  1. Catchme, would you have the world do nothing? Would you have the world sit back while Osama and his underlings plot more 9/11's? Train even more jihadists in weapons and armed combat? War is not pretty. Innocent people die. It happens. But alot more innocent people died and would have died because of Al Qaeda and their Taliban supporters had the world done nothing. This is a necessary fight. It is not over or close to being over. The woman in the article seems to feel fundamentalist islam is at the heart of the problem and I agree. Unfortunately until herself and her fellow muslim women stand up against fundamentalism in Islam nothing will change. Really what would you be saying if NATO had gone into Afghanistan and tried to install a Christian govt? First of all it would never have worked and would have started a civil war within days. Blaming NATO or the US because there is still an Islamic leadership of the country is foolish. Exactly who else would you have them install? Communists? Christians? Bhuddists? Athiests? It is up to the Afghani people to change the nature of their govt. now that they have the democratic means to do so. Perhaps this woman should run for office, instead of coming to the west and blaming us for all the terrible things we haven't been able to change fast enough for her.
  2. True enough, but at that time there was the Reform party. Without any other right/center-right choice, doesn't Harper basically have a free reign to do what he wants without serious consequences?
  3. I doubt it, the West knows Harper is only trying to get a majority so he can do what they really want him to do. They'll be paitent. Besides who else would they vote for? Definatly not the Liberals, the NDP aren't getting many votes in Alberta and the Greens? They wouldn't want to waste their votes when things are so close. I have to ask. Are you suggesting a "hidden agenda"?
  4. I couldn't help but notice how reserved the Alberta Premier's response was. Good for him, wanting direct conformation from the PMO. My biggest question is, has Harper forsaken the West in order to appease Quebec? Which leads to the following question: Even if Harper does alienate the West, Alberta in particular, does it even matter?
  5. Other posters don't want to see us bickering. You won't respond to a fair request. So I have asked Greg to deal with it. In fairness to other posters here if you have any further comment about this feel free to PM me. Fine time to try and take the high road. So you threatening me is a "fair request" Get bent.
  6. My sig is classic. A classic example of improper behaviour and bullying? Please change it. It is ignorant. I see you've gone crying to Greg. Typical Bully. When he gets shown up the first thing he does is run and tell the teacher.
  7. Now that you mention it, I seem to remeber that guy too. What a joke.
  8. No no.. nuclear waste doens't work like that. But I do think that maybe sealing the waste in air tight containers and launcing them into space might be a good idea. We can let it float around and never worry about it again. All lefties appose this idea, but it's inevitable that eventually our waste will have to go up to space. There's always the arctic. We can dig underneith the ground the bury it there. Either way, we have to do something to create more fuel. Our electric cars that are coming soon wont get powered by air. I'm not talking about terrorists attacking the waste. They would be attacking the plants themselves. As far as the waste goes, you can't shoot it into space. What if it were to re-enter the atmosphere? I don't want a barrel of nuclear sludge landing in my backyard. You can say "Lefties oppose the idea" but anyone with common sense would oppose the idea. Like holy crap man it was just on the news the other day about a russian rocket booster re-entering the atmoshpere. It made for a great light show but the last thing we need is the same display but with a nuclear fallout. Your other plan to bury it in the arctic is equally absurd. Burying barrels of nuclear material is not the answer. Until there is a usable solution for nuclear waste, nuclear power is not the answer.
  9. The same brown haze that comes from out coal burning plants in Ontario? These issues are viable I agree and are due to missmanagement at a provincial level due to lack of clean, safe nuclear energy. It's your green movement that shut down these nuclear plants in Ontario. Now look at the mess we're in. You think filling pits with radioactive leftovers is a better solution? I don't think so. What about Chernobyl? I would much rather a coal plant explode than a nuclear plant. Like c'mon. In a day of suicide bombers the last thing we need is even more huge targets that if successfully attacked would make Osama and 9/11 look like a kid playing with firecrackers.
  10. Watched this last night. So I missed the "Little Mosque...." http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/taliban/ Don't ever get the idea that the Taliban and Al Qeada are beaten into submission. Don't ever think they aren't going to attempt another 9/11 if given the chance. Don't think this ends with Afghanistan. Few more sad facts: 1. The Taliban in Afgahnistan was setup and put in power by the Pakistani ISI (Inteligence). 2. Many of these ISI are still loyal to the Taliban. 3. The Pakistani Govt. is afraid to act in force due to the loyalty of some ISI and Military members to the Taliban. 4. Pakistani Religious Parties raise money, clothing and blankets for the Taliban to fight in Afghanistan. 5. 50,000 british troops in the 1930's could not secure the Tribal areas of Pakistan. 6. Truckloads of Jihadists regularly move across the Tribal Lands Pakistani/Afghan border to participate in fighting. 7. The Pakistani govt made a deal with the Taliban, where they actually gave them money so the Taliban could repay some of its dept to Al Qeada. So many more but I have to stop.
