Palin Event Cancelled for Safety Reasons
scribblet replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Maybe they didn't want to articulate them, and neither did I say that the left is 'full of violent extremists', although they have their share, extremism isn't limited to one side of an issue. I do think many on the left do have PDS though. the acute onset of paranoia in otherwise normal people in reaction to the policies, ... -
LOL - notice that most of it was done without ministerial approval, good thing it's been stopped.

Republican election Fraud
scribblet replied to punked's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
You are right, both sides do engage in it as last year Democrats were indicted in a huge voter fraud In New York. Fortunately, Canada doesn't have the same problems. -
Palin Event Cancelled for Safety Reasons
scribblet replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
If you look further back you will see that I agreed there were no specific threats, it was cancelled because of security concerns, obviously something you think is funny. I'll bet if it were a liberal/democrat you wouldn't think it so funny. The hypocrisy and double standards on here are amazing. -
Last I heard spending money on booze was stopped last year, and rightly so.

Conservatives for , False and Misleading news
scribblet replied to madmax's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
They are not 'letting them lie' nowhere does it say that. The Committee (for 11 years) asked the CRTC to change the current rule to “knowingly” broadcasts news that is “false or misleading and that endangers or is likely to endanger the lives, health or safety of the public.” Doesn't seem untowards to me. Our charter rights for freedom of expression won't mean a thing if these people who think only their way of thinking is acceptable and only they can define what is acceptable, is the correct definition. ETA: you do know that this is a bi-partisan committee of which the co-chair is a Liberal. -

Pure innuendo and speculation. maybe some one could come up with the SC decision? ETA Okay, I got something, this committee has been asking the CRTC for years to change the wording, long before the proposed SunTV came on the scene. This is nothing but a tempest in a teapot, simply, the fact seems to be that the language is vague it needs to be cleaned up. Also bear in mind this is only a call for comments, it's not a done deal yet. Nowhere in the proposed wording is it even implied that news organizations are going to be allowed to knowingly lie, this thing is just another big bogeyman LOL so why did the CRTC take so long dragging it's feet anyway.. http://www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/archive/2011/2011-14.htm http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/crtc-plan-to-lift-ban-on-false-news-prompts-political-investigation/article1898147/ -

Or false and misleading thread titles, along with an inflammatory Star article based on innuendo and of course the usual attempts to censor SunTV . http://mobile.thestar.com/mobile/NEWS/article/934637 http://www.torontosun.com/news/canada/2011/02/07/17185126.html from the NDP LOL http://ca.news.yahoo.com/blogs/dailybrew/proposed-changes-could-most-false-misleading-news-legal-20110114-093010-646.html The NDP could be "hoisted on his own petard" with this one as if followed literally there would be little that could be reported about their Layton's statements or their party's claims. I do see a point, as it seems odd odd to say that a broadcaster can publish news that it knows to be false - so - first thought was that this is intended to protect the CBC. However, the references to a criminal code provision that was found to be unconstitutional and state-sanctioned fact cleared that up. -
British Leader Admits Multiculturalism Has Failed Badly
scribblet replied to bill_barilko's topic in The Rest of the World
Official multicult. is a failure, it doesn't make sense to pay people to be different, or end up in different communities not integrating into the host culture or country. It ends up being tribal with each culture having their own hearth choosing to live apart from one another. One doesn't have to lose all their ethnicity or cultural makeup, although if you choose to leave your country there has to be a conscious decision to leave it behind. What we need to do is require immigrants to take a course on human rights and tolerance, rights which include women, homosexuals and people of other faiths. We should ask them if believe in democracy and equality of all before the law and do they intend to uphold our laws. Cameron is right when he says we need lot less of the passive tolerance of recent years, and the U.K. especially can relate to that. -

Your fabrications are starting to stink - I take that back - your fabrications still stink. Keep your uninformed personal attacks to yourself. -
Palin Event Cancelled for Safety Reasons
scribblet replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
You are right, but there were concerns for her safety and the safety of others, obviously they read enough to be worried, but I guess that doesn't count, better someone gets of a good shot at her before it matters. -

