I come from a science background where precision and accuracy are two seperate things. This to me really does not translte well into this definitions. The very fact that the Liberals would stop the government to even ask for this apology and then state they will continue, with this non issue is just showing that they are really not aparty anyone should vote for. Even if he called her using words instead of implied words, it would stlill be a non event. Maybe you just have not seen the implied apology for his implied offence. The house has already ruled it did not offend the house and it has been already said that no apology will be forth coming. The liberals once again ignore the house rulings as they think they are above that. That is why they are in the position they are in now. The more they push this the more they will lose. But it is just so like the Liberals to eb singing while the ship they are in is sinking fast. Also I do not think that MacKay is worried that this will be on his record, and of course in time it will be nothing but a blip.

I can think of many things I that I would say about Belinda, and dog is not what I would have thought to be all that hurtful. Since Belinda seems to not be without male companionship for any long period of time, and she does seem to have a penchent for male celebrity, I would think that dog has crossed the minds of many when they have thought about her. If she had called MacKay a dog, would we all be wasting so much time asking her for an apology? Mackay inferred the actual issue and so we do not even have the event having legs. Maybe sign language is the norm in the house. Either way, it is only the opposition that is wasting time in the house howling about this and this at a time when their own leadership race, is likened to a trin wreck about to happen. Their party is fractured and split, and it seems like it is going to be divided into may parts, and they spend all this time about this. Boy we can really see where this is so much more important then getting the bills that actually mean something debated and passed. It also was said today that the Surete Quebec are now further investigating the Sponsorship Scandel even further as they have many leads that show some of the major players had escaped from this and "were now laughing up their sleeves", as they put it. So it does seem that we have not heard the last of this, and it looks like now the areas that Fraser could not address are now going to be addressed and charges laid. You would think that the Liberals would be better at chosing what to fight about when these things are looming. But I guess their bad choices do not stop at petty politics, now do they.

The realevence is that since any soldier can if he or she wishes, not to go to Aghanistan, they have the means to do so and if you look at what the families have said, the reasosn for their biefs are do to the fact taht they have loved ones that may soon be going. I would never think that any family would want their children to go to war, at any time. If they truly do not believe in the war, then do not go. it is that simple. But we already have heard from those over there that the vast majority of them are there because they want to be there. Some are even signing up for second tours of duty. So how is a story about a few people who are not of the same mind as the majority, a news item. Other then political fodder.

Personally I am more then tired of seeing Quebec dominate government. I would rather see them go and seperate and then Canada can and will become unligual english, and we will divide up Quebec to what it came to Canada with, and then grant the nortern cree their own province. What would be left of Quebec would be very much a hard place to live as no more cheap hydro and that would mine no more Alcan plants staying there. If they wanted any trade with the rest of Canada would be in English only labelling. I could go on and on. I never would have been on this other then Iggy bringing up the recognizing it as a country. I will admit that I am not myself right now and I am probably being harder on this issue then I would normally be. But I am also just soooo tired of all the quebec crap, that I would just like it to go away.

There are very few MP's that have a following where they really support the man over the party he represents. I do not see Grth Turner being one of them. If he goes green, he will definitely be out come next election.

The reason it is not news worthy is for one thing, it does not have a large following and for another there are already ways and means that any soldier can take so as not to be sent to Afghanistan. Such as the The conscienious objecter, ability. Yes they would then pretty much be looked down upon by there pears, but then again if you have issues of going to fight for Canada, then you shoudl not be in the army in the forst place. Since this would only be a small number and they can find their way to get out of serving, why should the rest which is the vast majority even care about them.

It was one family and the soldier from that family can always claims conscienious objections and he can and will be dimissed from having to go. Now why would this be a news worthy story? We had 1000's of these same types during the second world war. Many of them from the french public of Quebec, but even with that many more french did enlist and fight for Canada. This is just so much a non event.

This was the Liberals great hope. It would seem that Iggy would pander to the Quebec separtists to gain favour in that province. If that is his plan then I can say that the Liberals are in big trouble, but they are in big trouble anyways.

