  1. Unreported????? Undisclosed????? Get real. Re-classified. i.e. it was classified incorrectly. It was reported. Keep trying, this isn't Gomery. Or even close. At least you have grown up a little and quit swearing.
  2. They admitted to disclosing the donations and other funds incorrectly. What I would want is for you to stop swearing and deal with this situation honestly. Something tells me I am not going to get what I want.
  3. Who is screaming? Examples of the screaming? What is an appropriate level for a minister of the state to travel at? There was no wrong committed by Guergis and Emerson. It was a reasonable expense.
  4. So instead of providing proof you swear at me and question my sexuality? Good work. You sir, epitomize the inellectual honesty of the Canadian Left.
  5. Nobody has mentioned any polls on this thread. I haven't seen any polls released since this issue with Elections Canada was resolved.
  6. Fiscal responsibility implies using taxpayer dollars as frugally as possible within reason. That's what the Conservatives have been doing. Don't know what friscal responsiblity is.
  7. Read the original post. There was $1,500 over the amount allowed by LAW. It has been returned. What law did GW Bush change in the US? So you are backing away from your false claim about people changing their votes over the issue? Good debate. You are adding a lot of new points and making your points clearly and consistently. The mis-characterizations won't fly with the voters. Which I take it you are tacitly admitting.
  8. So it's not Europe where people remember the Canadian contribution to the war anymore but just Holland? I guess.... Germany and Austria was cool but they didn't really care too much about Canada. Except for the skiiers which I thought was pretty cool. People still remembered the crazy canucks.
  9. There is no proof it was a deliberate action. Provide some and I will take a look. I'm sorry but you calling it a deliberate action does not make it so. Corruption is always a concern for voters. A differing interpretation of the Elections Act is not corruption. Provide some actual proof of corruption. The Liberals were proven to be corrupt by Justice Gomery. *Nobody* is alleging corruption over this issue. I take it your ignoring my question means you have *never* read the Elections Act.
  10. Three realistics. 1. Chicoutimi - Le Fjord. See how well Jean-Pierre Blackburn is treating the people just down the road in Jonquiere. 2. Portneuf - Jacques Cartier. Andre Arthur has cancer. Won't run again. This is a riding with an open mind. 3. Quebec. The only seat in Quebec city the CPC didn't win in January. Five long shots. 1. Gaspesie - Iles de le Madeleine 2. Haute - Gaspesie - La Mitis - Matane - Matapedia 3. Montmercy - Charlevoix - Haute - Cote Nord 4. Roberval - Lac St. Jean 5. Trois Rivieres. All are rural ridings that aren't hardcore separatist and will be more inclined to support the military. You'd only need the Liberal vote to return to 2000 levels. i.e. the last election Cunningham didn't run. The united right-wing vote, i.e. the PC and Canadian Alliance vote topped Svends vote in 2000. NDP 17,018 CA 15,057 PC 2,477
  11. Sharkamn, you are wasting your breathe. (typing effort?) Some posters here are attacking over and over about petty little things due to personal issues more than anything else. Anger about the Liberals losing their rightful place? Anger that the NDP will never win government? Anger because they had candy stolen from them as a child? Best to let that anger stew and fester. No real debate there. I *guarantee* nobody will show you a more frugal trip by the Liberals. The interesting thing about these angry leftists is they aren't accomplishing anything with their attacks. All of these supposed Conservative malfeasances simply serve to illustrate how much more honest and competent the Government of Stephen Harper is vis-a-vis Paul Martin...
  12. Because they are human beings. They made a mistake. It was dealt with in less than 8 months. No need for a judicial inquiry. You already said that four different methos of trying *to* hide money is not a mixup. Do you like repeating yourself? I don't, so this will be the last time. All the money was reported. Not hidden. Try adding a little bit of facts to your posts. Yes, yes you are. If you really want to allege fraud, why not pick out one part of the Elections Act the party contravened? My guess is you have never read any portion of it. Or am I wrong?
