The ethics committee sucked in by Schreiber?
Martin Chriton replied to Canuck E Stan's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I was being tongue-in-cheek. I don't really expect someone to step down, however, would like to see an apology -
The ethics committee sucked in by Schreiber?

Yeah, someone in the Liberal party should take responsibility for this waste of time and money and step down. -
Ugh another Liberal caught

Will the government stop schieiber from leaving
Martin Chriton replied to Topaz's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Politicians shouldn't step in. It should be up to ours judges to decide that. There is no reason why this dog and pony show couldn't continue even if he is extradited to Germany. It'll be interesting to see if the Liberals manage to lose a few more million over this http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/sto...5/BNStory/Front. -
The difference between those two polls is sampling error. It's highly doubtful anyone would be stupid enough to change their vote over something between an Ex-PM and a convicted criminal.

Dion and his Palace Guard in trouble
Martin Chriton replied to Canuck E Stan's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I think there are some Liberals that do want an election just not for the same reasons Dion would want one. For example, I'm sure some Iggy supports are really hoping for one. I don't really see a need to delay the process. -
Did Dion vote in French Presidential election?

Imagine if Harper was a dual Canadian-American citizen. Would the left be fine with that? I think not. -
Harper, is he more Alliance or Conservative
Martin Chriton replied to Topaz's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Uhh? I don't follow your post. How are people still confused by this? What does being green have to do with supporting Kyoto? Kyoto is trash, forget about it. -
Are you serious? It's definitely more of an attack ad than the CPC's truth ads. Watch them again: Liberals one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Amsct4190qU Conservative one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DqaNF0qIb0 The Liberal one was about how Harper failed the env, which is debatable. The Conservative one was just 99% clips from the Liberal's leadership debate.

How Much for Harper's Make-Up?
Martin Chriton replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Should our PM have access to some kind of stylist? Yes of course. Look at how big of deal some people in this Country make over what our PM wears, it's obviously important to some. Should he/his party foot the bill for excessive use? Yes. Should the public have access to know the stylists salary? If it's being paid with public funds, yes. -
The only people that that should be scared of a Harper majority at this point are fiscal conservatives. If Harper gets a majority the left would seem to win.

Tory Environmental Program Leaked
Martin Chriton replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
You should hold your elected representatives to the same ethical standards that you do of anyone else. Just because they're politicians doesn't mean we have to let them get away acting unethically. -
What do you think of Harper's plan today? Not rushed? It's hard say. I'll have to see more details, but if it's anything like Kyoto the CPC just lost my vote.
-
Nonsense. It was black scrawl on a yellow and black printed label. It contain no markers other than a movers' code 332-0. It's ridiculous for you to suggest that this was a clear label. This is what makes your argument so weak. It was extremely clear. I've been in similar circumstances when I moved office buildings. Since you're so wrong about this, it makes it hard to take your other posts seriously.

I was under the impression that any type of environmental program is a threat to the well being of the nation. I don't see anyone saying that. Any *rushed* program will be yes.

I think this could be an accurate statement. But, could you provide more reasoning for this position. They talk about meeting the Kyoto targets even though they know we can't. In fact that's all I hear them talking about. Kyoto is bad idea, they should let it go.
-
How so? It looks to me all it says is the Tories don't like the oppositions modifications to the bill. No shocker there. Hard to support plans coming from a party that thinks we can meet the Kyoto targets. If anything this shows that the CPC needs a majority to make progress on this file. The Liberals seem to be more concerned with optics than results.

Williams will remain popular as long as he plays against the federal government. As far as Tories winning a majority, not according to any polls recently. I think you summed it up nicely. Williams stance is meaningless. He'll always be against whatever party is in power.

Tories Release Dire Forecast on Kyoto
Martin Chriton replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Exactly. We need a new long term plan. Kyoto targets are way too short term. Forget Kyoto. We failed on Kyoto. If we wanted to do Kyoto we should've started back in '98 when we signed it. Set intensity targets so the economy doesn't come crashing down, then crank them up in the long run. As an engineer I have no clue how people expect us to innovate this technology over night. It takes time. -
Tories Release Dire Forecast on Kyoto
Martin Chriton replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Right. There is no such thing as innovation or creativity. No point in researching new ways to generate energy, or new manufacturing processes, or new energy efficient products, B. Max has declared they will never exist. Sure, whatever you say man. Exactly. The only way to meet the Kyoto targets would be to innovate and be creative! This takes time. We can't rush it. If we wanted to meet them we should've started a few years back. At this point, we should admit we failed on Kyoto, and come up with a new long term strategy. Forget Kyoto. -
Tories Release Dire Forecast on Kyoto
Martin Chriton replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I think the CPC is saying to take it slow and not rush into it. We can't meet the Kyoto targets in 2-3 years. If we wanted to meet them we should've started a few years back. At this point, we should admit we failed on Kyoto, and come up with a new long term strategy. -
I thought the payout was only a portion of the MPs remaining salary? How is that a "rich" payout? And don't we already have like 10 topics on this?

How Much for Harper's Make-Up?

Unfounded accusations about what? About Harper using public funds with no proof?
