  1. It isn't our tax dollars paying for the CBC ? Not all of it, they do have other revenue sources but most is from gov't subsidies for multi millions, in fact 1.1 billion so I've read. The other is another subject, start another thread or use the old one.
  2. Actually they didn't 'lose it' but never mind, carry one
  3. We make our own wine, but can't make our own moonshine. Copperhead Road anyone
  4. According to this its 1.3 billion, that's a heck of a lot of our tax dollars that could go to better things. http://hallsofmacadamia.blogspot.ca/2013/05/how-much-healthcare-law-enforcement.html Possibly they could use it in speaking against SunTV at the CRTC hearings. More to be heard tonight ( Sat.) but I won't get chance to watch it, maybe it will be repeated.
  5. Thank goodness, good for Mr. Van Loan.
  6. It appears that the CBC has spend oodles of money compiling a dosier on Sun News according to this blogger. That's a lot of our tax dollars that could've been spent on health care or...... http://blazingcatfur.blogspot.ca/2013/05/the-cbcs-black-book-on-sun-news.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:+blogspot/NWSav+%28Blazing+Cat+Fur%29 document here http://www.docstoc.com/docs/document-preview.aspx?doc_id=156153780
  7. You are reading too much BS in the media. My MP is conservative but he's not sending those particular flyers out. Mr. Harper is no more controlling than that "little dictator from Shawnigan" or "little Bully" take your pick.
  8. It is a total lie. Tony Clement did tour the area starting with Bracebridge, he also met with the mayor and others.
  9. The next two years will give us more of an insight into Justin Trudeau, but I don't think a majority want a Trudeau dynasty. No doubt he will provide a lot more fodder for ads in the future. It is hard to believe how the media and people are fawning all over him.
  10. I don't think there is one, I haven't read anywhere that Hudak will do that, One thing he talks about is introducing income splitting which is a good move IMO. He has also said that he will scale scale back the push toward green energy, while lowering homeowners' hydro bills. We do need to look at green energy but there needs to be a moratorium on wind turbines until the gov't health report comes out. It's the Liberals not the previous Harris gov't who've been responsible for rising costs and green energy scams. We can thank McGuinty for the excessive hydro bills, not just from the new meters but from his Green Energy Act which takes away the rights of municipalities, for one thing. He also extended the debt retirement charge for 6 years which was supposed to be paid off last year. His choice to move to the HST also raised hydro bills, that and other tax increases are raping our wallets.
  11. Totally agree !! I see no reason why we can't pick up a bottle of wine or some beer in the grocery store, or the local Daisy Mart as you can in the U.S. It sure makes shopping a lot easier and saves on gas which should make the environmentalists happy. Thank goodness we no longer have to fill in a form and a number to get a bottle (younger people might not remember that). Going out today to pick up a bottle of Vodka and a bottle of Rum, large ones as we are having a family do next week. Fortunately we make our own wine so are well stocked there.
  12. No - just legislate non disclosure of sex until after 20 weeks or so when it's too late for an abortion. This is a new strategy used by the anti choice /pro-lifers to prop up their movement. It won't go away. I wonder though, if f the pro-life people were willing to accept a legislated limit (say 22weeks unless a compelling argument) - quit pushing to take away women's rights alltogether, they might achieve some legislation that very few people would disagree with. It's the continual movement to strip women of all choice sending them to the back alleys with no thought to the woman's health and well being , that destroys any chances for change. Most people know that opening the door to some limits will only result in a push for even more limits on women's rights. T
  13. IMO the pro-life movement is using the 'gendercide' issue to gain support as they know most people have a problem with it.
  14. If you thought the Canadian pro-life movement was all but dead, think again. This isn't going away and gives a new momentum to the MPs who are anti abortion. http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/story/2013/05/08/pol-abortion-march-parliament.html http://live.cbc.ca/Event/Liveblog_March_for_Life_2013?Page=0
  15. It's too bad that people buy into the headlines without getting all the information.
  16. Don't know what she's waffling about, she got nearly everything... I don't really want an election but I'm beginning to think there should be one.
  17. The Liberals are getting close to the 'prize', not likely they would agree to this. They should stand and run on their own merits or actually unite the left.
  18. Too many bureaucrats and departments they are losing track, it's a matter of accounting. As Monty Solberg says in his piece today, maybe we need a more simple accounting system.
  19. I admit I'm not up on this, but In its ad, Irving called the story “inaccurate and inflammatory,” and alleges that CBC “made absolutely no effort” to contact Irving before they broadcast the story – and that Irving only heard form the CBC afterward. I wonder if how accurate all of these articles really are, how much do they get wrong, or how much information do they withhold. http://www.ipolitics.ca/2013/05/06/irving-hits-back-over-cbc-arctic-patrol-ship-story/
  20. Hudak won't support the budget because of the major scandals, e-health, Ornge and the gas plant fiasco, of which Wynne was involved in at least one (gas plant). The Liberals have caved to the NDP demands so there's no reason for the NDP to not approve the budget. The budget is big on spending adding billions to the deficit, and short on details of the 'reviews' on cuts and tax increases, after the budget is passed of course. How can the gov't force insurance companies to reduce their rates, and if they do, what is to stop them from simply reducing benefits ?
  21. I didn't say they were all pedophiles, or that any of them where as a matter of fact, you are imputing words I didn't say. I said "now this could now be used as an excuse by the perverts to get in and go after kids." What's to stop any male from dressing up as a woman under the pretense of being transexual, how do we know - we don't. Any pervert can dress up and go into the washroom now. Personally I don't feel comfortable with men using the ladies rooms. Pre-op they still have it all, so until post-op they should use the mens.
  22. Saw that on the news today. I'm guessing he/she will win because a bill has been passed on this. http://news.nationalpost.com/2013/03/21/transgender-bathroom-bill-passes-with-crucial-support-of-16-tories/ I really do having a problem with men using women's bathrooms, now this could now be used as an excuse by the perverts to get in and go after kids.
  23. Less than stellar to be sure. We are being mislead by the media and not only on this issue as they fail to give all the information much of the time. They suggest and imply lots leaving it up to readers' imaginations. I also don't think that the gov't is doing a good job of getting out their information and reasoning. I'd rather they spent the Trudeau-ad money on buying space in the papers to rebut.
  24. The BC NDP have dropped their candidate Jane Shin for what are saying is a racial slur made about 10 years ago.
  25. No where in the report does it say OMG, the Tories have lost a few billion. http://www.oag-bvg.gc.ca/internet/English/parl_oag_201304_08_e_38193.html#hd5d 8.21 As we noted, the Treasury Board allocated $12.9 billion for Initiative activities, but departments and agencies reported spending only $9.8 billion. We therefore asked the Secretariat for information that could help explain how the remaining $3.1 billion allocated between 2001 and 2009 was used. 8.22 We found that the Treasury Board generally restricted the way departments and agencies could use the funds, but it allowed reallocations. In such cases, the Secretariat was to receive assurance from departments and agencies that there would be no impact on the Initiative's activities for which funding had originally been allocated. 8.23 We asked Secretariat officials for information on whether such reallocations had occurred and whether assurances were provided by departments. We were informed that discussions took place between the departments and agencies and the Secretariat as part of the normal program challenge function. However, financial information on reallocations was not captured. The Secretariat, however, worked with us to identify several possible scenarios: - The funding may have lapsed without being spent. - It may have been spent on PSAT activities and reported as part of ongoing programs spending. - It may have been carried forward and spent on programs not related to the Initiative.