  13. The 8 in Quebec and 7 in Ontario are doable. Remember you asked for plausible. BC is much easier to prove. 1. BC Southern Interior - A 13-year old seat that was considered safe for the CPC to hold. Until the candidate's undisclosed charge of smuggling had his court date set two weeks before the election. We'll take that one back. 2. Newton - North Delta - Even after the nightmare of Gurmant Grewal the CPC fared well. Trailed by only 1,600 votes in a tough three way race. 3. Richmond. With an extremely socon candidate, i.e. Darrell Reid, the party came within 1,800 votes of beating Raymond Chan. A more moderate candidate and this is a winnable seat. 4. West Vancouver - Sunshine Coast - Sea to sky highway. Despite the retirement of the very popular John Reynolds the CPC still came within 1,000 votes. A 2% swing in this riding gives it to the Conservatives. 5. Esquimalt - Juan De Fuca. As you mentioned. 6. Vancouver Island North. - Incumbent John Duncan lost by 630 votes. A resurgent Liberal Party helps Duncan win the seat back. 7. New West Minster Coquitlam - Incumbent Paul Forsyth held his winning percentage of the vote from 2004 in 2006. Lost because of the collapse of the Liberals. Again a resurgent Liberal Party helps the CPC take back another seat. 8. Burnaby Douglas - This riding has always been a pretty even split between the right and left. Svend represented the riding, and provided effective yet histrionical representation, helped by a divided right. In 2004 and 2006 the Liberals did very well with Billy Cunningham as the candidate. As a member of Paul Martin's "Board" Cunningham was able to bring in the PM and tons of cabinet ministers in both elections. He increased the vote by about 10 points from 2000. He took about 80% of those votes from the right. With Cunningham finally seeing the writing on the wall look for the next Liberal victim to fall back to historical levels and a strong resurgence for the CPC candidate.
  14. I find it sad, when blindly partisan Harper-haters continue to misrepresent the facts. The Conservatives were not hiding anything. A big chunk of the funds were reported as belonging to individual electoral district associations instead of the party HQ. All were reported. No fraud in the way they were reported. No advantage to the way they were originally written. If the funds were hidden it would have take far longer than 8 months to uncover the alleged deception. Holy crap man, take off the blinders of hate. Canadian political parties rely on volunteers to do much of the grunt work, including the legal work. The issues surrounding the changes to the Elections Act were pretty complex. Mistakes happen all the time in the law and accounting. Nobody from Elections Canada or the Media has alleged fraud in this case.
  15. I beg to differ. I think they are being quite lazy in trying to justify their hate. They simply took a mixup between the CPC and Elections Canada and are trying to create a huge fraud out of the issue. If they were trying hard they would really look for something to complain about that average voters might care about. But then again that would take work and effort. They seem to be much happier preaching to the converted.
  16. I don't know if it is a matter of charisma. Conservatives by nature are more concerned about fiscal matters. That's why we tend to look at things like this more objectively than the shrill left. When something like this is treated as such a crime by hiti and his fellow Harper-haters you just have to shake your head... Again the terrible analogy between a minister doing his job and the GGs frivoulous jaunts. Can't these guys come up with anything of substance to whine about.
  17. Just to refresh your memory. You said: so, who are these *people* "who were sick of government corruption voted CPC ... will go back to the Liberals"? Or were you just making them up? There is no logical fallacy in my question, ergo there is no strawman.
  18. Scam millions? Maybe, just maybe, the Conservtives are too busy running competent Government to scream bloody murder. No explanation for your *strawman* analogy? Still haven't heard from anybody who voted for the Conservatives in January but not now because of this elections act issue. Like you said existed...
  19. Neither did the Conservatives? The story that started this thread was about 2005 events.
  20. So you are admittng that your *knowledge* about people who voted Conservative on the basis of corruption and their future voting intentions was pulled out of thin air? Why can't 3.5 million dollars be a mix up? Seemed like a fair question if your assetion was correct. What the hell is a strawman anyways?
  21. catchme did you vote Conservative in January and are now going to vote Liberal because of the Elections Act mixup? Did anybody who is making an issue of this? All the attacks over the issue appear to be coming from partisans who would never vote Conservative. Can anybody on the board honestly say they voted Conservative in January but won't in the next election because of this issue?
  22. Why did the Liberal dominated senate block key elements of the Accountability Act? The issue with the Elections Act was dealt with in 8 months. Less than $1,500 was beyond legal limits. Nice try though...
  23. So you ask others to support their facts while not supporting yours? Very interesting.....
  24. Opinion presented as fact without any support.
  25. Medicore policy? The best we have seen in 13 years. The Conservatives ethical standards far surpass anything the Liberals did. Instead of pointing to all these *loopholes*, just give us an alternative. Anything presented by another political party will do.
