there is nothing to see here -
I've noticed that a lot of left wingers these days form their opinions opposite to anything Harper or the US does. Some of them are extremely illogical.
-
It's not bad. Better than the other one that was posted. I got centerville as well.

LIBERTARIAN Your PERSONAL issues Score is 80%. Your ECONOMIC issues Score is 60%. The quiz is mest up anyways. Since when do conservatives have to disagree with: * Military service should be voluntary. There should be no draft * There should be no laws regarding sex for consenting adults
