  1. Not many thankfully, but David Kilgour had successfully crossed the floor.
  2. It's the same dream where Belinda Stronach wins the Conservative Leadership on the second ballot.
  3. What I find funny M.C. is that you cannot bring yourself to say that Martin is better capable to run or represent the country. Don't worry though, I can't either.
  4. Cruze, It appears more and more Canadians are turning around to your way of thinking and turning away from our socialist friend's way. Rumour has it that the Conservatives trail the Lieberals by only 6 percentage points now. Lieberal Freefall Tis only a matter of time, my friend.
  5. That is a great analogy.
  6. I would guess, should they win their seats, Stephen will give them both prominent roles in cabinet/shadow cabinet. Clement does have experience as a Cabinet Minister and it would be wise to keep Belinda in the public eye as she can obviously attract a lot of media attention.
  7. Yeah... ...it was pretty close.
  8. Doesn't sound like you have read the Kyoto Protocols, n'est pas?
  9. I won't tell you my thoughts, but I will direct you to those of someone you undoubtedly respect: http://www.warrenkinsella.com/musings.htm
  10. We should remember that if Stephen were to accept Layton's challenge and school him in policy, it does nothing to further the Conservative cause, but rather set it back. Look, embarrassing Layton will only pull votes away from the NDP and hand them to the Liberals. Harper isn't about to do the job Martin is incapable of, that is winning debates against political adversaries. It benefits Conservatives if the vote on the left is sufficiently split so that the Conservatives come out ahead. Harper's plan will be focus his energies against Martin and the Liberals. Layton needs a little more media attention, and this is a good way, albeit transparent way, to get that attention.
  11. Not confusing at all. The Conservative Party polling low in between elections should not be surprising. The Canadian Alliance also polled lowed in between elections. Once a leader is chosen, and an election is called, and the campaign begins, have no fear, the numbers will change.
  12. Are you that dense Stanley or are you deliberately asking questions you already know the answers to in some juvenile attempt to paint Harper in a negative light. Most of the 11 byelections you refer to occurred shortly after Harper became leader of a fractured party, which he helped restore, and most of the 11 byelections occurred in ridings that traditional vote non-conservative. As for running for the Conservative party, Stephen Harper has already publicly stated that he will run whether or not he is chosen as leader.
  13. Can't argue with this... ... mostly because I have no idea what you are talking about. Anyway, Belinda won her nomination by over a hundred votes, if the preliminary numbers are accurate. I'm thinking if she could barely by one riding, winning the leadership will be near impossible. Belinda's time is almost up. Phew!
  14. Martin: Forget about it. Layton: I trust him to run this country into the ground given the chance. Harper: I believe him to be the politician with the most integrity. Clement: The impression I get from him up to now is that he is worthy of placing my trust at this point. Stronach: Hard to trust someone who does not appear to have a working knowledge of major issues.
  15. Yo! Belinda... Another careless and ameteur mistake, non? Does this not also point to a pattern of mistakes which our party cannot afford going into an election. Did you think these words you uttered in reference to Mr. Stephen Harper wouldn't come back and bite your pretty little ass?
  16. The B.C. Liberals have nothing to worry about. They have about 15 months before the next election. The balanced budget should win them back some points... ...this poll was taken before the release of the budget. Considering Carol James is the leader of the NDP, I can sleep fairly well knowing that the NDP will not be in power for at least 5 years.
  17. Goldie makes some valid observations.... ...seems to "get it" more than you, as your lazy rebuttal would indicate. Please describe how you have come to the conclusion that the label "right-wing extremist" applies to Stephen Harper. The more it is said doesn't make it more true.
  18. I hate when good analogies go bad.
  19. I haven't seen it yet, but I've heard that Harper's performance was considerably better.... ....I would have been surprised with any other outcome. I'll have to wait till the CBC rebroadcasts the debate later tonight.
  20. I don't believe I've heard any Harper suporters say they would not support the party if Clement wins. I have heard many say that they will not support the party if Belinda wins... ...myself included.
  21. Vote Liberal then. If Stronach wins, I will not support this party. I'm sure many others will not either. The next new party to hail from the west will not be saying the west wants in... ...they will proclaim: the west wants out.
  22. What I find pathetic is that someone with so few postive attributes can garner 20% of the vote. I think it is important to mention that she is unilingual and that she has never been elected to office as these are significant criteria to be used in selecting a leader in this country. Some one say that "Western Canada" and Canadian Alliance" are also negative attributes.
  23. Stronach will start off well support-wise, but will end up dropping hard after only a few public appearances. If the leadership hopefuls get together in some kind of public debate, Harper will win on the first ballot.
