  1. Gingrich says Bannon isn't anti-Semitic because he worked in finance. Oh my God, is this for real?? http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/us_5829d117e4b02d21bbc99315
  2. Inadvertently and in hindsight maybe but it was definitely not their intention.
  3. Trump's ego wanted to know if he can be the president of the world's most powerful nation but I don't think he actually wanted the job. The thrill of the competition was more exciting than the prize. I've never in my life seen such a somber victory speech than his. He had 'oh f-ck I won' written all over him. Reminds of of a job that I knew I didnt want years ago but for some reason I went through 5 stages of interview and skill testing questions anyway. I got it and turned it down but I knew all along that I was just being competitive.
  4. Kimmy I didn't say he is Hitler I said he's so unpredictable anything is possible. He is starting off with a massive deportation. He's already expressed desire to 'identify' Muslims. He has stated that he has no issues committing war crimes. There are 'parallels' which mean a similar atmosphere in which he rose to power. Will he fire up the ovens as soon as he takes office? No of course not. Hitler didn't either. For all I know if he'll revert to his pre 2008 Democrat and laugh at republicans but if there is any one campaign in 2016 election that has the capacity to start world war three, it's hands down Donald Trump. Thats what I mean by he's unpredictable.
  5. The guy is so unpredictable I really can't say what he's gonna do but yeah there are many unsettling parallels.
  6. Well, seeing how our resident born-again defended adultery and promiscuity, I say you're probably right to an extent, but I still find the comparison not very apt. Standing up for minority rights and LGBTQ isn't a conflicting stance. The underlying commonality is that everyone should live their life without prejudice and with freedom and it's nobody's business what others are doing or thinking unless they're hurting others. That's why Democrats are the big tent party with many different supporters vs. the Republicans who are made of very few factions. They can be against Islamophobia and homophobia at the same time even though Republicans, and even many on this forum, can't seem to grasp how the two issues are not mutually exclusive. Jew-hating and Israel-loving, on the other hand, will be a conflicting issue which will be more difficult to reconcile than the notion of equality for all. I'm personally very curious which direction his foreign policy will take because I think he'll appease the Evangelical base but this is the first time we are seeing white power Jew-hating types in government so what they'll do is anyone's guess.
  7. Regional representation makes sense for governing bodies, not one person. There is absolutely no justification for it.
  8. The casting was so amazing I had to put aside what I had remembered reading here from you and Ash and give it a try. I liked it, it was very funny. Then again, I don't know how you can lose with Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon.
  9. Oh I get it. Yes, I think hers is more all-encompassing and academic and yours is the layman usage.
  10. What about Bannon? How's he going to mend the gap between the Jew-hating white supremacists who are celebrating his victory with the Evangelical crusaders for "God's Chosen People"?
  11. The bolded part is the generally accepted use of the word even though 'race' in the literal sense is misnomer in this age of multiculturalism. I'm not sure how you're getting 'a lot of definitions' out of that: quite literally it means - feeling superior to people who are different and harbouring bad feelings for those people as a result. Where's the plurality?
  12. You're one of the most outspoken on this forum about your Immigrant/Muslim cautionary views (notice I didn't say anti this time). It's really nice to see that even our most fervent is head and shoulders above his American counterparts. This makes me proud to be Canadian.
  13. No I noticed too. I would have thought a lot of Trump policies would appeal to Argus. Especially the anti-immigration and anti-Muslim policies. Whatever it was I was very pleased to see him be such a voice of reason through the election.
  14. Bannon as chief strategist has me wondering how Trump's brand of republicanism, filled with anti-Semites and white supremacists, are going to govern with the Israel worshipping evangelical republicans.

  15. K, I can't believe I'm doing this, but are you kidding me? You're a 20 something white man who recently came to believe the realities of racism and because of that and you're under the impression that I don't believe sexism exists? I have 20 years on you, I'm from a completely different generation where gender identity was even more prominent than it is for your generation. I have lived with the harassment and constant undermining of my intellect my entire life. Add in my ethnicity and I understand what it's like to have to work three times as hard to get the same recognition. Do not lecture that I don't understand, that's just downright insulting from a millenial white man. John Kerry was a man and he lost. Personality matters. She was a weak candidate.
  16. See, this is where words matter. In my post to Rue I said I'm sure for some people her gender played a role but on the list of things that brought her down I'd put her gender pretty low. You are the one who said her gender is and I quote "mostly" the reason she lost. Where I am taking into account many factors (as stated earlier) your view oversimplifies tens of millions of votes down to one. It's one-dimensional and doesn't take into account all the many many things wrong Hillary the candidate. She was a lot like John Kerry - a wealthy person out of touch with their base, not charismatic in the least, and running her campaign on how bad the other guy is. She had the added bonus of having a controversial past, wikileaks and a divided DNC. Face it, the issue was way more complex than her vagina.
  17. Did you actually read the thread? I discussed Electoral college on page one and segnasaur about voter suppression on page three.
  18. Oh what a nice world you must live in where something so complex as the reason for millions and millions of votes can ("mostly") be summed up to something so simple of lack of penis.
  19. No, they're not. My question (which got figured out and deleted) was to bcsapper about how he managed to get the stream going.
  20. This suggestion may be more for Greg and I'm not sure if it can even be done, but... Any new members signing on to the forum after new format won't really know what status updates are. Since most of us old timers are even having a hard time figuring it out, maybe it could be one of the main tabs like Forum and Chat. Yeah? Activity Tab, My Activity Streams (drop down), choose Status Updates.
  21. Nothing is more reassuring that Trump is not the racist the hysterical left makes him out to be than seeing KKK celebrating his victory and students holdings Trump signs and shouting White Power. I'm so relieved....
  22. Has anyone figured out how to get rid of a stuck quote on an iPhone? The equivalent of "Tab + Delete"
  23. Well, I saw nothing of the like, and while I acknowledge that people IRL would not tell me they don't like a woman president, I do read forums and comments on many different types of political media. Never once did I read someone bring up her gender for disliking her - it was always her perceived corruption (from the left-wingers) and/or Democratic affiliation (for the right-wingers). Not one person on this anonymous forum said anything of the like either. But sure, your unsubstantiated 'experiences' make a very compelling argument.
