Someone in the Liberal Party is Lying
madmax replied to M.Dancer's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I stand corrected as I assumed you understood the gist. Such is the problem with forum discussions. Better to be accurate then assume. Even jokes can get messed up or friendly chatter. Regardless Deregulation increases the heating and cooling amplitude and the number of times for Bust and Boom Cycles increase. An good example being the recent US economic fiasco. Similar events happened in the late 20s to help create the dirty 30s. The victims of Deregulation and Market manipulation are the people. Now what does this all mean.... Someone in the Liberal Party is Lying. -
LOL.... There goes Harper and McGuinty.

Good Post... I think someone rushed to judgement.

YOU SOCIALIST!!! GOVERNMENT has the RIGHT to EXPROPRIATE Private Property and does so EVERY DAY in Canada at ALL levels of Government. Businesses are EVICTED from their establishments and People from their homes. Be it the Government wants to spoon feed a developer some prime realestate or they want to put a road in, or they want to take away your lakefront home to put up some condos for their buds. Ironically, I heard the ONDP were debating on a Provincial policy during the Leadership race and only 1 of the 4 Candidates for leader was taking about grabbing a stake in GM let alone "theft". It was so controversial that it went NOWHERE!!! Ironically a few weeks later, Conservative PrimeMinister Harper and Ontario PrimeMinister McGuinty were rushing to bailout GM and grab a few shares of stocks and handout 90% non repayable loans. Fear not MDANCER. The Corporate world will be saved. We will save our Banks! Our Compliant Media! And whatever else special interest group is a lobbiest at Queens Park regardless of Liberal and Conservative Governments of the day. As for the Policies of the NDP. They have a huge policy platform and its available for anyone to see. The LPC have a Red Book and its available for anyone to read. (See thread title...Someone in the Liberal Party is Lying) and you might find out why virtually nothing in the Red Book has been implemented. LOL. As for Socialist policies.... I refer to some of WildBills arguments elsewhere. People support Socialist Policies. The Conservatives were some of the First to embrace them as a form of GOVERNMENT!!! Thus if you understand a "Governor" on a car you realize the value of controlling hydro. If you understand how a potentiometer works, you realize just what happens when you put POWER into the Control of the Private Sector. The scary part is the government is now starting to deliver power and privatize sections of it and have payment based upon the Potentiometer they control. If you take "Power" to the next level as in Power of Capital and Power of influence of Government and it also works like that potentiometer. Deregulation of Markets, creates that boom and bust. But this is no thread for serious discussion. This thread is about... Someone lying in the Liberal Party. Haven't heard of a lying liberal since Bryant. -
Harper was the one trying to use the Bloc in 2004 and it was JackLayton who killed the deal by walking away. The BQ and Harper were very close and Harper was itching to toss out Martin at the Throne speech. Regardless, the truth its in the Coalition Agreement of 2008 the BQ didn't have "Veto" power over anything nor any more power then the currently do in parliment. Infact the Coalition would have handcuffed them from acting like they had veto power because the guidelines for the Coalition were already worked out. Thus we wouldn't be under threat of election or have election fatigue. Its all water under the bridge as 1) Ignatieff rejected his signature as did all the MP LPC members. 2) Harper licked his wounds, stopped acting like a jackass and got on with governing in a responsible manner. Perhaps you have forgotten what a JERK he was behaving like. His desire for power was trumping all rational thought and it took something extreme to put bring him down to earth. In the long run, everything worked out as parliment WILL function. It has been Prime Mininsters Harpers own actions that have cost him a Majority. That said, he doesn't mind climbing in the bedsheets of the BQ. There is more in common amongst the BQ with the CPC then there is with the LPC and NDP.

