I thought Conservative supporters understood Criminal Activity? Holy ^&*^ man, wake up. This is no longer funny, defending the incompentence and absurd actions by the former Cabinet Minister is one thing, but to defend Outlaw Bikers is definitely out their. Why does someone leave documents with someone they weren't seeing? Would anyone be met with suspicion if they had 3 girlfriends and 1 was assasinated and 2 committed suicide. Ignore the fact that mercenaries, soldiers of fortune, security personel and ex military are not uncommon in Outlaw biker gangs. And what does Aghanistan have. Drugs, Security Personel, Mercenaries, and government contracts. Nothing important. Right.

Quebec Poll BQ 1st CPC 2nd NDP 3rd LPC 4th (Statistical tie with NDP) http://ca.reuters.com/article/domesticNews...925681620080529

http://ca.reuters.com/article/domesticNews...925681620080529 Hope this helps I found the poll while referencing Bernier. And the polls are also showing that the CPC isn't being affected by the scandal in Quebec. Really a win win situation, because Bernier won the seat by 26,000 votes. in a nailbiter ..... and the CPC can't afford to lose ground in Quebec because of Bernier. The Liberals haven't gained and perhaps this poll result should be moved to another thread. Regardless, Bernier shouldn't run for office again, because he is incompetent.

I don't believe an soldier can be charged in criminal court for participating in an illegal or Immoral war. (All war is immoral, not inescapable). Recruiters are not forthcoming and do their job which is to "recruit" But people must take responsibility for their own actions. That includes signing a contract with the Military. This isn't the draft. While I sympathize with those mislead, or who don't wish to kill people, I have to say. It is a foregone conclusion that if you sign up with the US military, you are going to find yourself involved in an activity that kills people. (War isn't a video game, even if the TV News presents it as one) The people of the US and their Government must be held accountable for their actions. And people, can fight the government, and soldiers disobey orders and go to jail on principle. That is how you get change. Call this war for what it is. However, Hiding in Canada as a refugee is not the answer for change this time around. Times are different, this isn't young kids forced by the draft to fight on behalf of government. These are young people who choose to fight and now don't like the career choice. I can understand someone going abroad killing people and coming back, saying they had enough, and don't wish to return. Army Guy has provided a patient and logical argument. You don't pick the fights, you just get to fight them.

EI has been around for a long time. THere is a separate deduction for it. Yet it is used as general revenue. The previous government did the same as all before them IIRC. EI premiums should be reduced, and since something like 30% of the laid off/unemployed are eligible to claim, it is clear that revenue is going to exceed expenditures.

on social programs like... EI.

The cracks in the CPC superior integrity appeared the Day Emerson appeared and the Bagman Fortier became an appointed Senator and Minister. The CPC are not losing ground in Quebec, not yet, not even with the Bernier Fiasco hot in the press. However.... It would appear that the NDP have surpassed the Liberals in Quebec, for the 1st time in history. And Mulcair appears to be a strong NDP voice in the Province. Liberal Targeting of Ethnic Groups
madmax replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Conservative Riding Associations do not ignore ethnic communities. Neither do their candidates. They speak at ethnic functions, maintain close ties, put out literature in many languages, and even (TO THE HORROR OF MONTY BURNS) have pictures taken with dark skinned individuals. Maybe you haven't come across it, but back in 1985, it was common for the Conservative Candidate to travel with Sikh groups and Gay groups, and surprise of surprises, they got elected too. Fact is, the associations of the CPC and the LPC are often interchangeable and party memberships go back and forth between the two. Ignoring Ethnic Communities is suicide for the riding association and the candidate. It is the parties that are not LPC and CPC which do not have strong ethnic teachings in their riding associations and fewer ties to the various community groups. A riding with 90,000 people is likely to have 101 different community groups, and meeting with the Chinese or Phillipino community is standard fare. Teaching how to break into these groups, including religious groups, is also standard fare and a practice of the CPC. Isn't it. -
Ontario has been burdened by failed reactors, underproducing reactors, many offline and over budget for over 30 years. While capable of producing lots of power, we are still paying the start up costs of those reactors, each and every month, and I pay while they are producing nothing but darkness. Regardless of that... The latter statement by you are challenged and these are Not "my" facts. The details of Nuclear being clean, is challenged by environmentalists in this link. http://72.14.205.104/search?q=cache:-LiOxY...;cd=2&gl=ca There are environmental activists in these forums. I await to hear from them.....and I am already TAXED on the TAX of the NUCLEAR Generators debt

It is the Hypocrasy which drives people crazy. In this thread, you have a poster, claiming all these problems upon the LPC. Absurd and stupid as it appears in print, it is posted as if just getting rid of the LPC would solve the problem. Except that the LPC are in opposition and the CPC is behaving the way they claim the LPC behaves. You are right, the CPC would be all over this if it was a Liberal Quebec Minister leaving Classified documents regarding Security, at the home of a woman with ties to Outlaw Bikers who have businesses providing ..... SECURITY. THere is no doubt the government is feeling some heat and they should be. This needs to be looked at. Bernier is on the back seat. I can't see the Government to be blamed, other then this obstructionist attitude. Expose what is going on, and if it is really bad, let Bernier feel more heat.

