PMO hires former White House spokesmen

This is funny - about as newsworthy as the Libs buying American software for managing their campaign... Whatever gets the job done - right. Oops excuse me, only if you are a Liberal LOL -
Tories, Mulroney in tiff over party membership
scribblet replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
None - show me one policy that fits your description. This is a hoot, the CPC are governing more like Liberals let the troglodytes on here continue their attempt to portray the CPC as so cons etc. LOL Try as you might, there is nothing 'so-con' about Harper. -
Letting the Auto Makers fall.

I didn't read that article, but read this one, I'd say generally people are not in favour of the union. I wouldn't like to see that many people unemployed or pensioners lose their income, but I'm not sure that GM can be saved. $19.00 an hour isn't just from the hourly rate, it's a combination of wages and benefits, so it seems me, that would be preferable to no job. I haven't seen anything concrete about cuts to CEO wages.. http://business.theglobeandmail.com/servle...NStory/Business -

Garbage, absolute nonsense.. Harper is governing to the left of centre...show one policy that would fit with what you think is an "image of neo-cons to the south. " -
Liberals Using U.S. Campaign Software
scribblet replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Actually I was referring to software, not hardware. However, I see nothing wrong with purchasing the best program there is, but my point was, if this had been the CPC there would have been screams about Harper being in 'lockstep' with the U.S. etc. -
Tories, Mulroney in tiff over party membership
scribblet replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Exactly - they are made of various types of conservatives just as the Liberals have different types of Liberals e.g. those who religious types who are anti abortion etc. There previous Reform members sure, but I'd say that they represent less than a third of the membership. But so what, they are entitled to a voice just as the religious Liberals are entitled to a voice... -
Tories, Mulroney in tiff over party membership
scribblet replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
None of which, although slightly biased to say the least and did not represent all Reform members, has anything to do with today's CPC. Even though some people like to push it as if it did represent the CPC in the hopes that the ill informed will buy it. -
Oh no, made in U.S. software, couldn't they find any homegrown software? My goodness, they must be in 'lockstep' with the U.S. now - http://www.ngpsoftware.com/products/database

Tories, Mulroney in tiff over party membership
scribblet replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Possibly, but it's tempest in a teapot, like much of the stuff on here, only the most die hard partisans would continue to make it a public issue LOL Iggy et al are using it simply as a divide and conquer technique, exploiting a minor issue. Much like most of the topics on here. -
Harper Working on Scrapping the Gun Registry!
scribblet replied to wulf42's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
And rightly so, let's get on with it ! -
What nonsense... the EI employees hardly take the party preferences into consideration when processing claims, most of which are done on line. If you have anything to back up such an atrocious suggestion, please provide it.

This is so Chretienesque, .... so Martinesque .... so Quebec-ish. Vancouver lawyer Michael Galambos claims under oath that former Liberal justice minister Martin Cauchon offered him federal prosecution contracts in exchange for support of ex-prime minister Paul Martin at a fundraising dinner http://www.vancouversun.com/news/justice+m...4444/story.html A Vancouver lawyer claimed under oath that former Liberal justice minister Martin Cauchon offered him federal prosecution contracts if he bought a table at a fundraising dinner for ex-prime minister Paul Martin, according to documents filed with the Supreme Court of Canada. Cauchon ceased to be minister of justice in December 2003 and did not run for re-election after Martin failed to name him to cabinet. He did not testify in the civil case in which the allegation was made, and his assistant said he was unavailable for comment while on vacation until Wednesday. The highly regarded, 46-year-old former MP for the toney Montreal riding of Outremont, a fierce loyalist to Martin's predecessor, Jean Chretien, said last fall he was considering a return to politics and even running for the Liberal leadership. The explosive claim that he bartered prosecution contracts in exchange for donations to Martin, if true, would suggest the ambitious minister was trying to ingratiate himself in the dying days of his mentor's regime. LAWYER DROPS BOMBSHELL Lawyer Michael Galambos dropped the bombshell during a seemingly insignificant $200,000 lawsuit against his former accountant Estela Perez -- who apparently loaned him money, dressed him in $4,313.22 worth of new suits from Harry Rosen, slapped a down payment on a lease for his Mercedes CLK and hired his firm to do her family's legal work. cont..

Tories, Mulroney in tiff over party membership
scribblet replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Exactly so, they never existed. The CPC has never offered lifetime memberships, I interpret this whole thing as an attempt to drive a wedge into the party. Even the CBC production on the issue was very presumptive in respect to motives. As much of the anti CPC nonsense on here. -
stephanomics - Canada Best Prepared
scribblet replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The Liberals continually demanded MORE spending, not sure what cuts they wanted, but when cuts were made they screamed even louder. e.g. the arts.. They have the option of not voting for the budget, if they didn't like it, they shouldn't have voted for it. Harper is doing something right or we wouldn't be in the good position we are in. -

Yup LOL -
Hey, Canada is looking good... !! I know I know, Harper had nothing to do with it http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/thereporters/st...pared_awar.html I know you can't bear the suspense. The award for "Best Prepared Country Going Into the Crisis" goes to... Canada. And what a goodie-two-shoes economy it turns out to be. The more you look at this country's numbers, the more you understand why Gordon Brown relegated Canada to "second tier" status in the diplomatic preparations for the Summit. It was the only bit of one-upmanship with the Canadians he could still win. Next time the prime minister talks about every country being brought down by this crisis - or the chancellor suggests that everyone made the same mistakes - remember Canada. Nowhere is immune, but by most key measures, the Canadians are coming out of this crisis in a league of their own. Take the banking system. Canada's banks have not just had fewer bailouts than other countries. They've had none. Zero. Not a dime. Commemorative one-dollar coins marking the 100th anniversary of the Montreal Canadiens NHL hockey team are seen Tuesday, March 10, 2009, in Montreal after they were unveiled by the Royal Canadian Mint That may change - the five banks that dominate Canada's banking sector have had to write down large losses on subprime and the like. But so far they've done without government handouts. And they have raised about £5bn in equity since October. Their shares have fallen sharply, but by 40-50% - not 80-90% as they have in Britain and the US. As the FT pointed out today, of the seven institutions in the world that still retain a triple-A Moody's credit rating, two are Canadian banks. And as their competitors have tumbled, so they have ascended the global rankings: all five Canadian banks now rank in the world top 50. cont...

Liberals fill coffers with pay-per-schmooze

More like a whirling dirvish LOL ( or is that dervish ? ) -
Right on... they are a health problem and should be culled - big time. They are good eating too, so why not use them to feed people.

First decriminalization, then plural marriages
scribblet replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It is a slippery slope isn't it, and we were warned.. However, I sure hope that there is full protection for minors if polygamy becomes legal. There has to be more than the age of consent in play here, we have to make sure that even 16 year olds are protected from forced marriages.. I would say that if polygamy becomes legal, then the age of consent for such marriages should be raised to - say - 18... -
Is Canada's Science Minister a creationalist?
scribblet replied to Chuck U. Farlie's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Exactly.. heck we have many Roman Catholic politicians who don't let their religious believes re: abortion get in the way of their legislative processes.
