Ok.. I don't like what I'm hearing so far. JBG said something and my ears perked up. 52% of Ontario is born outside the country. Let's please not talk about other countries. Immigrant groups have taken over riding nominations and have easily exploited our political system so far and are continuing to grow. What they did was sign up hundreds of their friends and contacts, and then at the local riding nominations get themselves voted in. That was an exploit of our system that was designed in good faith and honor and has now been borken. Bob Rae mentioned Air India, and thus a group of Sikh's were instructed to vote for Dion and then Dion won. That was an exloit of our system that was designed in good faith. Now can someone please tell me exactly how, this system, which I agree is designed in good faith and honor be exploited. Lets use Sikh's as an example.

I have a question regarding proportional representation. How does the ethnic vote affect this. Are large numbers of people in concentrated areas goign to control most of the vote? I'm actually more concerned if immigrants and minorities will be able to further expand their political franchise though this. That's all I really care about. Will this give them more power and futher control over our political system?

That's just the problem. Most of them don't consider themselves Canadian (as a poll suggests that I've posted before) and many are NOT contributing to the economy (multiple, multiple sats on this one). You are blindly supporting open borders and are saying we have no problems. I support work permits and using immigrants to enhance our own lives which is the whole point of immigration. Immigation was never meant to be some sort of feebie and handout. In turn, those that came here get a better life and money to send home. But we would be talking very small numbers of people each year and these people would be moving to remote parts of Canada to fill labor shortages so the ghettoization would be over. This is why the US does not have the problems that Canada has. They have a functioning immigration system.

But that's the thing. They aren't part of us at all so I'm not including them. When you hear of the 'Iraqi people' (as we have through the years), no one ever includes the Kurds becuase they are not part of the iraqi people. They just completley segregate themselves and are a burden on Iraq. This is what is happening in Canada with our immigrants.

It is the moral and proper thing to do for the parent of the child who broke the window to offer to pay for the broken glass. And replacing a window in Canada is very expensive.

Well I'm saying that we currently have a shattered system of healthcare where citizens are dying on waiting lists and there is unusual long time to wait for organs. Times that are not seen in other 1st world countires but only in Canada. The 14B can fund 2 hospitals in all cities accross Canada. These are fully equiped hospitals and the extra tax revenue can go to staffing of these hospitals. Don't you see? as long our polticians are playing corporation, we will always have to spend extra money on flawed social programs and it will never end along with our inflation. The extra money is 3%. Infaltion could be 3%, population increase could be 3% (including childbirth). So there is their excuse right there not to give it back. The gov't needs to severly downsize, privatize healthcare, and stop immigration or they're always going to take our money.

But what about the healthcare system? It's borken. It's not working and we are forced to use it. The gov't has extra money, yet is not properly funding a healtchare system that is beyond their control. The gov't has an obligation to that doesn't it? Or maybe the gov't should get out of the healthcare business all together. I remember on a radio show the Ontario health minister said "I'm the CEO of a 25 billion dollar corperation". That is not cool.

Yes I do. But we don't need as quite big of a military. The surplus means nothing really and is easily creatable on any given year. A good economy produces a good surpluss assuming a sane gov't and that's all that happened. But it doesn't solve our bigger problem. I don't think the economy grew because of small tax decreases or anything the CPC had to do. I think more people are paying more taxes and certain sectors in Canada did better last year. Unemployent rates fell in parts with total employement up. The cons haven't been going crazy on spending. We are over taxed, and our programs are missmanaged. Putting $14B beside $500B is 3% os small fries although that small number could probably provide HMO medical care to half of Canadian citizens. The gov't needs to get out of the healthcare business now. It also needs to get out of the employment business, and it needs to get out of the University business. Then you'll really taxes drop. Also one last note: just because unemployment is down, revenue is up, and dollar value is on par, it does *NOT* mean that we are enjoying a better 'quality of life'. This is all attributed to immigration. We need to stop it dead in it's tracks. House prices will drop drastically and correct themslves. labor competition will drop, pay will go up, AND ONLY THEN can a newly married family buy a 2200 sq foot house to build a family instead of a moving into a 500 sq ft. Condo. And for the jobs we truly cannot fill, we shall sponsor in workers from south america. Only then we can have wives take real maternative leave from work to raise kids and we can fund those sorts of programs. Now is the time to do it. Now is the time to stop immigarnts from wandering into Canada burdening our lives and stopping us from progressing into further wealth. We need to make some real changes. And yes. It starts with deporting the sikh's in the Vancouver temple who gave that radio host a lesson on how to talk about sikh's all the while someone translating. That coward went to the temple and bowed to them and appoligized as a translator actually did a back and forth. The sikh's then lectured him on how he should address them. He then came back to the studio and cowered out. The Sikh's were pleased with the outcome. I'm not peased with the outcome and the direction of this country. It's time to change now.