I'm absolutely sure you are wrong - I have never said he is a Muslim as I don't believe he is. So quit with your drive by smears. -

Astonishing Hannity supports Obama - kinda
scribblet replied to Jonsa's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
First off there's no need to bring up other people's names or what they think in a thread they haven't participated in I'm pretty sure that's against the rules. Secondly, where have I ever said that he wasn't born in the U.S. or that he is a Muslim - cos I have not. So please keep me out of your misinformation, innuendo and drive by smears and do not impute words, beliefs or actions to me, that I have never said. -
British Leader Admits Multiculturalism Has Failed Badly
scribblet replied to bill_barilko's topic in The Rest of the World
Britain isn't the only country to admit to the failure of multicult., last fall the German leader made the same statement about Multicultruralism. Denmark, Sweden and Holland are also questioning the policy and practice of multiculturalism, so there seems to be much evidence that more countries are beginning to see the downside. On the bright side, I don't think Russia, China and Japan are about to embrace it any time soon. -

Shady is right, some don't see that they seem to be saying it's okay for Palin to be threatened but not Democrat. Also the derangement seems to be eclipsing even that of BDS Left wing heads explode at the mere mention of her name, one commentator said he’s never in his life seen someone receive such vicious media coverage as Palin, along with the left's continued attempts at character assassination. Whether or not you like her politics, it's the climate of hate and threats which caused the event to be cancelled. the Denver Post said that the planned event as ”both as an awards banquet and a fundraiser, providing financial resources to military families in need and raising money for a grief camp for children who have lost loved ones in combat.” Too bad an event set up to help families and children had to be sacrificed on the altar of liberal hate. For those who seem to be unable to read, Palin never threatened anyone, Loughner's problems started before Palin -

Palin Event Cancelled for Safety Reasons
scribblet replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Obviously there's a double standard here, the Arizona incident was shocking and terrible, but if an event for Palin is cancelled for “Due to an onslaught of personal attacks against Governor Palin and others associated with her appearance" it's not a problem. Sure does give a whole new meaning to PDR -
Palin Event Cancelled for Safety Reasons
scribblet replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Neither, it's about the organizers cancelling an event due to safety concerns over threats to Palin. Not hard to understand. Whether or not you like her isn't the issue here. -
This gives a whole new meaning to "Palin Derangement Syndrome" as one comment said "a fine example of left wing tolerance" http://blogs.abcnews.com/thenote/2011/02/palin-event-cancelled-due-to-onslaught-of-negative-feedback.html ntial Tipsheet ABC News' Clayton Sandell reports: Only one day after a Colorado foundation announced that Sarah Palin would be the keynote speaker at a May 2nd event benefitting military families, the event has been abruptly cancelled thanks to an “onslaught of negative feedback.” “Due to an onslaught of personal attacks against Governor Palin and others associated with her appearance, it is with deep sadness and disappointment that, in the best interest of all, we cancel the event for safety concerns,” said a press release from the Sharon K Pacheco Foundation. The release says no direct threats were made against the former Alaska governor and vice presidential nominee, but cites last month’s tragic shootings in Tucson along with an “increase in negative rhetoric” that raises concerns for Palin’s safety.

Five years on, children still wait for quality care
scribblet replied to Shwa's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The Red Star cannot be trusted to present issues in a neutral light, or even accurately at times. A poll recently showed that most Canadians are more interested in health care and the economy than state run day care, Ignatieff bitches about the deficit but wants 6 billion nationalized day care More nannystate programs, what's next  -
The CRTC, and Useage Based Billing.
scribblet replied to Battletoads's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Why would Tory supporters be peeved any more than anyone else, this isn't the fault of the gov't. it's the CRTC. This is interesting, how did Openmedia know who signed the petition ? http://bcblue.wordpress.com/2011/02/03/how-did-liberal-party-know-i-signed-anti-isp-usage-billing-petition/
