  1. In Islamic law, apostasy is punishable by death, so what she is doing take a lot of courage. Are women starting to break free, is it now the time for them to take a stand for their human rights?
  2. Did you know that passing this bill contradicts Section 54 of our Constitution: "It shall not be lawful for the House of Commons to adopt or pass any vote, resolution, address or bill for the appropriation of any part of the public revenue, or of any tax or impost, to any purpose that has not been first recommended to that House by message of the governor general in the session in which such vote, resolution, address or bill is proposed." So even though the speaker has ruled on it, it is still constitutionally wrong
  3. Blessed are they that go round in circles for they shall be called Wheels -
  4. That's the problem, it is going round in circles, because nobody other than Chuck Cadman really knows what he said or meant. Not only that, he was on meds, plus it's quite possible the ladies misunderstood. The mud is sticking because like some people on here, they want to believe, so will never accept any other possibility, even though the CPC has repeatedly said, that Cadman "could become the Conservative party candidate in Surrey North in the next election under the then-current rules of the party and what campaign support the party could provide for his re-election." Nothing illegal as I'm sure the two CPC people will testify to in court. Mr. Harper is very sure of himself or he wouldn't have initiated the law suite, but as I said, MUD sticks
  5. I'm not in favour of unions milking the employers, which I think does happen with the auto unions. Not that I think management isn't overpaid either, but I've heard some of the stuff that goes on in those union plants, and the amount of goofing off etc. by employees. I did hear that GM is trying to buy out most of it's employees so that they too can re-hire people on contract like Honda does. If this would result in a much lower priced vehicle, which would free up more money for the rest of us poor slobs, I might think it okay - but would it lower the prices? There has to a happy medium some where between the overpaid auto union workers and the soon to be low end non union workers.....
  6. It is the Alliston, but they will now raise production of Civic sedans.
  7. Exactly, the Liberals are throwing mud knowing that it sticks especially with the average voter, even if all people are proven innocent. How is the opposition claiming that this arrangement was to have worked? Are they saying that the Conservatives would simply pay his widow $1 million out of party coffers? If so, why are they talking about an insurance policy? Because - there is no substance and no known offer, only third party allegations. What is more liikely, is that the Liberals were offering a huge financial inducement to vote for them, the CPC were likely scratching their heads trying to work out how to remove that financial inducement from the table and so let Cadman use his vote without his personal finances being a factor. This is nothing but a shameless exploitation of a very trying and emotional period for the Cadman family, for political gain and that, in my opinion, is repulsive. Obviously keeping this going and throwing more mud about gives the Liberals cause to think they may have some traction for an election. All we know for sure about what transpired during a meeting, is that two people offered Cadman something, and that he turned it down. Everything else is pure speculation and smear tactics. Again, what insurance company would offer that kind of coverage to someone with terminal cancer?
  8. I think it is only for some pickups, but it's their option. Not sure but I did read that workers are hired on contract first, with options for full time later if they work out. That is sound policy as it is easier to not renew a contract then fire someone.
  9. It's called, Afraid of the electorate - keep throwing mud It will be funny to see how Dion explains why he won't bring down the gov't when he keeps telling us this gov't is not good for Canada, and why he keeps it alive if not to serve his own political self interest. It will also be interesting to see how Harper will turn it to an electoral advantage, so this will backfire on the opposition for trying to sneak some sloppy legislation through just to try to look good, and., cause a needless election due to their bungling.
  10. The government does NOT oppose tax breaks, this is exactly the kind of thinking that the Liberals are relying on from uninformed taxpayers, quite machiavellian and cute on their part. The gov't opposes changes to a budget allready in process that will result in a liability not accounted for in said budget. The CPC could turn it to their advantage by paying less off on the national debt to free up money for this new off budget liability, and improve on it's delivery etc. Actually it is amazing that that the NDP and the Bloc would vote for such a conservative measure like tax cuts. It would also demonstrate flexibility in a government which actually wants to represent all the people - not just the CPC. It offers an opportunity and rationale for dropping funding to other less worthy causes. Harper could also tell the Senate to pass an amended bill or have their fellow liberal-socialist coalition in The House face an election.
