Another reform party won't even solve this because they will not have power to make changes. Thus 'seperation is the only way'. As great men once said. Alberta's seperation threat is unique though. Canada needs Alberta. Alberta doesn't need Canada. Unlike Quebec, this isn't a cultural issue with language at the core. Alberta is not asking for handouts. Quebecs threats where almost entirely based off handouts and language issues. Major differece. Alberta really does mean it when they say it and I do support seperation of Alberta and especially unionship with the US.

Wasn't the idea that he was going to give back more money to the provinces that give most like Ontario and Alberta? Wasn't that the fiscal imbalance? The answer is for the feds to remove themselves from making descisions on a provinces schooling and infrastucture needs. I think the provinces know what they need most. Let those provinces keep their money and deal with them as they see fit. Naturally though, Harper is working 'with the system' rather than against it. He will win an election this way and I guess that's what we should be aiming for. I believe in Harper and his Reform values are hidden underneath. The Lebanon issue showed this when he acted rashly and called Isreal's defence a 'measured response' or something like that. While he was right, he was going against the values of the CBC which should be respected and this cost him votes. You have to play politics. OR, what COULD be happening is that he's getting jaded by his power and rubbing elbows with elites all over the country and starting to realize if he wants to keep his power, he had better work with the status quo or he'll lose it. You can have a certain opinion when you work for a company, but when you OWN the company, your opinions change due to other influences via the people around you. I hope the latter isn't true.

Favouring dialogue? No, not really surprising. Pretty broad term. Depends on the subjects he proposed to be discussed before we can judge him on that. There was another article in the paper saying that Wajid is almost garunteed to lose this riding next time around. Muslims are mad at him too. Some muslims called the radio yelling where the host had to hang up. Even the president of the Canadian Islamic Congress said that he supports him and says that Wajid is sincere becuase 'if he wanted to get re-elected he wouldn't have made this move'. I think he kind of let that slip out without realizing what he was saying. Think about it. If you are Muslim, and you have a Priminister who openely support Isreal, you won't want a fellow brother officially joining on side with someone who supports Isreal. Not scheduling a surgey with one of our doctors becuase you need a surgery that my own granmother may need who paid into our healthcare system her whole life and may die anytime on our pathetic waiting list. You just want to throw some welfare sucking indolate on there too? Sorry. Her St. Lucia community can pay for her surgery back home. This happens every day here in Canada, this time though, people have found the balls to directly feel entitled to our medical system. If I moved to Alberta I would serioulsy become active in seperation. I have lived in Ontario, has seen what has happened, been to Quebec, seen how that is. I must say though.. Montreal has the best street signs, public benches, most nicesest shopping complexes, clean washrooms, best street lamps, infrastructurer maintance I've seen... it's just an amazing city. Things in Europe are out of control. Their loophole was their assylum policies and family sponsorship. They are being taken advantage of and don't know how to deal with it. Their welfare and social services are being eaten alive and politicians don't know what to do. Canada is different. Our politiicians *are* Islam and Islam supporters. We the people of Canada *support* Islam and are in favor of closing down Christian schools. Canada *has* terrorist cells which the FBI, CIA, and RCMP recognize and we support them. Canada is *against* the war on terror and *support* groups like Hezbolla and are visiously, anti-Isreal. This is the difference between Dutch citizens and Canadian citizens. So am I, which is why I suggest that to curb this problem if you don't want a kid in the first place to keep your legs shut or the birth control (which isn't 100% by the way). If the pregnancy was preventable you should go through with it. Yeah I used to take that stance when I was younger. That is the most 'fair' way to do it I guess. But I've decided I'm not going to be 'fair' anymore in by believes. Canadians have to start valuing human life. Maybe the state can re-emburst the woman $100,000 or so after having the baby. Then an additional $100,000 through the adoption. Hopefully that could ease the pain. When our soldiers die, the widows get $750,000 lump sum, and then monthly pay and the soldiers pension. Money does ease pain. Being pregnant isn't torture. And remember we're not woman. When a woman has a life in her stomach, she wants to carry through. Maybe not at first, but when she starts showing she'll make most likely chose not to give the baby up. Women are aware of the monies they will recieve through adoption and still do not consider giving childer up for adoption. They would rather abort. This is not acceptable to me as a human. Life's not always fair or easy. I've had some terrible things happen to me. Same with other posters on this forum i'm sure. Time heals and we move on. Usually a good one when adapoted by loving parents who can not have children. Fundementally though, I feel that we are focusing on the mother in this circumstance and not the child. There are very wealthy parents who spend years looking to adopt children that want nothing more in the world. Again I have to chose the right of the child not born. I'm sure we can dig and find happy stories of children that were born to rape victims and given up for adoption. To reduce rapes, we need to punish and castrate men who are conviceted rapists. Not let them back out into society. Let's focus on the rapist and unborn child, not the mothers' comfort for 9 months. Either way, it's extrememly rare that children are born to rape. You most likely have a better chance dying in vehicle collision.

That we no longer want these people coming to Canada and that we will focus on protecting our own borders.
