  1. According to CNN this guy had a criminal record and a history of mental illness. The guy was obviously nuts and mentally unstable with no particular ideology, he held eclectic viewpoints which seem to defy political classification. It is possible that the Congresswoman will become the poster gal for tighter gun control. http://www.ocala.com/article/20110109/ZNYT02/101093011/-1/news?p=1&tc=pg http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/jared-lee-loughner-gabriel-giffords-suspected-shooter-identified/story?id=12572164
  2. His ideology doesn't seem to fit any side so the left is going to have a real problem pinning this on the tea party, it seems his favorite books include Mein Kampf and the Communist Manifesto !
  3. Sigh, here we go assigning motives that aren't there, blame the tea party although there's no reason to do so. Sarah Palin was 'targeting' areas for politics/demographic, not shooting anyone. She obviously took it down because she knew how left wingers would spin it, next thing they'll be blaming her for the shooter's actions.
  4. Hope this is the right place for this... what do you make of it, on first reading it sounds pretty ominous, would you trust the gov't with a national internet ID... http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-501465_162-20027837-501465.html?tag=mncol;lst;1
  5. Oh oh, that link I posted from Daily Kos has gone allready LOL I bet someone saved it though...
  6. She was the first Jewish congresswoman and it was a mass shooting with an automatic, very tragic, the shooter is in custody. I wouldn't go assigning any motives right now until more is known, she was a supporter of gun rights. Heck one Daily Kos reader was pretty upset with her, so who knows, but more likely just a crazed nut job. http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2011/1/6/933828/-My-CongressWOMAN-voted-against-Nancy-Pelosi!-And-is-now-DEAD-to-me!
  7. Should we help pay for security and are these churches facing the same dangers and terrorist attacks in Canada? I tend to think not, but it wouldn't amount to a whole lot of money, but giving to one group means we should give to another doesn't it. I have to wonder if there isn't some other motive behind the suggestion http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/ottawa-notebook/liberals-want-ottawa-to-cough-up-cash-for-coptic-churches/article1861411/ ETA further reading http://blogs.canoe.ca/lilleyspad/general/3931/
  8. Talk about long threads, I'm wearing out the scroll button
  9. Totally agree, I used to look in now and then but can't be bothered anymore, I have little respect for forums that do not allow opposing opinions, and actually seem to be shilling for terrorists, Rabble is one, although unlike some, I think they admit it up front. Other forums don't, they pretend to be diverse but are as bad (as rabble).
  10. Agreed, like an elected Senate and doing away with taxpayers subsidizing political parties, that's the first thing that should be axed. The Ottawa Sun piece was also spot on in "members of the press galley in Ottawa agree with the Liberal positions and don't see them as "controversial" the way Conservative proposals are" therefore the conservative proposals are hyped and spun out to be 'scary scary'. I do remember Paul Martin's attempt to seriously change the OAS ( and screw seniors) fortunately they had to back off that one due to an almost citizen's revolt. if talk starts again about hidden agendas etc. I'd raise that one
  11. Fortunately, they are not so dumb as to believe the propaganda such as yours.
  12. Really, and you know that how - what is the 'average' Canadian, I guess all the people who do vote conservative are above average Good news about the economy doesn't bode well for the Liberals as they have nothing to bitch about, or worth calling an election on, they don't have an issue they can win with - unless there's a downturn just before the election. They'll have to start a fear mongering campaign - maybe they'll resurrect the 'soldiers in the street' add The booga booga Harper is scary stuff doesn't work anymore. Interesting piece here for the benefit of American readers http://www.ottawacitizen.com/technology/Kindly+Canadian+Conservatives/4072148/story.html and here http://www.ottawasun.com/comment/columnists/brian_lilley/2011/01/06/16794191.html
  13. Sheez, wonder if Rubble will post this, Canada is doing very well thank you very much. http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com/2011/01/06/john-ivison-thanks-to-a-low-corporate-tax-rate-prospects-for-the-economy-are-high/ The basis for much of the praise was the reduction in federal corporate income tax rates from 22% in 2007 to 16.5% today (the latest cut from 18% came into effect on January 1 and there is one further cut to 15% coming next year). “Twenty-two years ago, we wrote an editorial—‘North, to Argentina’—warning Canada that economic prosperity isn’t a birthright but requires sound policies like free trade. Nowadays, that’s a lecture Canada could credibly deliver to Washington on business taxes,” opined the WSJ’s editorialists, who lamented the current 40% federal levy in the U.S. It must all make for grim reading for the Liberals
  14. from a previous thread There was no investigation. Baird complained about their announced intentions and Election Canada said there was no reason to presume they were going to violate the spending laws. No review of their advertising costs was ever conducted nor did Elections Canada ever look at their advertising to see what it said. Though I have a sneaking suspicion that f they had been campaigning on behalf of the Conservatives Elections Canada would have set up a branch office just to oversee the massive investigation which would have been launched.
  15. I don't think there are any 'idealogues' from FD, maybe a couple from rubble, FD types are social conservatives, anti abortion, anti birth control and all about religion for the most part, not much of that on here.
  16. Well of course, if the economy wasn't doing well it would be Harper's fault...
  17. I don't see MLW as right wing, maybe a few years ago it was but it isn't now, to me it tilts a bit to port side, but otherwise it's a good mix. ( barring pet trolls of course from rabble ) acchhhh !!!
  18. I don't read him anymore so no need for me to consider the source. However, if the source of the IP came from the PMO then Tory K. had allready left by then. He obviously resigned for the good of the company, but I'm sure they wouldn't take him back if there was a lawsuit over his head.
  19. It's fairly obvious that they aren't doing anything, but - if they really are secretly following through with their attempts to silence free speech with alleged threats of law suits, it should also open the door to an enquiry about their alleged interference and manipulation of our election laws.
  20. More good news Canada has gained all lost during the recession - Go Tories http://www.theglobeandmail.com/report-on-business/economy/jobs/canada-adds-22000-jobs-in-december/article1861039/
  21. Those who condone the hate mongering Avaaz are having hissy fits over their failure to silence views they don't like, so really, who is really poisoning the debate. At least this outed Avaaz for what they are, as we know that they also interfered in our elections. I'm never anti American, but in this case - Yankee go home. http://www.nationalpost.com/m/blog.html?b=fullcomment.nationalpost.com/2010/09/20/kevin-libin-the-third-party-no-one-talks-about
  22. Forget anything from Rabble, they list so far to portside they are not credible, same with these type of posts. I'm quite happy with my "Harper puppet" thank you, he's a good guy for whom I campaigned actively and will again.
  23. Indeed .... of course we know that the real hate monger and opponent of free speech in all of this was Avaaz who seem to think that only liberal opinions should be allowed, so failing in their attempt to muzzle conservative opinions, they attempt to enlist the help of the RCMP, but fortunately failed. Never mind that this is an American outfit attempting to whip up opposition to SunTV, with over the top rhetoric and misinformation, talk of 'hate speech' based on newspaper speculation - have to wonder why - then on failing they have a major hissy fit  ETA: Just thought I'd remind people here that Avaaz said in it's petition, they opposed Sun TV News application because it 'would be "poisonous" to democracy in Canada.' Really, what could be more poisonous to democracy than attempting to stifle free speecha nd opposing views - Avaaz is the organization to be afraid of.
