  1. They certainly didn't say: "Our mistake. We are correcting it right away". Instead, they tried to change the law retroactively. That is the worst part. It goes to show they knew they were wrong all along.
  2. Do you speak English? Another personal attack on someones writing. Did your parents not hug you enough as a child?
  3. This is just it. There really is no difference between the two parties, except one of them just ran on an election platform of accoutnability and ethics. I find it ironic you can't even spell accountability. Certainly you can't recognize it or understand it. There is no suggestion that this misinterpretation of the rules cost Canadian taxpayers any money - on the contrary, it saved them money. And no real suggestion the Tories even profited over it, as the donations would have been theirs regardless. I find it sad, and a good indicator of a lacking personality, that someone has nothing better to do than harp on someones typo. What, you have nothing better to add to the debate so you attack personally. How conservative of you. If all you have is to attack is my typo's go ahead, it is a pathetic endeavour, and reflects poorly on you in my books. I think you are the one who is having problems recognizing the fact the CPC is just as bad as the Liberals ever were. I guess it is your man crush on Harper that blinds you. It cost tax payers that went to the convention money. They couldn't claim political donations on their income tax without receipts. Sure, there's no profit when they hide 3.5 million dollars. Like holy crap man, open your freaking eyes! If it didn't serve their interests, or profit them in some way, why try to hide the money in the first place?
  4. By announcing it openly. Yes, definitely a good way to get "caught". They denied any wrong doing for almost a year. Just how the hell is that "announcing it openly"?
  5. This is just it. There really is no difference between the two parties, except one of them just ran on an election platform of accoutnability and ethics.
  6. So you are admittng that your *knowledge* about people who voted Conservative on the basis of corruption and their future voting intentions was pulled out of thin air? Why can't 3.5 million dollars be a mix up? Seemed like a fair question if your assetion was correct. What the hell is a strawman anyways? Why don't you just give it up already. The Conservatives tried to get away with hiding 3.5 million dollars and got caught. It might be considered a "mix up" if it were one thing that was done wrong,(like a misplaced decimal point) and it was wrong to the tune of 3.5 million. However the CPC used 4 different ways to disguise the money coming into the party. That is not a "mix up".
  7. A couple of reasons why people wear the Canadian Flag abroad: 1. In Europe after the World Wars, Canadians were treated with special respect and kindness in part due to the sacrifices they made to keep the continent free. Wearing the flag or Maple Leaf, could open doors for you. 2. When going to poor countries like Mexico, it was recommended that you wear the Canadian flag so you would be less likely to get robbed. When there was a large difference in exchange rates, thieves didn't want to waste their time robbing Canadians when American currency was worth alot more. With a closer exchange rate I'm sure thieves aren't so picky.
  8. Um Try Tax cases can take years to settle. Every Tax issue I've ever had was settled within 8 months. Why thank you. Since english was always my worst subject I didn't realise it shone through. Still doesn't make me right. Just like the Conservatives aren't right. They got caught trying to cheat, plain and simple. And I suppose you deal with them on a daily basis. The matter was dealt with because they knew they were caught, and now was a much preferable time to admit it, as opposed to when parliament is back in session and most of the political pundits are not on holidays with their families. You can't guarantee squat! You are just pulling numbers out of your ass. Sad but not unexpected. If you can't see the similarities between this and Adscam, you are blind. Average Canadians know a cheat and a liar when they see one. Average Canadians will be shown that this current Govt., the one who ran on accountablitity, is just as corrupt and scheming as the Liberals ever were. No it is about a political party hiding millions in funding, then running a campaign on how corrupt their opponents are. So it only took the Conservatives less than 12 months to get backed into a corner where they had no option but to admit they were wrong. I guess that makes the Liberals the smarter of the two. Well the Conservatives now have no legs at all to stand on when accountability and coruption comes up. Seeing as how that is what sunk the Liberals last time I think it will make excellent fodder to feed the average Canadian.
  9. No just a political party doing what would be the equvalent of tax evasion if a private citizen were to try the same. No I'm a few points shy of mensa, but I am impressed you even know of them. Do you want a hero cookie? No not fraudulent, just a different interpretation of the laws regarding donations. I'll try that if I'm ever audited for hiding millions in income. So fighting over 2005 income until days before 2007 is not stonewalling? How much did the fight with elections canada cost taxpayers? This thing goes both ways. For you to sit there and say the Liberals did this and that, and here's why when the conservatives pull the same BS it's different, is a freaking joke. Well when the CPC ran on the corruption of the Liberals and how they were different, I think this will make an excellent issue in the next election. It goes to show the CPC is just as corrupt and immoral as the Libs are/were.
  10. Partisan? Hmmm... Compare the *wrongdoing*. Harper donated $456 over the legal limit to the party. The Liberals stole $1.14 million of taxpayer money that ended up in the hands of party operatives. Again fight the next election based on ethics and see how well you do! You are terribly misinformed, or simply ingoring the facts. Neither would be surprising. It's not $456 in excess donations. It is over $3.6 Million in undisclosed conservative party funds. 3 times the amount you keep harp(er)ing on about the Liberals stealing.
