  1. 24 hours later Cons are circling the wagons... Prime Minister Harper think Odas Falsifying documents is a "good thing". Of course, we knew when there was no good spin to come out of this, the CPC would come up with something rediculous and hope it drifts away. Oda's transgressions were far and above worse then the 26 year Conservative MP the Cons kicked, because he dared to hold onto his principles for a single vote. Quality people are turfed. Fabricators and Falsifiers are Kept.
  2. Conservatives are caught flat footed on this. It will take time for the Spin Doctors to get their talking points out. Lots of stuff is going to get floated, until they find the message that works.
  3. Todays False News. Bev Oda "NOT" It all depends on how you interpret NOT and what NOT means. Not is really a recommendation and is often inserted into documents that are NOT friendly to the government vision. CIDAs recommendation was NOT really a recommendation. It was NOT recommended. Its just a matter who did NOT recommend it. People should NOT get up in arms about this. Bev Oda is NOT responsible as she claimed to have NOT put NOT into the document and if she did NOT do this, it did NOT happen even if she said she directed the document NOT be approved. Its just a big misunderstanding. Its like the Clintons definition of "IS" or Rumsfeld defining "Unknown". Bev Oda is NOT NOT. Reporting for the False News Network.
  4. When you change a document, its not "fudged". Its Forged. There is a huge distinction. Oda is not fit for public service, yet I believe this incompetent person will get relected. Ironically, with spin doctors having little to say, cause this is difficult to spin. They are going to hide behind, "she did the right thing, if wrong" bullshit. No, she forged a document. Her office could have denied the request, regardless of the recommendation. Instead she choose to change the recommendation. Its a deceitful act. But I am sure its ok with Cons.
  5. No need to speculate Beers gonna be 6 cents cheaper. Will this be a priority for Hudak in a Minority Parliment? Will he get this done. Will he form a coalition with with the buck a Beer Supporters in other parties. The Buckabeer Coalition government. Opposition shall be called the 6cents.
  6. Conservatives have been in this range Before as have Liberals been in this range Before. All other polls rolling in now are supporting Ekos numbers on the Cons and Libs. Tories are within Majority.
  7. You're posting alot more Scribbs. Election coming soon?
  8. Its hillarious to read the posts here defending "false and misleading news". Could we do away with books categorized as Fact while we are at it. Just a big "Fiction" section. Free Speech u know..
  9. Great stats above. Could you imagine if UBB came about in 1999, 2000 or 2001. Infact, I didn't get Broadband to my region until 2006. But if these companies benefited from a CRTC ruling in that era. What would UBB look like. 1 Meg was a huge file that took 10 to 15 minutes to download. So, lets Cap that at 15 Meg and then charge extra. OFcourse, bandwidth was much harder to come across back then. And there wasn't the huge adverstising revenue streams that Bell and Rogers could benefit from like they do today. But lets put that cap on. Then , two things may have occurred. 1) No progress to Broadband. 2) Huge rush to Broadband to make HUGE MONEY as people easily exceed the cap. So, while people can think this is a rediculous analogy, no one can tell me what the internet will look like in 10 years. Thus, if we made the decision in 1999 to base UBB on that technology, it sounds both rediculous, and it sounds like a huge windfall for the companies. Freezing a moment in time in 2011, how stupid will we look in 2021, when pipeing is 100 or 1000 times greater.
  10. That would require a 180degree turnabout by the Conservative Party. Currently its Jailtime, 3 strikes and removal of the Pardon Process to those whom were convicted of simple possession. If you are wondering whom those new fancy prisons are being built for... its for users of cannibis. Regardless there is no public movement on this issue and its seen as an Old farts issue to the younger generation. The NDP position is decriminalization for cannibis users. The other parties remain keeping it within the criminal code. Its a non issue in most respects. There are logical reasons to legalize it, but it will never happen because of the demands of our Southern Trading Partner. It will never happen under a Conservative Government regardless of outside pressures. Ironically I think most Canadians would support its decriminilization or legalization, although we wouldn't know where things would end up once the rhethoric takes over between political parties. But this is not a Canadian Priority regardless.
  11. I agree with both MoonBox and Guyser. Neither of whom wants to "Legitimize" False and Misleading News" I think those who think the clause "False and Misleading News" needs to be changed, are as nutty as that right winger Zundell. Why one would use a convicted holocaust denier as a reason to lower Broadcasting standards is bizzare.
  12. I think you answered your own questions. Look at the list of Problems above. There is nothing on that list I agree with or supported. THank goodness with all those problems listed above, HUDAKs going to get me Beer 6cents cheaper a bottle.
  13. 1st off, I think WB has answered any questions relevant to this thread, and one day I want to get together with him and have a beer. I didn't noticed you asked a question. I thought you were making points. Let me go back and look and I will post a follow to your question.