ITs not a BILLION DOLLAR SUMMIT!!!! Its a BILLION DOLLARS in SECURITY!!! The COst of the SUMMIT is yet to come in. Stop complaining about the Hospital you whiner. We have a Fake Lake, Fake TORONTO stock exchange, and a really nice Million dollar Cabin in Huntsville that will be used by all the people of Canada as its our tax dollars. Screw You and your Hospital. Hospitals are a PROVINCIAL matter and we need our Federal dollars spent on Entertainment on Foreign and Domestic Aristocrats. Everyone outside of Quebec supports this summit and these costs. I am sure that if the Quebec Government has a seat at the table, they support it too. Boo hoo. This isn't going to cost $1billion. ITs likely $5 Billion. So just take off and jump into a fake lake.....

Someone in the Liberal Party is Lying
madmax replied to M.Dancer's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
MDancer has made a fascinating discovery. I am shocked. Truly shocked. Someone in the Liberal Party is lying!!! Interesting to see that after this major discovery has occurred the thread turns into an NDP discussion. So if you take away the LPC lie, there is nothing LIberal to talk about Punked. If you go to all these NDP events and know all these groups, I am certain you could tell us if these conventions, regular meetings etc ever have any mention of joining the LPC? I didn't say shooting them, I said Joining them IIRC the PC/ Reform merger talks were active and on the floor of many conventions and backroom discussions of BOTH parties. It took TWO attempts to Reform the Canadian Alliance into the Progressive Conservative Party. As if it were the "Progressives" that ran Billion Dollar Deficits, brought in Consumer taxes, and charged towards Globalization faster then you can say NEOLIBERAL. All these Liberal Policies are the Lead action of Present Day Conservatives and our Prime Minister Stephen Harper. I think that if MDANCER does another investigative report, he would find Someone is the Conservative Party is Lying and then the LPC and CPC could merge on that policy feature -
I am not certain what the double standard is. Jaffer said he didn't have coke, never was convicted of speeding let alone being drunk as he FAILED a breathalyser. Bryant drives into the back of a cyclist twice, the 2nd time being a very nasty hit. Neither were convicted of anything nor took responsibility for anything. So you got another politician thought to be drunk behind the wheel. Much like those two above, little will happen and seriously whats the worst case scenario. They get convicted like Campbell in BC, get re elected and run the country like the convicted drunk he was. Enjoy your bunch of clowns and losers.

Sorry WildBill. I thought it was a good post. Either you are losing your touch on thought provoking and constructive dialogue or its just not a topic that anyone here can get riled up over. I thought you went at my post quite thoroughly. You did miss one point for comment. I see a GRAND COALITION of Liberal and Conservatives. Targeted Investments is a form of WealthCreation that has been on NDP books since 2004 IIRC. Retention is a form of wealth maintainence. The battle is an old one between natural resources and their global exploitation or a local or National Driven Market and export of finished goods. The Conservatives moved away from this around the time as you mention Laxers Lecture to the NDP. So, one could say that Wealth Creation for the Conservatives has been a redistribution of wealth to export and Global Markets. A rise in GDP is not a rise for the local economy. It can be, but it doesn't make it so.

Really, there is too many cars on the roads? I don't think so. There is a larger problem with Urban Sprawl and the restrictions and bottle neck of our roadways. One huge bottleneck is caused by ...The TOLL ROAD!!! LOL. There is a way to take cars off the road. A toll road doesn't remove the number of cars on the road. Bravo. Bottomline. So do all taxes. However, the 407ETR isn't creating a DIME for the government. We SOLD IT. Toll roads are great for Private ownership. Bottlenecks and stuck on the highway is more of an incentive to use public transportation. And there is NO TTC or GO where I live, but the TRAIN is used to avoid.... Bottlenecks. Its funny where these policy makers come from. Our highways are not built and paid for by the taxpayer so that the wealthy may benefit if they can afford a toll, or get preferential treatment. If you believe there are "Too many cars" and I don't believe that for a minute, then the government doesn't have to issue license plates. The government should REMOVE Tollroads as they are the CREATION OF CONGESTION. Open up the toll road and traffic will flow on all other arteries easier. If there are two many cars....and you want them reduced, shouldn't we stop building toll roads? The problem isn't the roads as much as it is Urban Sprawl and developers having their say in choking off roads. Regardless, 99% of your post is on revenues and 1% is on emissions. Just like the government. Its all about the money. Our public transit system was better 30 years ago then it is today. Its not because more cars are on the road. Its because the government turned away from public transit. That fact remains to this day. Look at the actions of the Federal Conservatives. And then look at the past actions of the Mulroney Conservatives when he started dismantling and privatizing rail. Car emissions are lower and will continue to decline. If the minister is worried about GreenHouse Gasses, he should take a look at homeownership. Oh yeah, he did, smart meters. Another red herring. Sucker born everyminute.

