  1. Not sure if this includes me. I've been here for awhile. I decided to change my user name today to one I use on other boards. ...formerly Kanada Dry.
  2. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I agree. Not a big mistake, but it doesn't help his image. Harper should stay above the fray, behave like a statesman and leave the hyperbole and juvenility to Martin.
  3. Harper calls for special prosecutor to watch gov't Looks like the Conservatives will be revealing their platform issue by issue again. Should be interesting to hear how the Liberals respond to this one. CTV Link Snippett:
  4. I found this interesting too. If the man is such a "star" you would think he would sail through the nomination process. Why worry? From what I understand, these two candidates will be allowed to run, but I'm sure Ignatieff will get the nod by a landslide.
  5. Hmmmm.... ....boards at 50+ must've gone down
  6. I'd say bring it on.
  7. Bakunin: Looking at those numbers and considering the current political climate, would it be wise for Mr. Duceppe to hold off on a referendum or do you feel there is adequate support at this time to move forward?
  8. Actually, that is an opinion that is easily disproven. But since you make the claim, feel free to state your case. Enquiring minds want to know.
  9. If you were to reside politically in the ultraviolet part of the spectrum, Harper would appear to be extreme from your vantage point.
  10. One of the planks in Harper's Hidden Agenda platform was should the Conservatives win, all Canadians unable to produce a Conservative membership card were to be relocated to the U.S. south where they were to be forced into bondage as slave farm labour. I'm not kidding.
  11. It has occurred to me. Roughly 30% of the population is conservative... ...and a large part of this percentage is concentrated in the west sans southwest British Columbia. Perhaps the best solution would be an amicable divorce. The ideological divide continues and there doesn't appear to be any way to reconcile the differences. Considering that the views of conservatives are viewed as "codswallop", most Canadians would likely be thrilled to be rid of this conservative minority. By the way, proportional representation will in no way address this problem... ...it will exacerbate it. That 30% will be forever muffled in such a system.
  12. Hard to say as I'm not sure which political analyists will be on which networks. Having said this, I will probably start by switching back and forth between Global and CPAC. Judging by the election coverage from CTV and CBC as of the last few days, I won't bother checking them... ...unless of course it looks like the Conservatives may pull off an upset than I'll take a peak to see if I can catch Mansbridge cry.
  13. Yes it is. I believe they're closing the polls a little bit later back east and a little bit earlier out here. I think results from the Atlantic will be trickling in as the polls in B.C. are close to being closed.
  14. I'll repost my predictions from Free Dominion here: BC: Lieberals: 9 Conservatives: 19 NDP: 7 Cadman: 1 Alberta: Lieberals: 2 Conservatives: 26 Saskatchewan: Lieberals: 2 Conservatives: 6 NDP: 6 Manitoba: Lieberals: 4 Conservatives: 5 NDP: 5 Ontario: Lieberals: 61 Conservatives: 33 NDP: 12 Quebec: Lieberals: 28 Bloc: 47 New Brunswick: Lieberals: 7 Conservatives: 2 NDP: 1 Nova Scotia: Lieberals: 6 Conservatives: 3 NDP: 2 Newfoundland: Lieberals: 5 Conservatives: 2 Territories: Lieberals 3 Canada: Lieberals: 131 Conservatives: 96 Bloc: 47 NDP: 33 Cadman: 1
  15. I would say at this time there is very little support in B.C. However, when I ask conservative minded people if they would consider supporting secession, they respond by saying that they would entertain the idea. There is support in Alberta, but currently not at levels that would warrant concern. However, I don't think it would take much for that support to baloon. Once Albertans are personally affected financially, I would guess that support would increase. This would require several events taking place simultaneously. For example, continued mis-management of taxpayer's money, continued investment in expensive programs that are considered unnecessary along with a significant downturn in the economy - a recession. Most of us want a social safety net, but we may differ on the size and number of social programs.
  16. Yes there is, but I don't think that is the issue. I think the main issue is that there appears to be quite a large ideological divide growing within the country. It is almost impossible for the third of the population favouring one political ideology to elect a government that best represents their views when the other two thirds continually deny them. As a large part of of this third is concentrated in one region, one option is to do without what cannot be done from within Canada.

  18. "As I suspected, the wheels have fallen off the Harper Conservatives' bus." Looks like it is all over folks. Hopefully, the Conservatives can at least retain official party status.
  19. Murray's Bridge: A million dollar toilet, eh? .... ....sounds about right considering the Lieberals were involved.
  20. You mean he was like standing right beside him.... ...SHAKING HIS HEAD! Why didn't the moderator disqualify Harper. For the sake of all things great and small, this is Canada damnit... ...we should not be subjected to such insolent behavour. I was going to vote for Harper, but I've changed my mind... ...I'm voting for Quimby.
  21. Appears that some people are not clear on the concept of free votes. I know Duceppe is well aware that free votes, by there very nature, do not bring governments down.... ....but highlighting that would make his utterances alot less dramatic.
  22. Thanks for the update BQS.
  23. A.F. Cadman lost the nomination battle to represent the Conservatives, but he hasn't lost the seat yet. Actually, polls suggest he may be re-elected as an Independent.
  24. Is it not against board rules to post under a number of different user names?