That pitch was so lame, a Liberal could make it a home run. Get a new coach. You look so weak trying to change the subject, it hurts me to comment.

No one is forgetting anything. This is purposeful blind ignorance by people who would rather it just go away. What is interesting, is that what might have been considered a nothing story, has evolved into the best COPY and editor can come across to sell both Paper and Electronic Newsfeeds. There are just too damn many problems with the situation to ignore. You cannot have association with Organized Crime, and not expect coverage. People posting about it being no big deal, are choosing not to look at what is before them. This is no longer about a Screw up by the bumbling Bernier. There is more to it then just his error. Hell the CPC will fire staff for buying movie tickets for gawd sake. Get the investigation going.

Only if one is naive. This may have been ones first perception. But not with all the recent exposure.

Why would we want anymore Nuclear Boondoggles? These are costly, often down, we are still paying for many built back in the day. Cost overruns are astronomical. They aren't cheap, and if one takes time to look at the creating of a Nuclear site, the Carbon Footprint (According to environmentalists,) is larger then a Coal facility. But really, they provide bad value for their money. Nuclear has been around for many decades, never catches on, and no solutions have been found on what to do with the waste, other then store it in my community. Seems the Nuclear Lobby is now got to the Cons.

I am not a smoker. Quit when I was 14. (don't ask)! But there are smokers in every political party, and many of these activists are CHAIN smokers. I am concerned, with a policy that could expand into the home. I am concerned if this ban is ANYTIME (I have a bigger problem with people text messaging while driving, as this can instantly kill ALL the passengers) and I also have a strong belief in personal liberty. Where is the line drawn? If this is just in the car, on public roads and enforceable only when children are passengers, then it is very likely that this law will come into play with little fanfare and no ones life will be disrupted. We have come along ways from when the School Bus driver smoked while busing us around for an hour and a half.

No. UNFORTUNEATE that the party you advocate (Conservatives) LEad the way on an issue with the Liberals and NDP following. The only difference between you and DR. Greenthumb is that he is vocal about the "injustice" towards him by the party he supported and has publicly said he is looking elsewhere and will fight against this policy. You on the other hand live in complete denial of the actions of the Conservative party. You tend to believe, that if You say something, then the Conservatives must support it. Your posts are delusional. Infact you are an appeaser of the Conservative Policy and not an opponent of the Conservative, Liberal and NDP ban of smoking in cars. You support the smoking ban like the Conservatives. I was raised in Tobbacco country and have watched as the Conservatives have led the farmers down the garden path. Smoking has been in the minority since the 70s. I understand the need for healthy practices. There is a line between rights of adults and the health of children. Conservative Policy is leading to the RUIN of the Tobbacco Farmer. Governments LIB/CON have passed laws to protect citizens from the hazards of Smoking. Now we are seeing the NDP do the same. But with regards to the Farming Community. The CONSERVATIVES have proven to be the worst of a bad lot. Now that I am done priming...... Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

PMO backtracks over Italian soldiers in Afghanistan
madmax replied to Fortunata's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Errors and miscommunications of this sort are not uncommon. The Spokesperson rushed to judgement, but so did the media. The media is trying to keep up to the rumour mills on the internet, and the raw data is now reported as fact, without investigation. The government is behaving in the same manner. No big whoop. But then we have fellowtraveller......... And just where are you stationed? -
What about those reality TV shows? Of course the CBC has that neat capitalist gameshow. Dragons Den. I like it.
-
I doubt that the Libs are the reason for this initiative. This is one coming down the Provincial Pipelines like a train no one is going to stop. I was surprised how quickly this measure spread. I had never heard of such a thing until the Conservatives brought it in.
-
I too am interested. Smokers are addicts being treated in a draconian fashion. When will homes be the next target? I have been in homes where you can't breath the smoke is so overwhelming. Not much better then a car, and the child resides in the home for a much longer period. I don't know what brought the Conservatives to bring this forward, but it has swept across the country since like rapid fire. And it is clear that it is here to stay, regardless of the government of the day. I expect every province to adopt such a law. If they banned smoking in Ontario Bars/resturants in Tobacco country, without any fight, then anyones opposition to this measure (Banning Smoking in Cars) will be futile and life will go on. On a side note, I don't buy used vehicles owned by smokers. So, is the ban only when children are in the car?
-
Really? The Conservatives brought this law forward FIRST! Then the Liberals brought this forward Second And now the NDP will be the 3rd government to bring this to law. This is one of those Government/Opposition issues. The government is going to do (regardless of party affliation) And here is the Conservative position in Ontario... Obviously any advice from Mr. Burns should be taken with a grain of salt or the tongue in cheek.