Even though I believe that the Liberals will implode over their leadership race and I see that the party does not even have a chance of uniting under any of the leadership hopefuls, I am just not ready to to say that they will be so far gone that NDP will over take them. If the party split and because of divisions became two parties, yes there would be a chance, but not the way it is now. Layton to me is nothing but an attention seeker. He is always willing to pose for the photo-op, but what he feels is his best tool, really makes my skin crawl. To me he comes off as a used car saleman. His ideas are so way out there, that even he must know that they will never fly. But when you are an NDP supporter I guess you grow a very thick skin.

If she is that fragile then I am sure the voters in her riding would not want here then to represent them as she should not be made to do demading tasks if this kind of thing can hurt her so deeply. If any of the men in the House were called a dog, do you think it would draw this much attention. Equall opps for both sexes.

I said she plays hurt, not that she says or is hurt. Also she is a divorced woman, and believe me even if you are rich divorce is where you get thick skin very quickly. She has stood for party leadership before and again there she must have heard much worse. What she is playing at now, is politics and the hurt of an ex-lover pulls at the heart strings, until you realize she dropped MacKay the very evening before her defection and all the deals etc. Yes she is so fragile now isn't she?

Betsy you are probably right that Belinda is only pulling this hurt and injured act at the behest of her Liberal masters. If she was really so put out by something like this, which really was nothing I would say outrageous, then she never would have made it even in her fathers company. Her lifestyle is definitely moving fast in many directions and the many partners, Which I will say that she is allowed to have as many as she likes. But with all this worldly experience and she is hurt by this implied remark of being a dog. I am just wondering where she gets off playing hurt female, and then says she is a strong and modern woman. Gerry you need to get a grip and quit being so petty in these things. Many people have given you very good arguments to what you say, and I am trying to stay out of it, as I promised to not attack you for a month just to show the people it was not just me that makes you go off in rages. The idea of debate is to argue the poin ts that the other side made not just shout and screeam thay are thoughtless or idiots. I know some where in you is the ability to debate issues, without the bad behaviour. You just need to find it and maybe then people will take you more seriously. As I said earlier, what makes you sure that if the women who leave the CPC camp, are ever going to go to the Liberal camp. Is there any proof? To me if women left the CPC it probably would be to go to the green party, more then any other. The reason would be that for them to be unsatisfied with the CPC, they would proably be over issues that the green party is now pushing and making them better known. Just what about the Liberals would any of these women find attractive? Right now it looks more like the liberals are more concerned about painting their own as tainted and not worthy, of the leadership race. Along with all this are scandels every week about something or other. Do you really think women would find that attractive. Also even after a leader is picked, it will take a very long time to unite the party as right now it is fractured so badly, that I have to wonder if it can ever be put together ever again. NRC is one of the great teachers for the universities and they do not go looking for ways to prove an answer. You are very insulting in all of this I at least have my Biochemistry dregree behind what I say and have worked with PHD scientists for many years. Just what qualifications do you have to be so condensending to any scientist no matter who they are or how they are paid.

I will be in Ottawa later this week and I still have my privilages at the National Reaserch Labs Library. I will go dig up lots of the things that the real scientists have said but never got put into papers because it did not agree with the government position. It will be mostly from the Liberals times and their failure with Kyoto etc. I had already read many ofd these and believe when I say that a very large number of government scientists have gone on record that Global warming is not a looming danger and they call in question just what man can do about it and what affect it really has. Yes you will not see these 1000 of hours of real lab work and their reports on them, because it was not what the main stream wanted to be said. You will see now more then ever that under CPC these scientists feel more free to say what they think and are just now becoming more open about this.

First of all it is always the Liberals who hide the surplus or spend it unwisely, we have seen all that for the 13 years they were in power. CPC used the surplus to pay down the debt. You call that being bad? Yes the Liberals have governing experience, and it is exactly that experience that gave us the Sponsorship scandel. HRC billion dollar boon dogoole, and the list goes on and on. You just do not get it. We the Canadian people do nto want any of that type of experience in our government period. That is why it does not matter to me who the liberal leader is, I really do not think that any of them will ever win an election. Also since it was mentioned about young voters not remembering Rae Days, I must point out that the young voters are not a very large numbers, the vast majority of voters are old enough to remember Rae and how he tried to kill Ont. But even if we have to show them the proof once again, I am sure if they investigate Rae he will be dead in the water with the young as well. Toronto especially was hard hit by Rae and the people and the public workers will never give him a second chance, no matter what dsiguise he runs under. Hell I am surprised no one assasinanted him.