The Moderator should consider moving this thread to US Politics.

It was a handout. Plain and simple. Use whatever disguise you wish for cover. Banks have been rollinging profits nonstop both before, during and after the recession. Banks have been in worse financial shape because of their own misdoings prior to the meltdown. The government played patsies to the banks desires. We protect our banks. Its that simple. WE provide secure markets and welfare for our banks. And yes, it works. But it is Welfare and protection that keeps them in better shape. The 2nd best thing for the Banks was that Harper has done an about face on their protection vs freemarkets.

Will the federal NDP and Liberals unite/form a coalition?
madmax replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I see a Coalition in the next government. But not with the NDP. The LPC are in such turmoil and so lost and the arguments here have been persuasive that the LPC are closer to the CPC that I forsee a GRANDCOALITION of the two major parties after the next Minority Parliment is created. -
Thats funny WildBill. So much silly talk in this thread coming from all sides. Any form of government is "Wealth Redistribution" as is any form of trade and commerce. Who benefits from the creation of laws, distribution and wealth is the focus of all political parties and it was the Socialists of the past who stabilized the excesses of rampant capitalism. Those who support tax shifting have chosen a different form of distribution. The old model that made those who benefit the most from our resources pay a greater share of taxation has been changed to allow those who work more in society to pay the greater share of taxation. This is not the NDP system of wealth redistribution but one supported by Conservatives and Liberals in back to back government. There are some areas of our economy that are rigged. Possibly the last one to survive will be the Canadian Banking system. But eventually all the benefits many corporations had in this country came from the minds of Socialists. Corporatist and Global Corporatists wanted more influence and power within the Canadian economy and access to resources. Soon it will be the final nail in telecoms and maybe insurance will follow. And eventually the banks will be subject to globalization strategy. Its not a new strategy its hundreds of years old. But has been resisted by smart governments in favour of local economies and having our country stand up and provide for itself. The NDP would be the party that says we are more then the Hewers of wood. The LPC and CPC freemarketers are of the mindset, just get the lumber out of Canadian yards an into foreign hands. And here is a subsidies (wealth redistribution) to make it happen. Our trade laws are wealth redistribution. The Bottom line is WHO PAYS!!!! and more and more WB with this LPC and CPC NeoLiberal economic policies.... It will be YOU footing the bill. And you should be fine with that. Enjoy and I look forward to the LPC /CPC merger. Especially since Reform is DEAD and there is no difference in these parties economically or in terms of wealth redistribution.

I hadn't heard anything so stupid since those Tools the Tories were in power... Knew there was something subliminal about that title.

It wasn't a bailout. It was a gift.

It means they were rejected by a majority

I agree with your entire post...