  14. No one is against Green Energy. And WB makes soem very valid points. It could have been done better, & The Samsung deal raises many questions.
  15. You're Driving me to Drink.. I NEED 6cents off a bottle of beer, or I won't be able to cope
  16. Ah yes, the Good Ole Days. I can see the campaign unfolding now. Buck a Beer Happy Hour returns & Free Liquor & Beer on voting day.
  17. I just saw this quote on MoonBox signature. "A man is no more entitled to an opinion for which he cannot account than he does for a pint of beer for which he cannot pay" - Anonymous
  18. False and Misleading News is not Free Speech. Its False and Misleading News. Free Speech is for shows that are "Not News" Maybe a Comedy Channel, Fiction, Documentary. News reports are to be Factual, Not False. Broadcast news in the US is an Embarrassment. Its entertaining but the "News" is pretty lame. Regardless, of the comments with regards to the US quality of product, its their country its their mess, Our Broadcast standard have it that the News should NOT contain False and Misleading News. Why anyone should defend False and Misleading news is bizzare. If I want False and Misleading news I will turn to 1) Saturday Night Live 2) Dailey Show 3) Fox News DOH! But this isn't about them. Its about Canadian Broadcast Quality Journalism. Even if there is a RightWing Slant in our news and with another one on the horizon, I would not want these Right Wing News Organizations to be providing False and Misleading News.
  19. The Price of Beer is $25.60 for a cheap 2/4. If you vote for Hudak it will be $1.60 cheaper. http://www.citytv.com/toronto/citynews/news/local/article/112610--hudak-talks-beer-prices-1-million-spent-on-liberal-pamphlets A few Pops later.. the party called Health Minister Deb Matthews a liar after she claimed the opposition planned to axe the health tax, which brings in $3 billion a year, and the party issued a release stating it wouldn’t cut the tax. This week, Hudak said scrapping the tax is an option that’s on the table and wouldn’t answer questions about his sudden change of position. I am sure once he finds his footing and gets a sobriety test done, the pc platform will give him something to stand on
  20. Under pressure from the Conservative government, the CRTC has opened the door to U.S.-style attack broadcast journalism, proposed a change to the rules on false or misleading news broadcasts on radio or television. The law currently says a broadcast licensee “shall not broadcast any false or misleading news.” I can't wait for all the fake, lying and misleading news to come from Harpers former director of communications, Kory Teneycke "False and Misleading News" station in waiting. I am not sure why there should be an undermining of Broadcast news. What exactly is wrong with providing NEWS that isn't False or Misleading? It is a strange request. Regardless of any Broadcast News Station, I do not want to see them Broadcasting False or Misleading News. Nor should this get rubber stamped in the CRTC. But I have been reading comments on this within the online papers and it appears that Conservatives are braying loudly and vocally for this change. Why does this not surprise me
  21. We know this. No Liberal Government of any Province Brought forth Public Medicare and Universal Health Care, until the CCF actually did it. It was not a new idea, but one no Liberal adopted, but many talked about. Medicare came in under Tommy Douglas, 1948 Universal Health Care under Woodrow Stanely Lloyd. Pearson follows suit in 1966. By this time, all provinces, Alberta being the 2nd under the SC, had all bought into this model of Healthcare. Regardless, without the CCF, NDP it would never have come to pass. Anyone from that era, will not tell you any different and many remember when they had to pay for their medical treatments or go without. Now, if you wish to talk about social policies and Liberal accomplishments during 1993 to 2005, please do. Only thing I am aware of are some death bed announcements. Otherwise the LPC record is that of taking away from those who Contributed to EI to the tune of $48billion and giving it away to those of the the greatest wealth. Much of what the Federal Liberals did, and few will argue, was behave like Mike Harris, but with a smile. Cuts, Cuts, Cuts, and when prosperous, give from those with little to those with lots. Infact, that continued with Ignatieff supporting more corporate tax cuts, for shell and cibc. Martin much the same way except when faced with a minority government. Liberals will do, but only when pushed. Otherwise, take any corporate agenda and the liberals will follow just as the Conservatives do.
  22. "Telecom companies seek to impose a tiered service model in order to control the pipeline and thereby remove competition, create artificial scarcity, and oblige subscribers to buy their otherwise uncompetitive services. Many believe net neutrality to be primarily important as a preservation of current freedoms.[4] Vinton Cerf, considered a "father of the Internet" and co-inventor of the Internet Protocol, Tim Berners-Lee, creator of the Web, and many others have spoken out in favor of network neutrality"
  23. Touche, LOL... too funny. Hate to encourage u, but I got a good laugh on this one.
