That is a very interesting opinion. How did you come to it? -
Dion's "Liberal Green Shift" carbon tax Plan
madmax replied to madmax's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Tax Shifting. It is a SCAM. This is political opportunism at its worst. There is no other reason why Dion would make such a change of direction. This is a regressive money grabbing government pick pocketing scheme designed under the guise of environmental benefits. Please don't lead me to believe that Dion found salvation. Provincial Governments are pitching these tax grabbing initiatives. Monkey See, Monkey Do. I also read about how this revenue neutral proposal is going to provide all sorts of Social Services. It ain't possible. Either you aren't giving the Wealthy a Large Tax Break or you are? Either you are generating more Income for Social Services or you are Revenue NEUTRAL, in which case tax income will be the same. So many wholes, you can pretty much say anything you want in order to get votes. 1) Rich Get Tax Breaks 2) Poor Get Tax Refunds 3) Social Services Increased 4) Revenue Neutral 5) Good For the Environment. 6) Make the pollutor pay. These are SLOGANS! This is politics and the Liberals want back in. I don't believe Federal Liberals to follow through on anything anyways. The Little Red Book was campaigned on for 13 years and not one piece of it made legislation. Then those wonderful campaigns against Free Trade And the GST. So why would anyone be surprised that the LPC are creating a Little Green Book that they are going to campaign on for the next 13 years if they get elected? I will repeat for the 3rd and final time (today) Tax Shifting. It is a SCAM. This is political opportunism at its worst. There is no other reason why Dion would make such a change of direction. This is a regressive money grabbing government pick pocketing scheme designed under the guise of environmental benefits. Please don't lead me to believe that Dion found salvation -
Fuel Prices Displaces Environment as #1 Issue (Poll)

I don't believe the Campbell policy is even in place yet. Nor do I believe the question is tied to any of the Liberal Policies in BC. Often questions are asked singularly on their own merits, even if other questions concerning political support are on the same questionaire. But hey, I just looked at the graph and went WOW! .............. The part I find interesting is how an issue has risen so dramatically in short a short span to the #1 position. To see that the Environment, Health Care and the ECONOMY have been displaced by one issue (Gas) is quite remarkable. -
What if Nuclear is not a practical, stable or long term solution? What if it is not feasible or sustainable? What if it has no significant impact on climate change? What is practical about killing people with Nuclear Power? I have some Nuclear Storage in our city, I would like to send it to YOU!

The Ontario Wheat Board has become ineffectual. It was the farmers that voted and choose their decision. The Majority vote was accepted and the question was clear to all. There were those in opposition to the change and provided many arguments against the "dual Market" and they accepted their loss as the minority voice. The reports regarding the "success" of the Ontario decision all seem to be generated in Alberta Studies. There were problems with the OWB system, and there are problems with the new system. The OWPMB will fade out to be just a webpage, list prices and promote Ontario Wheat around the globe. There are always going to be people who want change, change the system, I can do better, etc. I wouldn't use the Ontario Model as a reason to change how the CWB operates. The members of the CWB must look at their own situation, and choose to remain the way they are or change. The Ontario model couldn't be compared to the CWB when it operated in the same closed market system, and it shouldn't be compared to the CWB if the members votes for open markets. The only thing that is true, is that you cannot have a dual market open and closed system. This is just a selling job and political spinning. Farmers need to make the decision, and live with it.

(The wealthiest) not WHAT benefits (the Environment) -
Are you advocating Nuclear Power? Yes or No?

Dion's "Liberal Green Shift" carbon tax Plan
madmax replied to madmax's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Why should rich people get large tax breaks and have the burden of their excesses shouldered by lower and middle income families? I know a scam when I see it. Environment my ass. This is a TAX plan. And every time the word environment is used, is just a cover for a suck and blow policy that rewards those with extra income to spend as they see fit. Give to the wealthiest of society and let the least wealthy pay for it. Regardless, the LPC do believe that this political exercise will result in greater political appeal over time. Unfortuneately, this may not be the case, and it could become the anchor that sinks Dions Political career. -
Liberals in deep shift over green slogan

Both parties used the same tactics to promote their environmental platform. The CPC are viewed as deceiving. The LPC are viewed as incompetent. Choose one. I think people accept deception in politics. I do not think they accept incompetence. -
An accurate portrayal of Ontario Politics and Liberal Behaviour.

The employees have not put their employer on the verge of downfall. The employees have made that operation one of the most productive and efficient in North America. The Employer is simply choosing to relocate their operation to another facility. If GM is on the "verge of downfall" it will be GMs own doing.

http://www.thestar.com/News/Canada/article/443954 It was this practice by the boy loving warlords that brought support to the Taliban. If there is a don't look don't tell policy regarding the actions of the Afghan Soldiers, then this policy must be abandoned immediately. Child abuse cannot be tolerated. There is no way we are going to get the support of the people if we look the other way to these offenses.

The Last Manufacturing pLant I was associated with. Steel 40% Energy 38% Labour 7% Steel Costs rose rapidly from 2005. Energy Costs started going through the roof and purchasing through various private suppliers proved fruitless in the end. All those years of stable pricing made it feel like they were fixed costs. Labour costs haven't been cited as the reason for closing in the many plant closures I am involved with. The rising dollar is often cited.

Well get one side of it. Couillard has an autobiography on the way. She definitely has a nose for money.

Dion's "Liberal Green Shift" carbon tax Plan

Those are very good points. And I think if you take into consideration the previous post regarding US airline fuel strategy, you can see the blackmarket possibilities or cheating that could occur. There is much left to be discussed before people start suggesting that a government tax is the solution. Or shifting the burden from the rich to the working poor is the best way to implement it. -
The Underground Economy services both.

Your child care costs are $400 per month. What do you receive for the $400 in child care. That is why I am asking the question above. Could you explain what you are receiving? I assume paying out of your own pocket, previously, and now receive $100 from the government to aid your child care costs
