Harper rejects key Gomery proposals
Ricki Bobbi replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Typical laziness of the left. Take the CBC as gospel and use it as a launch pad for an attack on Harper. Appears that he looked at each of Justice Gomery's suggestions and provided a well-considered reason for not following the one's he agreed with. Doesn't have anything to do with partisanship, but thanks for trying... -
The Conservative Party of Canada is *far right wing*? Only in the wet dreams of Liberals and Dippers. The more you try and sell that falsehood the more centrist Canadians see through you and vote Conservative. Remember *scary* *scary* *scary* didn't work in January. Maybe time to try a new tune?

Next Federal election predictions. When and why?

My exact quote was: You confused both *polls* for two elections? -
I never asked why she applied for social assistance. In response to this: To repeat my question : where did you come across this insight into her motivations? How do you know the family's savings were depleted? Do you know if they had any savings to begin with? Seems to me you simply assumed the goodness and honesty in the hearts of these people as a way of trying to demonize hard-hearted conservatives like MD00. But you still have no proof!!!

Stéphane Dion = Jean Chrétien?
Ricki Bobbi replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Hmmm since *scary* *scary* *scary* didn't work in January Dion thinks his best option is to go to the last Lbieral victory that didn't use that winning formula? Hmmmm..... A campaign on creating green jobs? OK Stephane. If you can actually write a credible plan for that AND understandable messaging power to you. Seems like he has already given up on Alberta. Looking at the NCC's Web site they seem pretty open to me. Ohh, they didn't feel they should have to disclose people who donate to them, is that why you call them secretive? -
Next Federal election predictions. When and why?

Angus Reid pegged Conservative support at 18%, Gallup at 16%. The Conservatives ended up with 16%. Given that the support was not concentrated in anyone region in the country, a single-digit number of seats was a predictable outcome. Mulroney predicting the PCs to lose 141 seats when they lost 149 seems more prescient than ludicrous. What elections am I mixing up? -
Best quote from that article. Does anybody know what re-balance the mission means? If the Bloc and Liberals stick with that line they are in trouble. Afghanistan won't be an issue if the only realistic alternative to forming government can't come out with a clear policy on Afghanistan. Look at where Harper won his seats in Quebec. All are in those parts of the province that aren't strongly opposed to the mission...

Next Federal election predictions. When and why?

This wheat board issue is an interesting one. Farmer's are pretty evenly divided. With the Liberals and Dippers fighting over themselves to support the CWB that leaves a lot of prairie farmers with Harper as their only option. -
It seems more plausible to you so it shouldn't be held up to the same level of proof that MD00s is? She tried to discredit MD00 by asking for proof if Arar's wife had ever been on social assistance. I provided the evidence. First she ignored it. Then she tried to change the subject. It only took my pushing her to admit the mistake. She went too far in presuming to know Arar's wife's motivation. I still think I asked a fair question. If she has some knowledge that's great. If Melanie is just pulling her *belief* in the motivations out of thin air that is pretty weak...
-
Of course proof is needed. Melanie asked md00 for that, while making a judgment on Arar's wife's motivation. How does she know that? If you want to question md00's theory why not question Melanie's? They are both just providing their feelings of the motivation in this case. If you are going to take md00 to task why is my taking Melanie to task an attack? To be 100% clear I was referring to NDP supporters. No racial slur intended.

Where did you come by this insight into her motivations?

What country will you work in? Most designations are professional by definition. I know he said he is an accountant. So if he's working on his CA he can work anywhere in the Commonwealth very easily and the US isn't all that tough once he's done. But the UFE is a real b*tch... -

Would you advocate a return to deficit budgeting? Or do you have a plan for the program cuts necessary to avoid that had Income Trusts not been touched? -

Are you honestly thinking of leaving the country because of the income trust decision? -
But you have seen evidence about your *drive by smear* comment? Smooth attempt at changing the subject.

The predictions were out there. The last Angus Reid and Gallup polls, published three days before the election both came within two points of all the opposition parties results and three of the Liberals. -

Hope your right about the first part. Lot's of people saw it coming. Mulroney was quoted as saying he believed the PCs would be lucky to hold onto party status in the House, i.e. 12 seats. Does that make him a smart one? -

How would you replace the lost revenues from IT? Wait until the budget. The fifth, and final, priority will be addressed. -
Pure as the Driven Snow... Yellow Snow that is.
Ricki Bobbi replied to hiti's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Not implying that at all. What I am saying is the Conservatives are committed to making qualified appointments. Just as the Liberals did on occasion. Let's look at a few of the appointments mentioned in the article. Harvie Andre - Former cabinet minister with vast experience in academia and business. More than qualfied to be a land claims negotiator. Jim Gouk - Former official critic of the Minister of Transportation representing the Official Opposition. Good experience for serving on NAV Canada. Kerry-Lynne Findlay - Named to the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal. Appointments historically given to distinguished lawyers. Past President of the Canadian Bar Association (BC Branch), Chair of the National Woman Layers Forum, Chair of the Vancouver City Planning Commission. Sounds qualified to me.... Any other questions about the qualifications of these appointees? -

You said about Prime Minister Harper and Minister Flaherty. You exposed them by quoting an article on an industry Web site aimed at fighting the Government. You already posted the example. Look at the ifnormation about the membership of Canadian Energy Trusts... -

Budgets are always open to debate and spend their time in committee as well. There is no choice to exclude debate or propagandize with "no opening for debate." Read what you are replying to. Opening for DEFEAT! DEFEAT! -

IMAGINE THAT, A LOBBYING GROUP MADE UP OF ENERGY INCOME TRUSTS COMES OUT AGAINST THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT? USING BIG BOLD LETTERS DOESN'T MAKE YOUR POST ANY LESS MISLEADING!
