  1. I'll watch it once. If it confirms all the prairie hick stereotypes it hints at in the ads I will be far from shocked. If it surprises me I'll say so.
  2. Then why not state that explicitly. If you want to take the high road better to do it before somebody calls you on taking the low road...
  3. How could somebody disprove your *convenient* memory? You won't even consider voting Conservative so why should they care what you think? The people got tired after hearing the Liberals yell *scary* *scary* *scary* for 13 years. That gives us 12 more years of using *corruption* *corruption* *corruption*... I'm sure if you would have communicted your potential for embarassment to the Minister's office she would have acted differently.
  4. What about the line I quoted? The dumb, white prairie hick makes a sexist racist comment to the poor, over-worked, over0-educated, misunderstood Muslim woman. That is definitely an indication. Note there is no denial that there are muslims who hate Western culture and have been responsible for repeated terrorist attacks. Is this *stereotype* being attacked? Why not? Afraid of what???
  5. Good retort - but you have to admit: the prairies are probably the worst breeding grounds for academic superiority complexes. Stick a university schmuck (yes - I was one too) amongst a bunch of common sense, hardworking people who speak the truth instead of trying to bend it. It's a lot harder to preach social engineering academic bullshit when the people around you don't buy it. And it makes for some really frustrated passive aggressive ivory towers We'll see what happens I suppose.... Why is it a good retort? That issue has already been dealt with. The network execs who greenlighted the project are silver-spoon GTA types...
  6. Never said that it was intend to stereotype all western Canadians. Read what I wrote. *Prairie folk doesn't imply everybody from the prairies.* Never said that it was intend to stereotype all western Canadians. Read what I wrote. *Prairie folk doesn't imply everybody from the prairies.* Never said that it was intend to stereotype all western Canadians. Read what I wrote. *Prairie folk doesn't imply everybody from the prairies.* Why is it hysteria? When Muslims complain about the stereotyping on the show will you accuse them of lapsing into politically correct hysteria? If it's so silly why post repeatedly on the subject.
  7. Good analysis. I think you can take it as a given the show will take some liberties with respect to white-redneck stereotypes. And that they won't offend Muslims.
  8. He isn't. He is just more representative of the Toronto silver-spoon socialist view of hick prairie folk. In this myopic view hick prairie folk say ignorant, racist and sexist things to poor hard working over-educated muslims. I have never seen any of the characters on Corner Gas say anything as offensive as is portrayed in the ads for LMoP. Which just plays into the Toronto silver-spoon, and your, stereotype that all prairie falk are dim-witted idiots.
  9. But that doesn't apply to the Liberals/NDP and their comments on this thread?
  10. Why would the Government do that? The Liberals followed the same formula of demonizing the opposition and promoting themselves as the only *credible* option for 13 years. It worked for them, why not for us? Your suggestion of taking ownership only works to the davantage of the Liberals. Why would the Conservatives help the Liberals?
  11. That's the key with ads to promote entertainment. They are meant to present the meaning and spirit of the entertainment product in 30 seconds. No it isn't one sample. Just the most offensive one.
  12. Ahh, but we have seen the ads. To quote one of my earlier posts. Come on. That's sexist and offensive. Of course the white hick said it. Just confirms the stereotypes have that all prairie fold are dumb and uneducated. Look at Corner Gas. It pokes fun without lowering itself to the most basic stereotypes.
  13. There is no need for personal insults and attacks. So it couldn't be a simple mistake or difference of opinion. It had to be nefarious. No proof for that. All you can provide is that they *cooked* and *uncooked* the books. How are you sure of what they handed over?
  14. There is the rub. If it is an attack on a "minority" religion people do get up in arms. But because it is mocking hick, white christian people from the prairies it is ok to put down and belittle. The CBC should follow the PBS model. Pledge drives then the likes of Saturn can put their money where their mouth is. If you don't want to watch the *bullshit* put out by the commercial networks you can pay for an alternative. Just don't make me pay for that alternative!
  15. Yeah, whatever .... What you showed is the original filing didn't report the funds correctly. The party wasn't audited by Elections Canada. Elections Canada didn't hire a magician? Was that last line an attempt to raise the level of the debate here on MLW?
  16. Again, a big chunk of that was misreported as Electoral District Association funds as opposed to Party Head Office funds. Do explain how that is trying to *hide* anything? These funds wouldn't have been *found* so quickly if they hadn't been reported at all...
  17. And the CBC ran with it and produced the show to harp on the stereotype of Western Canadians being uneducated hicks. So the death sentence that was pronounced against Salman Rushdie has become a stereotype? The man has spent 17 years under a death sentence ... and this is now a stereotype? What are the other halalarious themes they explore? Why am I not surprised that you would think a show that confirms all the CBCs left-leaning, bias against white, Christian Canadians from the Prairies funny?
  18. You should create a Web site. But that would require providing evidence and support. Instead you spread your false *memories* on a message board. Much easier for you to say someone should ....
  19. There is the rub. Crap like this would *never* be aired by a private television company. Private broadcasters are worried about making money, not alienating western viewers. But the CBC is all about pushing their agenda...
  20. Of course. All Westerners are hicks. And ungrateful whiners for resenting the fact that our tax dollars go to paying for this program that confirms this universal truth in the eyes of *real Canadians* i.e. 'civilized' silver spoon socialists in Toronto.
  21. The European war argument was the one used be isolationists right up to Pearl Harbor. In hindisght it is pretty damned easy to say that the German alliance with Japan was a mistake. They lost. Of course Canada go into the war too early. That's an easy way for the Americans to feel that justified about their two years of dithering.
  22. He's anti-Canadian because he doesn't buy into your view of what a real Canadian should be? Any comment on the thread or are you just here to stalk MD00?
  23. If your decision processes involved voting for corrupt, incompetent lying thieves who put their own interests ahead of the country's welfare then I would indeed. LMAO Power to you Fortunata. I have skipped a number of municipal elections. Can't really be arsed to put in the time and effort to research the candidates, attend fora yada yada.
  24. Good post. The key is only part of the convention fees are tax deductible. IIRC the fees for the just past Liberal leadership convention were higher than the donation limit for a year.
  25. Ignorant attacks on a given racial/cultural group are funny to you? As much as it will kill me I will probably watch one episode. But if the ads are any sort of indication I'm sure it will be truly offensive.