On this point I can agree with you completely. Even though the USA last month turned 12,000 troops that were under their own command in Afghanistan, over to NATO command, it still was not a net increase, but it does give now less chance of two different operation shooting at each other. I would like to see the USA pull troops from Iraq and use them in Afghanistan to finish things they in the first place, but for now I do not see that happening

Belinda, I will just say that had the Taliban not been overthrown and we just allowed BinLadin to continue his bases and support there, we would have a whole different situation. It is a fact that Bin Ladin was seeking nuclear materials, it has been proven. Also contrary to what the USA and other like to say, once you have the materials just about any chemist or physists can make a very damaging bomb. That to me is more dangerous to us here in Canda then this Nato action is. We are still not out of the woods yet either as the Taliban and its insurgency is being given safe harbour in the North od Pakistan. Being that Pakistan is a nucear power and already has materials that could easily one day become part of an arsenal of an extreme Muslim lead government, does that make you sleep any better. Yes we are making a message to the Taliban and all extremist muslims every where, they need to know that when they threaten us we will react. To many of the extremist Muslims if they had the bomb we probably would all be dead now, as they have said that they would use it to cleanse the world of infedels. That is you and I. This time is very much like the events that allowed Hitler to build up a huge German army and divert the countries manufacturing to war time status. The waited and we saw what happened. We all had to fight for our very way of life. Take a look at what the Taliban stands for and the fact that they call for the deaths of all who do not convert to Islam. This is not the same way we have religion here. For them it is a way of life. They believe to lose their life in the casue of Islam is something to be strived for. I am against what the USA did in Iraq and I am not fond of their approach to many things, but right now here in Canada we have a good life. We are free and we can do pretty much what we want. If we let things grow over in these lands that we now try and free, then will will not have our life here the way it is now for very long. Probably within my life time it would happen.

I already posted in a thread earlier where the world's oceans have cooled off quite a bit from 2003 to 2005, and none of the present doom and gloomer could explain that. Not even Suzuki and he wanted to just leave that data out because it did not correalate with the models etc. Shame shame David. I am a biochemist, and I just do not take things that others say. I will say that yes there is global warming, and to a small degree man is adding to that. Most people will agree that mans contribution is very low single digit percentage of the effects. Mans pollution is far worse and by far more important to our health then the greenhouse gases are. Pollution is inthe here and now, and that is where we should spend our time and money. The greenhouse gases are so far off to being critical that is why they use 100 year models. This is not hocus pocus or voodoo science. This is just plain ordinary fact. Anyone that tells you otherwise is lying. The last time when we had the big black out and they were very few people with power and things were all shut down for a few days, the air quality in southern Ontario was not really changed by much. Now that should tell you some things. Or look at the data when the great ice storm hit and it was almost a week without power etc. The air quality got worse due to people using woodstoves and fireplaces and generators. So how do all these environmantalists explain all this. Their answer, we should have cut back even more and done without less energy etc etc etc. That just make their group sound even more physcho then they are already.

Well if the CPC did win either of these seats, it would not bode well for the fortunes of the incumbent parties now would it.

Belinda, did you ever study the WWII or WWI and if not, then may I suggest you do, there are many reasons why saying it is not our fight has had. There have been millions of deaths of innocent civillians because lack of action. Before you go saying things about we should not be there and the rest, you really need to research about what you say. I posted a link for you all ready, as you seemed unable to do so yourself. But I like debates and I sometimes even enjoy the view of the man /woman on the street. But in something where lives of our and other countries soldiers are being put on the line, each and every day, I just ask that you look up why we are there. not just why the USA attacked and then had NATO take over, but why NATO who is a multi-nation organization, decided to be there. Just whaat the goals are and how they are being met. We have already out done what the Russians tried simply because we do not go there to be conquorers. The Taliban if it had been left alone would have by now allowed Bin Ladin access to atomic weapons. Just tink about that for a minute, and then tell me that we should have left them alone? While yes I will admit that we are not going to make them a fully democratially ruled government, I will be satisfied if they elect a compromise of general goverment represetation and religious representation as well. There has been huge construction projects ongoing in Aghanistan and they are just now gettign the taste of what can be accomplished there. We need to get the job done and that takes time and yes lives of some very brave men and women. Just remember, we fight over they, so you can still have your freedom here at home.