  11. CO2 is one of the "green house" gases. It causes the atmosphere to retain more heat. The warmer the planet gets the more polar and glacial ice is melted. This newly freed water once it makes its way to the ocean causes the sea level to rise. There's your connection. However that's simply not true. http://www.worldclimatereport.com/index.ph...scare/#more-200 Figure 1 below shows that sea level has undoubtedly been rising for 6,000 years, and the rates seem rather monotonic. Quotes from throughout the Larsen and Clark paper are priceless. They state “the earlier part of the Dennis Creek reconstruction shows general agreement with the long-term rate of RSL rise at 2.0 mm/y until about AD 1750. The RSL trend then rapidly rises until the early 20th century, when it slows and tends to parallel the historic tide gauge record of 2.6 mm/y.” The Dennis Creek reconstruction had accelerated sea-level rise alright, but it occurred from AD 1750 to the early 1900s! If it is not true then where does all the melting ice go? It has to go somewhere. The melt that goes into the oceans has to raise the sea level. Simple logic. To argue that adding water to the oceans doesn't raise their level is .... well.... illogical. Ofcourse to take arguments like yours at face value one would have to make the erroneous assumption that mankind is the only thing influencing global warming. A large enough volcanic explosion can pump enough ash into the atmosphere to filter the sun and actually lower global temps.
  12. Seriously, wake up! Did you even read the first post or just come blindly rushing to little Stevie's defense? $ 539,915 - Unreported Donations. $ 913,710 - Other Revenue. $1,450,000 - Other expenses. $ 700,000 - Undisclosed Transfers. $3,603,625 So let's try your statement again. $1.14M vs. $3.6M Still want to bring it to the table?
  13. CO2 is one of the "green house" gases. It causes the atmosphere to retain more heat. The warmer the planet gets the more polar and glacial ice is melted. This newly freed water once it makes its way to the ocean causes the sea level to rise. There's your connection.
  14. A lot of people here have exhaustedly discussed Arar's case and learned many things about him that don't make him look like a choir boy. Yes some will hold Arar up on a pedestal and make him a hero that should come before or troops. What do I say? Detain his wife, children, and all family members, and immediately deport him back home. Then ban him from stepping on Canadian soil. So...do we break out the bed sheets before or after he is on the plane?
  15. True... but they do seem to be two of the qualifications needed to be in politics. Perhaps he has a future after all.
  16. How quickly the conservative claws come out at even the slightest insinuatoin Harper is a slimey, power hungry, two faced POS who is atleast just as bad as JC was.
  17. That's not true. Not only that, they are increasing settlment funding some $300M I believe. So did they buy your vote with that one MD?
  18. That's flatly wrong. This link shows how the Conservatives are increasing immigration numbers in BC. This link shows how the Conservatives are increasing immigration numbers to Francohphone communities. This link shows how the Conservatives are increasing immigration numbers to help deal with labour shortages in Western Canada. Please try and have some truth in your attacks... So let's get this straight. You say it's all the Liberals fault there are so many immigrants, I come back with "Conservatives are keeping it the same." Your (cough) rebuttal is that they're actually increasing it and you think this is somehow advantageous to your initial argument of blaming Liberals for all the "immigration problems." That, and the fact that anything I say on these boards seems to be an "attack" for you (guess you should maybe understand the function of the message board), have granted you the first official ignore status on my list. Your "logic" and mine are about 180 degrees apart. Unlike some of your fellow conservatives, I find discussing issues with you equivalent to banging my head against the wall (yes, THAT could be taken as an attack). Best of luck to you in life. haha I've been tempted to put him on ignore from just reading the dialogue between you two. It's like having one of those little Jack Russell Terriers grab the back of your pant leg and not let go. Every so often it gives it's head a shake like it's trying to prove something, or maybe just to feel tough. It's not really doing anything of consequence other than being annoying. You just keep dragging it around the yard hoping it will eventually tire out.
  19. The charities I donate to: Police Retirees of Ontario (I buy 2 tickets to send two children to see the circus every year.) Canadian Cancer Society Salvation Army Alzheimers (clothing drive) But my biggest donations are to my local food bank.
  20. Get used to it. After my first few experiences on these boards I couldn't get over the arrogance and just plain hatred spewed by some here. What I experienced here was far more effective than any Liberal "scary Harper" advertizing campaign. Welcome aboard BC_chick.
  21. Maybe now would be a good time to stop showing your racism. IT is the Govt. who is racist and has racist polilices when they conintuously treat people of one race with a different set of rules from everyone else.
  22. I would just love to see your source for that. http://www.globesports.com/servlet/story/R...ory/GlobeSports That is a far cry from "assurances from local govt. that he would be allowed to install slot machines" The fact is he would have nothing to do with the slot machines. The company interested in the slot machines says it will build a new arena in Pittsburg if awarded the slot machine contract. The slots have nothing to do with Balsillie or the Penguins directly. Even after a new arena was built, terms of a lease would still have to be negotiated. Apparently the opening paragraph has a different idea aswell. The article goes even further from your statement with the folowing. I don't see anything of Balsillie backing out based on gettting any slot machines.
  23. I would just love to see your source for that.
  24. Funny I was always taught it was France and Britain.
  25. Personally I like the idea of a governing party that is interested in sustainable development. I have never heard a politician even approach the subject before. Unless he does something to change my mind before the election, Dion's interest in the environment would be the exact reason why I would vote for him.
