Not to mention that the poll was for the CBC and Ekos is their pollster who has been accused of Liberal bias - so - just think what the Tory lead might be done by another pollster.

Conservatives for , False and Misleading news

I suppose not, The Star title is Tories accused of digging up dirt on ‘Liberal’ profs - hmmm it is all pure speculation with no basis in fact, one person tries to access FOI on two professors who speculate that it might be a conservative - really - and this is journalism - reporting on speculation and innuendo - oh wait it's the Star, should've known. Of course the fact that the CPC has denied making the request doesn't mean anything to rumour mongers. This is not journalism, it's paranoid delusional and too many people are willing to buy into fantasies put forward by them. Many people for many reasons attempt to access information through the FOI, but one has to wonder what these professors have to hide to make them so fearful. As one commentator said: Hooked on a feeling, high on believing.....paranoia is a very interesting condition for which there are several options in treatment. -

Multiculturalism, This Is Not Your Week.
scribblet replied to Jake's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
There is a big difference between being anti immigration and anti official multcult. I've read a lot about the issue and the problems in Europe. N.A. has a chance now to head similar problems off at the pass by refusing to give in to demands that students be exempt from some required classes and so on. We have a chance to see that N.A. doesn't get to the mess Europe is in now. http://www.torontosun.com/news/torontoandgta/2011/02/07/17188881.html -
I suppose the poll is 'disgusting' because someone doesn't like the results.

Multiculturalism, This Is Not Your Week.
scribblet replied to Jake's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I'm not Jake, but we can also see how you are assigning motives to a poster that are not necessarily there. People can dislike multiculturalism without being against immigration. It's how the country handles immigration and what it requires of them. Surely we can have a discussion of multicult. and immigration without the usual accusations being thrown around. -
Multiculturalism, This Is Not Your Week.

I thought I'd add this from the WSJ. Europe is finally (I think) waking up to the detrimental affects of official multiculuralism, that of encouraging a form of apartheid. If N.A. can learn anything from Europe it would be that of learning to "impose" our rules and values on newcomers, tolerance is a two way street, so using thinly veiled accusations of racism no longer works because Europe's experience is a lesson we should learn from. Diversity and pluralism will only work as long there is a core understanding of what our country and values stand for. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704364004576131940794840176.html -

Multiculturalism, This Is Not Your Week.
scribblet replied to Jake's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
LOL Yup - those dam.ed born again Christians are blowing themselves up a lot lately, and beheading an awful lot of people. Really, the moral relativism is right there isn't it as we have liberal American judges scrubbing all remanants of Christianity from the public square cos it's unconstitutional, as Islamist judges in the M.E. rule that Christianity to be executable. Maybe the left just feels that life is expendable so using children as suicide bombers is just fine, but attempting to equate Christianity with radical Islamists is purely a deflection from the issue. An issue which is more focused on Europe at the moment as Canada and the U.S. do not have the same problems yet, but as we see, some of them are waking up. -

Mapleleafweb Will No Longer be Actively Maintained
scribblet replied to Greg's topic in News and Announcements
It's not shutting down yet, but the level of discourse is deteriorating with more personal attacks and expressions of "STFU" etc. That type of behaviour and the increasing amount of personal attacks does not make for a good debate, it lowers the level of discussion. I'd be interested in another diverse forum with good moderation. If you know of any please PM me. thanks -

Here's a fer instance, the Star should be ashamed of itself, and maybe could be charged under current law for spreading false news. Let's get this right...The university receives an anonymous access to information request for two professors - so the Star points immediately to the CPC as likely ‘culprits’ based on pure speculation and unconfirmed suspicions on the part of the Star - say it isn't so LOL http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com/2011/02/11/from-the-toronto-star-possibly-the-lamest-front-page-exclusive-in-the-history-of-canadian-journalism/ -
British Leader Admits Multiculturalism Has Failed Badly
scribblet replied to bill_barilko's topic in The Rest of the World
Many countries are now finding themselves trying to deal with immigrant populations unwilling to accept the laws and values in their adopted societies, this is one of them. It is not unreasonable to expect all immigrants who want to live here to follow our compulsory educational requirements. Read more: http://life.nationalpost.com/2011/02/05/muslim-families-in-winnipeg-want-children-excused-from-certain-classes/#ixzz1DgvH32CF Tariq Fatah has some interesting things to say about it. -
Conservatives for , False and Misleading news
scribblet replied to madmax's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The committee is not using Zundel as the reason to request change, but are using SC ruling. Of course suggesting that conservatives (or anyone else) actually wants false and misleading news is far fetched. In fact, the title of this thread is false and misleading news, so the OP could be charged. -

Palin Event Cancelled for Safety Reasons
scribblet replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Not to mention the double standards. You can't claim that Palin's images and media messages are the root cause of the Gifford event because the nasty political messages and voices beget violence, then change your minds as soon there are hate messages etc. towards Palin. I suppose when directed at Palin, 'it's different' LOL You can't have it both ways. -
Palin Event Cancelled for Safety Reasons
scribblet replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I didn't say they were bogus, obviously there was enough hate mail to raise security concerns for them, enough to cancel the event, supposition about the contents doesn't make it so, neither does it make people look any better for attempting to denigrate and downplay events relating to Palin. If it were anyone else, it would be a big deal. While you may like the sport of excoriating Palin because you dislike her views it is reprehensible and irresponsible to summarily dismiss the facts of the Gifford case while continuing to hold Palin and supporters responsible for a lone gunman, when in proven fact, they were not. As to 'worshiping Palin', where has anyone said they worship anyone, they haven't, just because people see the malicious crap and hate being spewed over the very mention of her name, does not mean they 'worship her'. -
Palin Event Cancelled for Safety Reasons
scribblet replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
thanks for the informative link... truth about that event hurts. It's strange how someone like Sarah Palin brings out the worst in people, such hate and malice, especially from Canadians who aren't invested in her, all we have to do look right here to see how supposedly intelligent people can turn into attack dogs throwing insults when the name Palin is mentioned. Nothing more than Comedy Central theatrics on here. LOL It also shows how delicate the balance of free speech is when a planned onslaught of personal attacks is successful in silence her. It does show who doesn't believe in free speech, but what is worse, is that it worked, organizers caved in to hate. -
Whoever the military supports is in charge - right Sometimes it's better the devil you know than the one you don't know, I just hope that this doesn't turn out to be worse than what they had.
-
Still waiting for a statement but the military I'm sure will be telling people to go home until they can start a transition, their economy is tanking and mob rule won't help that. The military have said they will 'act' if the protesters don't go home. I did hear that the moderates are willing to wait for September and elections, but the question is, what would make the mob happy and are they all on the same page? The hope is that Egypt will have a peaceful transition to democracy while remaining secular.

Palin Event Cancelled for Safety Reasons
scribblet replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Try understanding yourself, obviously you don't understand double standards. If this had been a Democrat, or even a Repub. other than Palin, there would be no problem. -
It would be scandalous if he didn't support Israel

Like you et al are flapping their gums trying to discredit Palin for whatever reason comes to mind. No, I wouldn't vote for her, but I recognize double standards ( and paranoia) here when I see it.