  11. Well said: What is is sad is that these pictures of Palestinians celebrating the massacre IMO means there is NO chance for peace. To me it shows that too many Palestinians embrace a culture of death, a culture stuck in the Dark Ages of ancient hatreds and unmentionable violence. Where, were the pictures of sad Palestinians, or maybe they were just too scared to come out of the woodwork and speak up.
  12. Good post... maybe a word to Greg about it, in the meantime just put him on ignore.
  13. Where did I say you did vote for him?
  14. Right. Don't know what I did wrong, but darn it, I worked full time my whole working life taking two mat. leaves - and didn't expect anyone to subsidize my choice to have children.
  15. I tend to think that those who complain the most about nasty consumerism, are those who can least afford to consume anything. Therefore they are really coming from envy rather than altruism, as was said, they are quite happy to have others pay and support their wants and desires.
  16. Exactly, this one isn't bad strategy for a party so hungry for power they would willingly put the country into a deficit to further their own agenda.
  17. Exactly that, some are not desirable, some are okay, they won't kill you unless you ingest great gobs of the stuff every day. You can't 'hear' anything in my statements, you simply apply your own biases and notions to someone who isn't to the left of Jack Layton... I respect hard working farmers who provide much of our food.
  18. They can wrap a repeal into the budget implementation bill, which still has to come before the House. The latter is a confidence bill and would force the Liberals to choose between the RESP legislation and an election. There is a possibility, but not probability that the Senate could send it back with an amendment. An uncosted bill such as this would be a liability, and would push the economy close to deficit. Such bills have to be costed in with everything else, not thrown in after the budget has been costed out and passed.
  19. Where did I say that? Do farms have high speed internet, natural gas, sewers and town water? Lets just put it this way, I'm not a farm girl, I live in the Ontario boonies now and would leave in a heartbeat if hubby agreed to it. Biggest mistake I ever made moving away from everything. I wasn't aware the rules had changed for farmer's markets; I thought they were exempted under the Food Premises Regulation. Are their kitchens inspected under the same health guidelines as restaurants etc. and other places? I thought they could only sell preserves etc. behind their own gates, not in a public market....do you have any links?
  20. I agree, but you don't have to leave, just put him on ignore - it works -
  21. Get real, it could be any speaker, they can't foresee the future. The CPC I think, can put an amendment into the budget and turn it into a confidence motion. They are not saying it's bad, they are saying that it wasn't in the budget so the money is not accounted for, the Liberals know that. Let's see if they will be willing to bring down the gov't over it when it becomes a confidence issue in an amendment.
  22. Don't know to whom you are referring, I highly doubt that any poster on here is directed by big business, it's just an opinion. I will say that not all kitchens are created equal, I no longer buy home made bottled preserves etc. in country markets as the kitchens are not inspected and so on. Are our kitchens sterile and do we take all the necessary precautions to prevent food poisoning, I kinda doubt that we are always on top of things. Are all sure that out food processing areas are clear of contamination by bacteria, and do we always use the most effective disinfectant methods on a daily basis? I agree that processed food is not always desirable or good for us, and that we need clearer labelling as to where it really comes from., so to that end we can fight for better rules etc. but we cannot take away big business, get rid of big business, you get of jobs, the economy etc. We cannot go back to the days of us all living off the land, there are too many of us and not enough arable land, besides, I personally have no desire to live on a farm without all my amenities, I'm sure many of feel that way, but it doesn't mean we are involved with big business.
  23. More than me - dammit !
  24. Sure business dealings can affect us, not just the Bilderbergers. All organizations control information, it's normal. Since when do taxpayers foot the bill for Bilderbergers, at least other than security I suppose, but that goes for all famous or infamous people.
  25. LOL, the fault actually lies with Obama's loose lips, as he does like to tell people he's a new kind of politician who only tells the truth... sure, as David Frum says:
