Keep in mind this forum is for entertainment purposes. This isn't the US. Canadians don't actually have a say in how or tax dollars are spent or what the gov't does. Essentially, nothing gets accomplished on this board so it should be viewed as entertainment. We just happen to find entertainment in forum discussion like million of others. I find the Liberal posters to be the least fun of the bunch because they are extremely narrow minded. right wing posters are more open to learning and finding solutions to problems. Liberals just deny there are problems unless their party leader tells them so. That kind of takes the fun out of things. Right wing posters actually have the most idealism of fixing problems and discussion. I find the Liberals to be the only partisan people on this forum to be honest.

He has in many posts. I don't think i've seen the liberal supporters ever once critisize the liberal agenda once.

Why don't you just move there? Because they have what is known as an 'immigration system'. I'm not allowed to walse into that country and plop myself there and use services like hundreds of thousands from the third world do here in Canada each year. A company must bring me in on a work permit, I'm not allowed to use any services, and the work permit can only be renewed one time. That company also has to prove that they could not hire an American to do the work. After my work permit expires, I get sent back home unless I get a green card which is a very long, difficult process that most people are not able to achieve. The above is what is called an 'immigration policy' that keeps people like me out because I'm not 'needed' there. As far as working there goes, I don't meet the US govt's credentials for entering the US - even if a company did want to sponsor me because I need to have verifiable experience of x amount of years in the exact same required field. (the exception is a 'level 1' desiriable like nurses etc that do not need to necessarily have verifiable experience - just the credentials). They do check these things and applications get rejected every day from people lying to try and get in. When you are rejected, you are never allowed to apply again. People think because they see hundreds of thousands of people walse in here by simply filling out an applicatoin ordered from the internet and wandering into Canada that other countries have the same program. THEY DO NOT. Canada has a unique, one of a kind program that is pretty much open to the world. Even if you have cancer or HIV. The only thing the immigrants need to do is vote Liberal and they can keep f*cking up our policial system and causing Candiands to lose voting power to people who are interested in nother more than sponsoring in their relatives. This is a UNIQUE thing to Canada.

Arar affair cost RCMP about $5-million
mikedavid00 replied to Leafless's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
NO! THere is NO proof he was tortured, no visible scars, red cross said he had no signs, and he didn't admit to it till the 7th visit. There is much more evidence that stacks against his case than for his case. Either way, he is working on becoming a million air off our tax dollars. -

mikedavid00 replied to Leafless's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Correction. We spent $5,000,000 on Arar and $100,000's more on providing him and his family social services and healthcare. It is so unfortunate that we are letting ourselves being taken advantage of from outsiders who couldn't give two damns about us. Have you heard Arar speak? After all this time he can barely speak English. GO HOME ARAR! GET OUT OF MY COUNTRY!! -
Well 30% off people here on a poll said they were a card carying member of a political party. I don't like the Liberals, Conservative, or NDP. I don't like any of them. I find the CPC the lesser of the evils. I have a fundemantal difference as to how the country is run poltiically so I guess I'll never support a party unless it strives to 'reform' the gov't and status quo. Ah yes.. that would be the 'reform' party.. the last party I supported. There's a good chunk of people that need to be told what to think and they will post along those lines. I find that the majority of these people are Liberal supporters. I don't think I've ever seen a CPC supporter not critisize their party.

SHUT UP, you annoying thing! Get the heck out Canada already to join your kind - Ted Kaczynski, Tim McVeigh and the KKK. The truth hurts! no!! head in sand time! hehehehe If I could leave Canada, I would. Trust me. Unfortuntely, no other country allows people to just walse in. Only Canada does that. Thus Canada is an open country to the world.

