The CRTC, and Useage Based Billing.
scribblet replied to Battletoads's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Of course, it wouldn't matter what he did some wouldn't like it ( even if they really did LOL ) Have to say, even tho it's a bit off topic, I read another far left site now and then (not rabble) and sometimes I think I'm on another planet ETA: saw this which explains some of the hysteria, there is no truth to the rumour put out by Liberal MP Dan McTeague re: 25 gb limit Read more: http://www.financialpost.com/news/gigabyte+Internet+myth/4214605/story.html#ixzz1CuOjME5v -
NDP could support Harper to avoid election

Increasing CPP benefits would mean raising premiums which are high now, it's not the way to go. I don't have a problem with improving GIS payments for those with low incomes, Ontario should lift the HST on oil and hydro. -

What grapevine, so far I've heard noting - must be on a different grapevine LOL If the gov't overrides the CRTC, what is the point in keeping it, we don't need it. I'm conflicted I tell ya, who's right and can anyone explain it in a concise non partisan manner . Andrew Coyne twittered, and it makes sense “So yet AGAIN govt caves to loudest squawks. We'll all wind up paying more, for slower service, so a few bandwidth hogs can pay less.” Clement tweeted: “This is about forcing a single business model on all competitors. I'm for market choice. I guess you're not.” What do people do to use 95 GB a month ? -

I have to admit I don't fully understand the issue, I do understand that a company has a right to set fees for usage and set limits etc. I don't agree with the CRTC getting heavy handed, and do we really need the CRTC ? As far as I know companies have always limited the usage and charged for overages, I checked mine yesterday to be sure, my limit is 60 g, which I never go anywhere near. They don't want all out war with us (west) right now, only Israel, that is fairly clear. If and when they have the power and the world demographics then we could see war, likely not in our time.

Right on !!

Another interesting piece here from a Muslim American, let's not whitewash the dangers posed. http://www.investigativeproject.org/2547/muslim-american-warns-of-brotherhood-danger

Actually I'm not clear on this whole thing but after reading a bit more it seems that this is really not as bad as it seems. I just checked with my cable provider and so far no changes for me or their customers, I also checked my usage finding it to be way below the maximum allowed. Maybe there are other explanations I could read up on ! Read more: http://opinion.financialpost.com/2011/02/01/terence-corcoran-billing-reversal-would-be-bad-policy/#ixzz1CoRmJxML -
There's a decent piece today from Warren Kinsella, maybe it's better the devil you know than the devil you don't know - be careful what you wish for http://www.torontosun.com/comment/columnists/warren_kinsella/2011/01/31/17105661.html

Right on LOL Actually, the gov't has allready said it will look into the decision. -
Thanks for the clarity Rue.... ETA: If the Brotherhood should be elected in free and fair elections (LOL) then we cannot do anything of course. Look how well Hamas is doing for their people. We and the U.S. of course can withhold foreign aid which is about 1.5 billion a year from the U.S. Hopefully if the worst happens and and Islamic theocracy comes to the power, Obama won't throw Israel under a bus to appease them.
-
Toto - I'm not in Kansas anymore sheez, get a grip man
-
He added that “the people should be prepared for war against Israel,” - all part of the usual Islamist aim I suppose, but sure the Brotherhood wants power, they are waiting for the chance. They are anti west and anti Israel, I believe they care more about those beliefs than really helping Egyptians. The status quo isn't the best option but it's better than an Islamist theocracy, better to support M. now to keep stability, with the caveat that there has to be democratic reform. IMO the U.S. has a chance here to help stabilize the situation.
-
An Islamist theocracy with declared intentions of war with Israel, is not a democracy.
-
Should we be surprised - nope !! As much as we would like to see Egypt evolve into a democracy, the status quo would have to better than what the Muslim Brotherhood has to offer. http://www.jpost.com/Headlines/Article.aspx?id=206130

Anyone here from Mississauga? I've always thought highly of Mayor McCallion but this sheds some light on the issue of conflict of interest. I listened to Mike Bullard on CFRB now and then so was surprised to hear him going on about her, he doesn't like her at all. Eventually he was told by the brass to shut up about it (so he says). It seems he was right. I wonder if she will step down, and does this type of thing make a good reason for term limits for mayors ? http://news.nationalpost.com/2011/01/29/mccallion-inquiry-throws-mayor%E2%80%99s-reign-into-new-light/ cCallion’s tenure and travelled to Mississauga from his home in Cape Breton, N.S., to attend the inquiry.

Killings of newborn babies on the rise in Pakistan
scribblet replied to scribblet's topic in The Rest of the World
I don't understand... I agree there is 'arrested development' in the Muslim world, but that would be because of lack of education and too much of the Koran and repressive regimes who's treatment of women is less than stellar. -

I would consider it if I couldn't find another diverse forum. I agree with an earlier post that without good moderators this could degenerate into Rabble 2.. -

Right, and where is the U.N. on all of this, and the MSM for that matter which seems to be reluctant to spend much time on those issues. -
The Egyptians are writing their own destiny now, let's hope it doesn't turn into worse than what they have now. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/world/crisis-in-egypt/euphoria-gives-way-to-fear-on-cairo-streets-after-protests/article1887830/ Also just heard on the news that Jordan is now on a similar path as the 'unrest' spreads there !!

Killings of newborn babies on the rise in Pakistan
scribblet replied to scribblet's topic in The Rest of the World
It did say more of them are females, and another child was found on the steps of a mosque having been stoned to death on the orders of an extremist imam who has since disappeared.. I don't understand how anyone, no matter what reason could resort to that, IMO it also speaks to the fanatascism of some clerics and how they hold sway over some people. Stoning a baby to death - that is more than barbaric, it's just incomprehensible. -
Good, because the above holds no weight at all, intellectual or otherwise.

future of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak

Israel has a lot to lose if the Brotherhood or some other like minded regime takes over. It's not Israel's problem now, but if the worst scenario happens it could become Israel's problem. -

This is disturbing, infanticide happens because of adultery laws... tragic and hard to understand. http://www.vancouversun.com/story_print.html?id=4128516&sponsor=
