What the CBC has done for you lately...
Ricki Bobbi replied to Higgly's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Don't watch it. No harm or foul to you. With the CBC I don't have any choice about my tax dollars subsidizing its operations. Even though I don't watch it, it still costs me money every day. -
Conservatives Plans News Tax on Trusts
Ricki Bobbi replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Actually the right-wing pressed *howled* at the Liberals because Scott Brison leaked the story to his buddies. Sending a signal is not in the best interests of the market. They did it, did it efficiently and without leaks. Level playing field for all... -
Conservatives Plans News Tax on Trusts

Situations change. At the time Harper made the promise he never envisioned EnCana, Telus and BCE converting to trusts. It's a minor issue. Already out of the news cycle. From a story in today's Globe and Mail. (Considered a 'pro-business' paper IIRC.) How much more revenue would have been lost? -

You did that sir. What is that "something" the buzz would accomplish? -

Normie, you make no sense. What does any of these mean? -

I think you are the fifth person to bring up poor David Orchard in this thread. Who gives a f*ck about Orchard? He's so 'loyal' that he's now a Liberal and supporting Dion in the leadership. wrf? -

You'll probably see both. The income trust announcement makes it affordable for the Conservatives to do both. -

Uhhh, yeah. Nobody tries to hide their disdain for the CBC. Just goes to prove the crap you get when financial survival isn't a consideration when creating programming for a television network. -

Best interest of the country ... sure. The income trust conversions were seriously hurting the treasury. They had to make a choice between that and no more tax cuts in other areas... Timing is the big issue with this one. By doing it now it gives the party the chance to make it up to the voters they have alienated by the move. -

Gerry, if you don't like the threads don't post on them. The CBC is funded by the Federal Government with over $1 Billion a year in taxpayers money. In the eyes of many Canadians, including many posters here, it uses the funding to pay for an activist, left-leaning agenda. It is clear that you cannot abide by anybody disagreeing with you. Odd you want to spend your time on a discussion forum with many different views. -
Layton won't rule out no-confidence motion
Ricki Bobbi replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The NDP has no plan. Oppose the PM seems to be enough in their minds. That's the beauty of never having a chance to form Government! -

Practically Canadian, but it doesn't count as Canadian under the baloney Cancon laws. Why exactly should those Cancon laws exist? -
Layton won't rule out no-confidence motion
Ricki Bobbi replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
No, but Layton should treat Harper with the respect that the office of PM deserves. Holds sway? wtf does that mean. Will you please quit swearing here. There are rules. We understand you have no respect for the rules of the forum or the government. Quit flouting the rules troll. -

MacKay broke up with Stronach? Whatever... Spector, can't explain what he was thinking in that interview... -

Ricki Bobbi replied to Higgly's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Everyday. I have been in offices where i have thought it. One of the worse ones I actually witnessed far more depravity and evil beahviour than anything they could get away with on TV. Worst 15 months of my life... -

That's part of the brilliance of The Office. It is funny because it is true. Take the meanness for an example. You may not see such explicit meanness in a real office, but I guarantee people are thinking it. -
Harper to negotiate with the NDP
Ricki Bobbi replied to Canadian Blue's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
This is a big test of Layton's maturity as a leader. Harper will not put Kyoto on the table. If Layton pushes for that there will be no deal. If Layton recognizes the situation and helps build a *made-in-Canada* solution he can help really hurt the Liberals. If the NDP can come to an agreement on this the Liberals are f*cked. Layton looks more palatable to centre-left persuadable Liberal voters and Harper looks more attracative to centre-right persuadable Liberal voters. Man, oh man this is very good news for everybody but the Liberals... -
What the CBC has done for you lately...
Ricki Bobbi replied to Higgly's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Uhh no. HNIC is going to leave the CBC anyways. The economically viable stuff will stay. Even the stuff that stays afloat with minor funding from Heritage Canada is ok. Still saves taxpayers a billion a year for an outlet that blatantly pushes an agenda. -
Spring Election just months away...
Ricki Bobbi replied to SamStranger's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I guess. He has done a decent job at the Treasury Board. When a race comes the more the merrier. Just not as long as this Liberal race. My gawd, another month... -
What the CBC has done for you lately...
Ricki Bobbi replied to Higgly's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Yes, completely agreed about the crapiness. Don't know what can be done about it, but $1 Billion a year to subsidize the CBC and the political agenda it pushes is not the answer... -

Lord is still leader of the opposition and an MLA in New Brunswick. Danny Williams as leader? Hmmmmm, don't think his French is so good. Not sure if his level of 'outspokenness' has endeared him to many within the Federal party... Prentice would be a great choice. While the Liberals can have consecutive PMs from Ontario are Canadians really open-minded enough to have consecutive Conservative PMs from Calgary? -

That's the point. Maybe you shouldn't make such outrageous claims. -
Spring Election just months away...
Ricki Bobbi replied to SamStranger's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The most consecutive minorities we have had in history is three. If the spring produces another minority I think we will definitely see some changes for the following election. Another minority and Harper probably resigns (win or lose) without a doubt if he loses. Whoever the new Conservative leader is will definitely not be as polarazing as Harper. MacKay? the Stronach thing hurts him and the sellout of the PCs doesn't help but he is moderate. Something tells me MacKay would lead the party to slaughter. Prentice? The only real strike against him is he is Albertan. Moderate on social issues, good resume, decent French. An honest, good man. Bernard Lord? His ship has probably sailed, but he could win a general big time. Can anyone think of a potential conserative leader who would be more polarazing than Harper? Two kicks at a minority government and an election with a new leader might be enough to allow people to trust the Conservatives with a majority. ***IF*** we don't win a majority in the spring. -

Unfortunately his viewers do vote. What baffles me is they moved that p.o.s. The Hour to the 11 PM timeslot on the main network. That is a prime spot.
