Spring Election just months away...
Ricki Bobbi replied to SamStranger's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
They won't roll out any "treat-homosexuals-differently" laws. Just more *scary* *scary* *scary* from the Harper haters. Harper has to quiet the socons in his caucus. That's why he will ask Parliament in a free vote if it wants to re-open the debate on SSM. The vote will fail. The socons will have had their day, everybody will be happy. This is exactly the way Mulroney handled abortion with the socons in his caucus. SSM is here to stay. The so-called follow-up legislation that was rumoured to be coming wouldn't treat anybody differently. It just wouldn't force practitioners of faith to perform marriages if it is against their beliefs. The right to get married isn't the right to force somebody to marry you against their wishes... -
CP: Mackay controversy flares anew
Ricki Bobbi replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Nine posts ago you chastised me for my behaviour on the board. I have admitted MacKay said that about ten times. Why attack me like you just did???? He claimed he did not call her a dog. He didn't call her a dog. Don't start a fight over it. Don't attack me over it. Just behave reasonably and I'll do the same... -

"You already have her." Sorry, gotta explain how that is 'incredibly stupid'. -

The 'lying' isn't so clear cut. Did he 'infer' she was a dog? Maybe. Did he 'gesture' towards her seat? Maybe. Did he actually call Stronach a dog? No. He is a lawyer which probably explains the hair-splitting. I have said it before. MacKay proved his honesty and moral fibre with the PC leadership. This isn't such a big deal. (btw to clarify he should never have made the promise to Orchard in the first place. Once becoming leader he couldn't keep his word.) I think this 'controversy' speaks volumes about politics in Canada at the moment. Scary Harper has been in power for nine months and this is the biggest 'controversy' of his administration? Sounds like steady, honest, reliable Government to me. The Liberals promised to provide an effective and strong opposition. This is the best they can come up with? -
What exactly are you talking about? NOW I want to know what YOU are talking about.

THIS is real anti-Harperism
Ricki Bobbi replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
CNN isn't really pro-Democratic, it's just that FOX is so blatantly pro-Republican people think there has to be a counter-balance. Kinda like the lefties here who call CTV pro-Conservative just because CBC is so blatantly pro-leftist... -
Prominent Conservative Mp's "Miss the Alliance"
Ricki Bobbi replied to SamStranger's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Fig, your *exceptions* are the very height of self-serving. Garth played the loyal to the party MP role ... until he found out he wasn't getting into cabinet as he felt he so rightly deserved. Then he 'stood up for himself and took the lumps of defiance'??? Cadman was a different case. The party doesn't defend sitting MPs in nomination battles period. Chuck whined in caucus instead of organizing. He lost the nomination, ran as an independent and won. Good on him. When it came to the parliamentary vote Cadman saved the Martin government on in the May of 2005 there is a far more sinister explanation for his actions then the self-serving PR of "doing what my constituents wanted." At the time of the vote Cadman knew he was on death's door, malignant melanoma is a nasty battle he was losing. The pension for the surviving spouse of a sitting MP is far more lucrative than the pension for the surviving spouse of a retired MP - even one who is receiving a parliamentary pension. Cadman died less than two months after saving the Martin government .... -
CP: Mackay controversy flares anew
Ricki Bobbi replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Don't really think it has become an issue with voters. The Harper-haters are using it to attack him. Conservative supporters are supporting the party and the PM. Swing voters .... probly couldn't care less. -
CP: Mackay controversy flares anew

You didn't 'threaten' to send a note to Greg asking for an apology. Your avoidance of the quesiton is pretty weak and lame. Your threat was weak, you had no reason to make it. You have no credibility. You sir are an embarassment. You are a plague on this message board. You are here to do nothing but attack, attack and attack. I have provided you with a response. You pathetic 'this is real anti-Harperism' thread was yet another example. Your continuation of this story is another example. You waste bandwidth with your attacks. By sidelining you, I expose you for the vain personal agenda you are attempting to carry out. -

To continue to spread your hatrred for our Prime Minister. Under the pathetic ruse of showing 'real' anti-Harperism without any criticism of what you provided! -
Questions Raised on Military Plane Purchases
Ricki Bobbi replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Likening the CF-18 maintenance contract to the downfall of the Progressive Conservatives is akin to likening the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand to the start of WWI or the Gulf of Tomkin 'incident' starting the Vietnam War.... Both match the timeline but they were all inevitably going to happen. It was impossible to maintain the Western Canada-Quebec coalition in the Mulroney-lead PCs. Especially given the inherent tensions that existed. It was far too complex a series of events to just have been caused by the awarding of one contract. No sir, I do not agree with your analysis of the situation. -
Spring Election just months away...
Ricki Bobbi replied to SamStranger's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
You make some good points. But your conclusion doesn't follow from what you say. If the Conservatives and the bloc want an election in the spring, we'll see one in the spring. If the bloc see the Liberals and Conservatives splitting the federalist vote in Quebec we will see a vote in the Spring... -
Saskatchewan cutting Provincial Sales Tax
Ricki Bobbi replied to Rovik's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Not entirely accurate. Do remember the Liberals were the only one's using that line. The NDP opposed it flat out... -

Ricki Bobbi replied to SamStranger's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I think the Conservtives have the advantage with the way the polls are now. The Conservatives have much more control over the timing of the election than any one of the other parties. The Conservatives have tons of money that they can spend on pre-election advertising. Harper proved himself to be a shrewd poltiical tactician in the last election. -
Saskatchewan cutting Provincial Sales Tax
Ricki Bobbi replied to Rovik's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Didn't the Federal NDP campaign against cutting the GST saying tax cuts would better help the working poor??? -
I was noticing the new recruiting ads. Professionall, cool and have probably played a role in increasing the number of people interested in signing up. See what happens when Government advertising money is used to buy the best possible ads ....

...and there are still Senators who were selected by a Prime Minister who hasn't held office for more than 20 years!

That much is clear sir.

CP: Mackay controversy flares anew
Ricki Bobbi replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
You have ignored so many questions posed to you by so many posters here, why would you expect any other behaviour in return? So I take it you didn't send a note to Greg. Why not? Again, MacKay should apologize. Anything more is unnecessary. -
Do the Canadian people really want a third election in less than three years? The election will be this spring everybody knows that....

$6.7 billion Surplus? Cut Taxes
Ricki Bobbi replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
But you said that the Government should refund the surplus to taxpayers. Are you saying you wouldn't mind if they invested the surplus, but they shouldn't use it to pay off the debt?
