Not much, the Trust index quickly rebound afterwards. Maybe a hundred million or so, not likely in the billions? Longterm the costs are huge. Why invest in Canada, governments don't do anything they promise, who knows what will happen tomorrow. Unpredictability is the last thing you ever want as a descriptor of your countries investment rules. This is true. So this is going to have a ripple effect that could cost the country untold amounts of money. Even the "hundred million or so" geoffrey mentioned above is more than enough for me. But if it has long term effects into future investment, who knows what the final numbers could be.

Any ballpark figure on what this has cost Canada in terms of investment dollars?

How would replacing him and reversing the income trust get people back the money they have already lost?

LOL Atleast he wasn't really lying when he said they wouldn't allow the other parties to get away with taxing income trusts and raiding seniors savings. He never said the CPC woudn't do it the first chance they got.

As long as they aren't too rediculous or over the top, I'm sure they help a bit. But there is always the chance of a backlash like the "soldiers in the streets" had.

These ads are not as bad as what the Liberals put out during the last election. But the fact the CPC is resorting to "Liberal" tactics after constantly bashing the Liberals for doing it, is funny to me. First let me edit your spelling mistake. I love the irony. OK now we can continue. No it is not partisan at all. Belinda had not just run for election as a Conservative in the preceding days. Unlike Emerson who had told the citizens of Vancouver he would be representing them as a Liberal if they elected him, and then within days of being put into office he switched to being a Conservative. Ofcourse, it is me trying to antagonise you. Do you actually read what you write? I saw part of that. It is a shame that these Americans have been forsaken in favour of the more visible war in Iraq. As the one Officer put it: "It is the forgotten war."

But she did switch parties in the teeth of a confidence vote that the LPOC was going to lose. That's a lot more damning than switching right after an election, particularly an election where the switcher suggested that the party "pull the goalie". I find running a campaign for one party, and thereby deceiving the public, to only switch to another party days after being elected is worse than refusing to toe the party line and leaving, regarless of what vote may have been coming up.

It's only the leftie partisans accusing the Conservatives of setting the bar *so* high. The leftie partisans are the only ones *calling* them on it. There is lots of evidence of liberal bias in the media. The Conservatives got so much support because the Liberals were so rotten, corrupt and full of entitlement that they just had to go. Really?!? I don't see what the big deal is. If the CPC is willing to pay for any footage they used, they should be allowed to use it. As to how they got it, I would be surprised if they didn't record the entire convention. Perhaps an ethics investigation should be started?
