Liberals to slash military spending
noahbody replied to Scotty's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Sadly, other countries took this position when our soldiers could've used their help in Afghanistan. I guess it's okay, because they were being 'more useful' staying out of harms way. -
What Bible Thumping aspect?

No kidding. Harper wins fossil awards because he doesn't support putting billions towards a kyoto plan that wouldn't do anything for the environment. He should get a "not a moron award" for that. Most secretive government of all time? Is that a joke? The Chretien government will that along with the title of "the most corrupt government of all time."
-
I think the Liberals trying to paint themselves as the party of ethics is incredibly weak, even laughable. Basically, their message is "Look, they're just as corrupt as we are!" Problem is that's not believable. Nothing the conservatives have done even remotely compares to the Sponsorship Scandal.

Greens Not Welcome At Televised Debate

Bottom line is that she was given a great opportunity and squandered it by running in a riding she couldn't possibly win. -
Coalition: September 2004, December 2008 & Now
noahbody replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
At the time of the 2004 letter, Paul Martin hadn't been exonerated by the Gomery Inquiry. Had the Inquiry shown him to be involved, I think the majority of Canadians would've supported a coalition as a means to remove a corrupt government, immediately. -
I've always considered the alarmists to be the deniers as they deny the probability of global cooling. Both sides acknowledge the earth warms.

Now I remember why I stopped visiting this forum. But let's go with it and have a debate. I'll take the position the you are closer to Hilter (Ashitler) the Stephen Harper is. My first point would be that Harper, amidst criticism, has taken an unprecedented stance in support of Israel. Hitler attempted to eradicate the Jews. This would make their actions polar opposite. Did you stand with Harper or were you among his critics who labelled it 'unCanadian.' My second point would be that you have said Harper shouldn't be in Ottawa. In a true democracy you only have one vote yet you've taken the stance that the country should follow your will. Like Hitler. My third point would be Hitler didn't know he was crazy. Your turn.

No it doesn't as can be seen in the Mayerthorpe Incident That's a bit of a stretch. Roscoe only had on registered gun and he didn't even use it. Criminals just don't use registered long guns. It would be far more effective to offer $100,000 rewards for info leading to an arrest.

Tinfoil for what? Are you not aware that the Khadrs and bin Laden were close? They were invited to his daughter's wedding. I base my assumption on Ahmed Said Khadr warned the government of retaliation if they got involved. What do you base your assumption that I'm wrong on? Let me guess... nothing.
-
Khadr will never be tried for treason because his family is close friends with bin Laden and there would most definitely be retaliation. This is why, I assume anyway, his mother has never been tried when she clearly committed treason.

Someone on the radio suggested using the UN headquarters as they're already set up for security. That makes sense to me. Either that or use video conferencing.

Canadian Government Guilty of Violating Khadr's Rights
noahbody replied to Keepitsimple's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The problem with your position is that there are many societies, not a single society of the world. The Khadrs weren't members of Canadian Society. They lived in very different society. -

Canadian Government Guilty of Violating Khadr's Rights

I was just correcting you. In context, you were stating he was 14 or less. Did you ever watch that 60 minutes interview where the younger brother talks about the beautiful virgins? You should. Also read the interviews from the documentary "Son of Al Qaeda." In the latter, Abdullah, when asked about returning to Canada, says Canada doesn't share his way of life. He's barely lived here. Same is true with Omar. Sure he was here for a few years at his father's bedside when his dad was recovering from battle, but that's it. If he is ever released, he should be released to live in Pakistan. That's where his way of life is. As far as his mental capacity goes, those who knew him best gave him important responsibilities. I'd want to take revenge for my father's death, because that is what my father, I loved dearly, and Allah would want. -

In the context, "It is important to note that generally adolescents over the age of 15 can be as capable as adults in focused decisionmaking situations..." he was over 15. -

That's always been my stance as well. She should be charged with child abuse and treason. She never will be though, because of who she is: Ahmed Khadr's wife and a close friend to bin Laden. If Canada were to prosecute her, Canadians would die for it. -
There was a story about the need to move snow to cypress mountain last night on the ctv news. David Suzuki inferred that it was due to global warming. If that's not an attempt to manipulate the uninformed, i don't know what is. What a joke!