This thread is a near painful experience. Put me with Hardner, Riverwind, and a few other of similar posts and I am a supporter of PR and Electoral Reform. 1) Machjo... you seem to want parliment to be elected like Municipal governments. No thanks!!! Its weak, its stupid and it sucks! However, that doesn't mean that independants should be treated like the outcasts of parliment when elected. However, even a political party can have the same limitations if .. they don't meet the minimum seat count. And quite frankly if independants can get elected, I leave a violin to all the whining from other parties who cannot get a single MP elected when you only need roughly 30% of the vote and one vote more then another candidates to get elected ... so cry me a river. 2) Electoral Reform for STV and MMP were both rejected by a MAJORITY vote.. Not a minority vote. So.. the MAJORITY of Voters supported the FPTP system and is skewing of the results. Thus, we know its not perfect and distorts. We also know that the public supports it. Do I support a better system? Yes. Do I respect the MAJORITY of Canadian Voters in Ontario and BC who rejected a better option? Absolutely. Is STV or MMP perfect? No it brings in its own distortions. Do I think independants have a more difficult time getting elected? Yes. But many independants that run for office have difficulty working with others and that is why they are not involved in political parties. Teamwork and organization will provide a stronger voice and meet goals easier then an independant voicing a single opinion with little support behind him. Its just the way it is.

I agree with this and the part about the CPC moving to the Centre.CPC fiscal policies remain far right fiscal incompetent starve the beast model of high deficits and lower taxes on those who can pay and a tax shift onto the middle class. But there is a move to the Centre in appeasing many Liberal pet projects. Also to keep the base happy, bones are tossed out to rally the troops and keep the public focused on 3rd rail and hot button issues while the level of transparency and accountability is reduced. To the general public, the CPC is striking a cord. The Billion dollars spent on security for the G20 is money all the masses can understand. While this may rile you..it should as the Conservatives are doing their best imitation of Liberals. Even the backroom deals, money bagman, Senate appointments and such are right out of the LPC playbook of governing. And Like the LPC the CPC is getting away with it. So, with CPC behaving like LPC, the LPC has only one trick poney left and that is to hope the CPC mess up in the minds of the public. That is a longshot. People will not like this government but the public does accept it. The public if having to choose tweedle dee from tweedle dum are going to settle Dee or Dum, they are going to take Dee. Ignatieff is not doing anything to inspire or lead. His goose is cooked. Thus, the CPC are enjoying what the LPC want to enjoy. Perks and Priviledge. The CPC have embarrassed themselves on many occassions, but the public is used to governments embarrassing themselves. Being poor fiscal managers and turning on a dime when in trouble. That is this government and that C rating is still a passing grade. No Liberal spinning to get the media talking about a merger in order to get them in the news as they aer currently lost in the forest, is going to change the fact that if... given the chance to govern... we would have the same government that we have today. ITs not good, but its not bad enough the LPC have said, we are not in support of the government. The LPC realize the rank and file are not happy, perhaps the LPC ranks are considering voting NDP or CPC and thus they are panicking as their poll numbers continue to hover in the mid/low twenties and there is more signs of economic recovery then Liberal recovery. The LPC and Ignatieff missed their ship then go to the train that left the station. The LPCs current next one requires another next one. The LPC internal leadership coup has been a total failure. The NDP is in no mood to join the circus when their leader is riding higher in the polls, their polling data is on the high end of their traditional rating and quite Frankly, the moment a merger is created another party will be formed. Then What? The LPC have to stop talking nonsense and trying to dream and scheme their way out of the cellar. I sincerely think the LPC is totally screwed and they have been blessed that the CPC have not proven themselves to be good at governing or the CPC would be in Majority turf. Now, if I had a Billion Dollars.... if I had a Billion dollars.... I'd buy me house, kraft dinner... wow have times changed

Its not a solution, because the problem wasn't identified.

Just another form of government greenwashing. I have heard crazy shit like this from GreenParty Activist too, but its really just bad policy. It does generate revenue. Toll roads don't cut down the number of cars. It hasn't worked yet. But it does generate government revenues. IF they wanted to reduced the number of cars on the roads, they have this mechanism called license plates. But then if the government withheld licence plates or limited them, it would..... A) Reduce Government revenues through plate sales and B ) Reduce the number of cars going through potential toll roads. Did I mention revenues? Its time this government is tossed from power. The sooner the better.
