I never said it was all direct income tax. I'm also implying indirect tax payments (gas, hydro, CRC charge from your cel phone). I think it was estimated that Canadians pay 52% of all their money on taxes. I put the figure at 45% becuase the 25% can vary depending on province and such so just kept the numbers safe at 45 and 25 for everyone. So if you and your spouce make $6000 a month (gross), then you are roughly paying $675 a month for healthcare. And suprise suprise "Only seven (7) percent of the unemployed can afford to pay for COBRA health insurance – the continuation of group coverage offered by their former employers. Premiums for this coverage average almost $700 a month for family coverage and $250 for individual coverage" See you have to thoroughly research and look for the truth. Even when you are laid off you have the option to pay for your healthcare and still get it. But eh, American's have jobs everywhere, every field, every age group.. white collar and otherwise so there's no excuse for them not to be working. If they still can't find work then they can get on HMO. Either way, if they are citizens they are being COVERED and will receive excellent treatment.

You're wrong. You haven't researched well enough again. The 45% also includes gas taxes, GST, PST, land taxes and everything else that we *indirectly* pay taxes for. It's not just income tax. All that money goes back into healthcare *or* health servies. Some provinces spend up to 50% of *all* their budget on taxes. eventually The number is actually around %50 but I put it at %45 to even out the 25%.

What are you talking about? He was not elected in because of any kind of healthcare reform. He tried to push it on to the people and it not only did NOT have support from the people, it did NOT have support from their own party. There will always be those in the US who want a nanny state. American's in a large part control their own country. Something not very many here no anything about. They are certainly not going to let their gov't mess up their healthcare system. Dentist - A Dr. that goes to medical school. 2 tier system - no waits. Vetranarian - A Dr. that goes to medical school. Fully privatized system - no waits. Take 45% of your GROSS income, then take 25% of that number, and that's how much you are paying in each month towards healthcare. It isn't free. We all pay for it and don't kid yourself. Increasingly, my taxes are paying for people who have not paid into the system like the Pakistani lady in a full burka down the street who cannot speak English to get her eye surgery literally 2 weeks after ariving in Canada because she has a relative who works at a hospital and got her ahead of the list (true story I was going to call the media but didn't have her name so let it drop).

The majority of people who do not have healthcare are in an age group in their early-mid 20's where they are going to university and such. When they start their working life they will have healthcare. That's not true. Canadian healthcare is WORSE than and more communist than HMO care. I will easily go on the record as saying that HMO is far better quality care than our system. Oh I see what you're saying. I disagree and find that not to be the issue. IMO it's just an issue of immigration and government management. Our healthcare situation is no different that our infrastructure - both are not meant to hand the loads of over-use they are being inflicted with. Goto any major hospital in any major city and you will have people who cannot speak English and translators. Look... 50,000 people alone residing in Lebanon with full access to our healthcare system. My co-worker said she has two Aunts who have Canadian citizenship and live in Iran. But make no mistake, they are coming here for their triple bypass. This is the failure of our system for the most part - we are simply letting anyone, and mostly the 3rd world, into Canada to use our system. But you want to blame Canadians that have paid into our system their whole lives. We should'nt be living as long in order to fund people who don't even want to live here.

I agree. Canada is not 'rich' enough to resolve our healtchare probablems. I estimate it would take a trippling of funds which the country can not afford.

The largest influx of poeple using our system is not these fabled baby boomers (still have yet to see this generation after 15 years or so of baby boomer talk), they are immigrants into Canada using our systems that they have not paid into. Boomers have paid into it their whole lives. We then get an HR shortage, and everything is a mess beyond repair. That's all that is happenning (beside the fact that the gov't cannot manage 1 single program properly). There have also been rebuttles for Moore's film. It openned finishing 9th place. Do you know why? Becuase Americans as a whole are very happy with their healthcare system and the majority want anything but the gov't to get involved. Many reviewers agree that this film actually hurt Moore's 'Liberalness' and credibility seing as some of the peoople he featured actually LOST in jury based courts when they filed claims against their insurnace company. It's amazing to even think that they would even be considered just the 'chance' to have experimental treatements paid for. Go to a Canadian hospital and ask for an experimental treatment. They will probably laugh you out of the building and not even know the procedures you are speaking of. Canada desperately needs a 2 tier healthcare system for all the right reasons. I don't want to follow after Europe becuase we will mainly have US based hospital corporations and we should sick to their way of doing things.

Great, so you have no problem with a "Muslim Party of Canada"? I never said that. I don't feel that we should have religious theocracy ruling us. I'm just saying that there's a difference between the two. There's also a difference between, for instance, an Islamic party and a Christian party becuase Islam in itself is a different 'type' of religion then say Judism or Christianity. One thing probably most people here disagree with me on is the public funding of Christian schools. I believe Jews and Christians should be given special rights in some regards and everyone else can go home if they don't like it: I know it's not fair: I'm not playing fair anymore and will refuse to continually loose our ways to the stoneage cultures which piece by piece, are changing our country to accomodate them. I can't believe the brits saying that even after these attacks 'well you know, we don't want to treat muslims unfairly'. Come on. 'doctors' are now terrorizing. We're willing to loose our own lives because my MUST have stoneage cultures coming here so they can buy their little house and car and persue their lives here. So no. I'm not giving up the Christian schools and I'm not playing fiar anymore. The Jewish in Ontario already lost their right to settle family desputes out of court. This was becuase of Muslims basically crying and whining and claiming things 'aren't fair'. The muslims got their way. They got to make sure the Jewish people lost something that they once had. That's how myslef and many other Jewish on the talk radios saw the whole thing.