  11. Man now even I'm starting to think you are a CBC plant who is promoting the show.
  12. There are so many aspects to the environment that we should be looking at, not just GHG. There is still a brown haze over Toronto. The water in Lake Simcoe regulary has ecoli, causing beaches to be closed. Our wetlands need to be protected and expanded. There is still toxic chemicals seeping into the groundwater. There is the loss of natural habitiat for many forms of wildlife. The list goes on. It is too bad that people get hung up on one topic, and then decide from there if the environement is a worthy cause or not. So you don't believe in Global Warming? Do you want your grandchildren to have clean drinking water? How about some clean air? To simply dismiss the environment as an issue would be erroneous.
  13. Hey angry, a little support for your diatribes please? "angry"??? I do believe she has a name.
  14. Oh great, you again. Do you enjoy insulting people? Sometimes. But there is no insult there. If you look, he IS metaphorically lost. I had already told him he had it backwards, yet he persisted. If you think you are going somewhere but have been going backwards the whole time, getting lost is one of those things that happens. The funny thing is, he seems to think accusing someone of "stalking" is a very serious issue. What do you think about that Ricki? I never said the reason I was here was to stand up to bullies. That is simply not true. However I can understand you being sore at being called out on your aggressive tactics, or bullying. I think you are now just trying to pick out every fault in me, real or imagined, because I called you on what you are. Even if you find a million faults with me, you will still be the same. No, getting 50 PM's from the same guy makes me feel like a big man. My sig is classic. Maybe now you can answer my question. It was only asked like 3 days ago. You said: And I asked: For Reference: jdobbins post:
  15. So giving one race special treatment over others is not racism? I would beg to differ. They are Canadian citizens, and as such they should be paying taxes like the rest of us. Not having to because of their race is retarded. Uh I have to pay for my fishing rights. Natives don't. That would seem to me they have rights I don't. If they have rights that I don't, those would be extra rights. If the natives used my arguement they would be advocating equality and not "more or extra rights". They would in fact be arguing infavour of themselves paying taxes and having to pay for hunting and fishing rights. So are are going to sit there and argue that because the natives aren't killing enough innocent people we shouldn't consider their actions terrorist-like? Being extorted by a group of individuals who think they are owed something because they are of a certain race I find disgusting. That is about the strangest thing I have ever heard.
  16. Holy crap this kind of garbage is getting pathetic. As long as the Yoga instructor isn't telling the kids to "feel Gods energy" or some other directly religous hogwash there is nothing wrong with having kids do some yoga. I would suggest all the little buggers with ADHD get a double or triple dose.
  17. Uh yes I have hung out with immigrants and second generation Canadians. I must have heard the term "Mange Cake" or "Cake eater" atleast 3 times every day when I was hanging out with a mix of Greek, Italian and Cypriots about ten years ago. They even nicknamed the only black guy that hung around us "spook". I have also heard all kinds of racists comments from my time spent with Blacks & Natives. I have said many times on this forum that racism is not exclusive to whites. Regardless of what they say and do, it still doesn't mean I have to be as ignorant as them. Nor does it exscuse your disgusting tirades on minorities, just because you have heard their racist crap.
  18. I just love the paranoia. Ofcourse it would never be intended for some people who have a sense of humour. The whole country is Anti-Alberta.....apparently. , Demonizes the oilpatch? Where? Only in the authors mind I think. Oil Companies? Where did the sticker say anything about oil companies? . Could it be the sticker is referring to a gas guzzling vehicle? Ah the twin centers of all that is evil. That's right, off to brainwashing camp for you all. Hahaha, that is hilarious. And they're all out to get you too. LMAO Somebody get this guy some prozac. The poor defenseless Oilpatch and SUV's. What ever will they do now that they have been violated? NO, I would say that as long as the CBC can fuel this kind of hilarious article every once in a while it still has a use. So you missed the oil boat. That's why you're so pissed at the sticker. C'mon be honest. But not quite as outrageous as this article.
  19. I'm sure you have some form of derogatory name for every ethnic group.
  20. What is with your obsession with "getting it"? I found it funny that, is enough. Why I found it funny, may not be the same reason Blubbermiley found it funny. Perhaps you just need a broader sense of humour. Your sounding like a character out of Corner Gas. Ironically so are you.

  22. That's pretty good. Explain the humour to me, I don't get it. Explaining jokes ruins them. If you don't "get it" then you don't "get it".
  23. You've got it backwards jbg. I still want to know how he drew his conclusion from jdobbin's post. Excuse me, sir. You accused someone of a crime. That's a strong reaction for what you consider to be a badly drawn conclusion about someone else's post. You are so lost a map and a GPS couldn't even help you now.