You're over complicating things with your idealisms which are proven not to work. Tax payers can handle the burder of a small portion of people who have not paid into the system that are using it. This would include the poor. Again, a small portion of society. Tax payers cannot handle a large portion of people who have not paid into it. The real question is, what is 'paying into it'? You need look no further than auto insurance. Here is a simple example: If the average person pays $50 per month on auto insurance between the ages of sixteen and sixty-five, they have paid $29,400 to insurance. Now that’s the bare minimum for insurance. Maybe that person gets into a fender-bender three times, and the damage equals to a total of $6,000. Where does the $23,400 go? It goes to the small portion of poeple who have had complete write offs or toalled their vehicles. Thus, everyone pays to cover the other person for the safety that you will get covered if something happens to you one day. However, the average person will never get their money back in payments through their lifetime. Healthcare insurance works the exact same way. OHIP = Ontario Health Insurance Plan Now with Canada healthcare, there is a massive, massive influx of poeple each year. More than anywhere else in the world per capita coming here with sickness, cancer, HIV, and elderly that need medical attention. These induviduals have NOT paid into the system so tax payers have to cover the burden of this. Over 20 years, there becomes a limit where we can no longer be taxed more or we'll begin to lose jobs, houses, cars, and other things that are the point of living in any country. Thus, we can no longer afford to keep the system running and have to ration out our healthcare to places that need it most (Ontraio). Rural hospitals cannot do procedures like take organs for transplants and other basic things that you might expect from any hospital. The welfare state in Canada ONLY works when people who are covered have paid into it. Yes there will be a SMALL portion that have not paid into it, but in Canada these small portions have, over time, become LARGE portions. This doesn't only apply for healthcare, it goes for any of Canada's services including childare, schooling, welfare, old age security etc. In the US, people only get let into the country if they are there to work. They are NOT allowed to use HMO health services, and are NOT allowed to have any access to social services except schooling for children. Almost every other country is like this EXCEPT CANADA. We are the exception. See, I have numbers to back up every statement made in this post, but I've done this before. I don't throw around idealisms like I know how to solve problems. People who are throwing around idealisms don't understand the problem to begin with. No offense to anyone. I can only spot where the problems are, and see who else is using a solution that is proven to work. No social program will work if people if there is a growing abundance of people using it that haven't paid into it. If you want to learn the truth, why not read this study from the Fraser Institute and then maybe you can learn the crux of Canada's problems: Immigration and the Welfare State in Canada: Growing Conflicts, Constructive Solutions http://www.fraserinstitute.ca/shared/readm...?snav=pb&id=797 "The low taxes paid by a large number of immigrants and the cost of the social benefits they consume represent a fiscal burden on Canadian taxpayers and lowers their living standards. As a result, there exists a conflict between liberal immigration policies and the viability of the welfare state." "Since January 2002 the health examination includes a test for AIDS. According to the federal immigration department, in 2003, 677 foreigners who qualified for visas tested positive for the disease. Of these, 87 percent were granted immigrant visas presumably on the judgment that they would not impose an unreasonable burden on the Canadian health care system. The information is from Friscolanti (2004)."

I love these posts. It's this tone of post love. It's like the 'there's no parts of Canada with 30% visible minorities. Then they realize later they are wrong because they never did the research. I guess poeple think the money for healthcare falls out of the sky. Guess what, tax payers pay for healthcare. Calculating how much you pay for healthcare each month. Take your housholds gross yearly income. Divide that by 2. Divide that number by 12. Mulltiply by 0.25 =Monthly healthcare costs You will see that this number can probably buy you a private plan in the US. If you are poor, it cannot. The difference is, in the US your employer most likely pays for your healtchare or a good majority of it. Thus, Americans have less taxes. If you can't afford it, then you pay $10 a month HMO which I still consider to be much better than Canada's healtchare system. Realize that if we had a private/public system and a functioning immigration policy, we would have taxes similar to the US. We are taxed so much because of our healthcare system. This is why Canadians pay more tax. Does the healthcare system work in Canada? Yes it does. But it DOESN'T when people use it that haven't paid into it. It's really that simple. Over 20 years this happened and now it's broken. We can't get taxed anymore. This is why I constantly beat on the drum that healthcare and immigration should be the first priority in Canada. Certainly not the enviroment and new idealisms.

CBC to air comedy "Little Mosque On The Prairie"
mikedavid00 replied to mikedavid00's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I completely agree. It's also unfair to other broadcasters who have to compete with the CBC. Imagine you had a hotdog stand and tax dollars fund a super hot dog stand with 4 times the staff and 10 times the budget. That's how it's like for private media in Canada. -

There's truth to men acting like big kids in the house. Many would say that's almost factual. And it's not bad to do it when it's coming from a private broadcaster and written from people within our own common race and culture. What isn't acceptable, is having a sepearte religion based culture protray us in a non-truthful, negative light. How many white men desire to see a muslim womans cleavage? Not me (that would probably be the last thing i'd want to see actually). I doubt that there is one person here that goes to a diner and has a need to see a muslim womans cleavage. This is just an attack and false protrait of the white Canadian. Saying that men act like big kids around the house is not. -
Yes. Potentially. It's our own countries healthcare system, thus, we can control the demand for it. Yes. That is what they are currently doing becuase there seems to be no other way. Here's a crazy though, how about limiting demand by not letting poeple use it who have not paid into the system. Yes that would mean serioiusly overhauling our current immigration policies. I agree. We don't need new ideas. My household already pays well over $875 a month for healthcare for only 2 poeple. This is more costly than private, out of pocket, US coverage with top medical care. When someone uses the system who has not paid into it, rates will usually increase for most types of insurance. But suppose that rates can no longer be increased becuase they are at a maximum. Then what happens? What happens is healthcare needs to be rationed and supply will not meet demand. The question is, where is all this demand coming from this last 15 years? We already know the answer to that. That is the real issue IMO - not playing with numbers or coming up with new idealisms. If we continue to let people wander into our country and use health services for free, we will have no choice but to allow private hospitals and insurance into Canada. It's either one or the other at this point.

Poor-Bashing is Never the Answer
mikedavid00 replied to maplesyrup's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The difference is, numbers back-up how immigration is destroying our welfare state, a lawyer getting $200 an hour to help pay his employees is a small, and fair amount and he is not collecting our tax dollars or helping destroy our country. Get a machanic and that will cost $80/h here. Find out how much specialized business consultants cost and you will get near the $200 mark. Don't compare apples and oranges. -

Read the fine print. And what is 'living in Canada'. -
I disagree. With our current levels of immigration and the situation that we're in, I would say that our costs at this point in time are simply not manageable. There is a huge influx of people using the system that have not paid into it. Doctors in Canada get rationed out to where they are needed most (Ontario) and the net effect are less Doctors in less populous provinces. Quebec has a problem becuase many Doctors can not speak french and they pretty much have to turn out their own Doctors. They are the lowest paid in Canada and they have HORRENDOUS waiting times. Try 17 hours in emergency. Try 3 years to see a specialist and get a surgery. "Duff McDonald was showing symptoms of prostate cancer last March. He had to wait six months to see a specialist and before a bone scan could be performed, the 65-year-old checked himself into the hospital and died. His daughter spoke out because she says her dad trusted the health care system and doesn't want other people to make the same mistake." another "Dennis Scott's saga began in February of 2003 when his family doctor found antigens consistant with prostate cancer. He didn't receive a biopsy until the next September. That wasn't the end of Dennis Scott's ordeal. He requires surgery to ease his discomfort. Last week he was on a hospital gurney, prepared for the surgery, when he was told to get up and put his clothes on. There were no recovery beds. It was the third time the surgery has been cancelled."

Yes we should. But for the love of God, ONLY for poeple who are Canadians and who have paid into the system - not the 300,000 people that come here each year.
-
I say we just pull out and stop letting them into OUR country in order to secure our own country. I feel that is a bigger priority.

It's not that. It's that a minority religious group that is the center of most all conflict in this world is protraying Canadians as a 'lesser' form of humans than these people. -

I totally disagree on this. I just thought I would throw in something off topic. People can sugar coat the Mosque on the Prarie show alll they like. The facts are, the show sheds Canadian immigrant muslims in a postive light, and shows Canadians in a negative light. And I do not believe it's the CBC's roll to get into the TV Entertainment business. They should focus on Canadian things only. Not American, not the world, just Canada. Let the BBC chase their tail and waste tax dollars. -

Immigrants sending babies back home

Well maybe we should setup national childcare so this doesn't happen. We need these people to use more of our services than they already do. Canada - welfare to the world. -
Link "The Chinese women and their husbands interviewed by The Globe and Mail are all professionals in their 30s who came to Canada believing they would find jobs in their fields that pay well. However, instead of finding employment as civil engineers or meteorologists, they were forced to accept minimum-wage jobs." "Judith Bernhard, director of the Early Childhood Education master's program at Ryerson University, says the psychological damage of separated children who reunite with their families can be severe." An immigration selection model that recruits professionals who end up being forced to accept blue-collar jobs is a flawed one, she says. When their first-born turned 4, Faith Wu flew to China and brought her to their Toronto home, leaving behind her second-born. Her daughter could go to junior kindergarten, and Faith Wu hired a sitter to mind her after school. She is now pregnant with her third. "I will keep this child. I want to enjoy the milestones," she says, massaging her belly with pride, and smiling for the first time in the interview." We let people into Canada when there are no job shortages and we have a high unemployment rate. What don't people understand about this? Lets focus on work permits only and let those into Canada who are willing to work the part time job shortages we have. Canada is the only one doing this in the world. What a mess we're creating folks!

Or how about just "Lebanese citizens who hold documents which entitle them to welfare, healthcare, and services from the country of Canada".