I'm basically saying that it's easy to drive a suprless when you are not properly funding programs that you cannot afford. How about I become PM, raise corprate taxes, cut healthare and education spending by 40%, quitely raise income tax, and then at the end of the year, WOW, I HAVE A SURPLESS. A dog can be PM and get a surplus. A TRUE surplus will happen the day all our social programs are running properly (ie: a pefect healthcare system that no one complains about) and then we are left over with money. But that will never happen. Ever. So it's time the gov't get out of the healthcare business, get out of the Education business, and let private enterprise take over. THink about it. Our gov't is running a healthcare insrance company and a healthcare management company a la communism. Our little Canadian gov't chasing their tail having no clue what they are doing while we are dying waiting for surgeries. Our own citizens. It's time the FIRST fix the spending on social programs (and I mean fully privatising healthcare and schooling), THEN work on a surpluss. Basically, the announcement should have been "We have reduced the amount of civil servants accross Canada and overhauled our refugee system which has saved us $14B. Next year - "we have finally privatized healthcare in Canada and this has saved us $80B. Year after "we are no longer giving money to 'culture' and special interest groups or recognize minority groups" - $10B saving. Then NO ONE has anything to complain about becuase they are getting their services and are no longer entitled to free money from the gov't. Only THEN can we pay off the debt and have a true surpluss.

That's because we are paying too much taxes and are leaving people to die in our healthcare system. As in any third world, govt's always finish with a surplus or themselves.

Don't forget about the ethnic/religoius daycare spaces.

You know what the irony of this whole thing is? Eventually, he let some little Sikh student organization push him over and retract his statements. The Sikh student was on our local radio station today and he dissed Canadian culture saying all that our culture was, was saying 'eh' and watching hockey. He completely disrespected 'us' on the air, and our radio host and all the callers were AFRAID to say anything to him in fear of what their 'group' might do or who they might complain to. I mean come on. He's cowered over a student group? Do you know how many Sikh student groups there are in Canada? I think this radio host was just case in point of who we are becomming and what is wrong with us.

You just self defeated your own argument. The problem to begin with, is that these smaller groups ARE being given more special rights than us in the name of culture and religion. You just admitted that we agree. That's good. So if he doesn't want to wear a hard hat when he's building the house, then he is not included on the team and should not expect to build houses. Also, I used that example of more of an anti immigration rant. I can get itno the size of the house and how he's not really needed or really even contributing because there are too many workers standing around to build the house but I won't go down that road. Canada can be likened to a house and it's a good analogy to use. Right now, too many people are trying to build a hourse that is already built. Now the house is starting to look messed up and is not becoming very liviable. IT'S TIME TO CLEAN HOUSE!!

He's a coward. I heard his first radio interview and he did basically tell immigrants to obey our current laws or leave. He cited turbans and hankerchiffs and such. Now he's saying that he's for turbans and burkas and that he really dind't mean any of that. He's a coward folding under the pressure. But he's just what we needed in Canada. He's especially just what Vancouver needed. I just wish he didn't cave in. Don't you see, him caving in and cowering out *IS* what is what gets us in trouble while minority groups get their way in 'censoring' him and 'teaching him a lesson'. That is just wrong.

The problem is now too many immigrants hold political franchise now to the point that we have a minority gov't based soley on the ethnic vote. There are many Sikh members in the Parliment alone (who can't sing the words to Oh Canada btw. YOu had to see it to believe it). So the longer we wait, the more we tanlge ourselves in a mess. As immigrants move further west and south of the GTA, they will take over ridings in those areas also and continue to gain seats in the house. Eventually politicians will give in. I don't want to see our Catholic system go. Just out of principle. But I dont trust a future politician taking a second run at this 10 years from now. The ethnic groups will only get larger and more segregated. And gov't programs wont fix that. Maybe the best thing to do is just not find any religous schools. Maybe it's for our own good. I hate to admit defeat on this issue but we have to safegaurd ourselves from ourselves. If we didn't let so many, so fast, from the same 4 places, this wouldn't be happenning. But look at these discussions we're foced to have. And the sad part is, we are Canadians, we have no real political francihise anymore. We can't do anythign about this. Only our politicians can.

Guyser, People will always define culture. That's the way it has to be. We don't notice the culture so much because we are the culture. Candians think a certain way and do a certain thing and right now people are taking advantage of that and we are now beginnign to realize it. Canadians are socialist people who want a nanny state. Canadians are known to be very 'nice' people. we have been too nice, for too long, to too many groups and now we're being taken advantage of. American's aren't as 'nice'. They have no problem telling people where to go if they try to create trouble and disrupt their way of doing things. Don't believe guyser? Whatch and it will show you what Americans are about. This is with a LIVE AUDIENCE. I really recommend everyone watch this. It's the few times on TV where they talk about simply recognizing muslmis as they are and specifically screening them. The audience is the best part. Canadian culture exists, it's just been buried and distracted since the early-mid 1990's. It hasn't been that long but it's been suffering. And recently Quebec culture has gotten their first taste of feeling how it's like to not have the focus on their own culture but accomidatinng other cultures.

Lol.. why is it so hard for you to believe that they are my friends? One of the girls in Ottawa.. her Dad was the president of the Gudwara and helped establish the Ottawa Gudwara. This is where all the politics happen. And in her living is a picture of her Dad shaking hands with Jean Chretien. Her Dad wears a turbin too. She's single too... the reason is because she refuses to marry a non-sikh despite the fact she can barely speak her own language. So she just turns down men due to their skin colour. We have a huge media organization which take themselves very seriously. The headlines they are reading on the radio are "The 'sick' people from Vancouver are holding a raly' etc. It sounds so dumb when the talk about Sikhs because it sound like they are talking about groups of sick people. What I'm trying to get at, not only are they changing our laws, but they want us to actually conform to their *ACCENTS*. That is wild and retarted. But to be really honest, I find the mounty stuff small fries, the helmet stuff small fries, and even the kirpan stuff small fries. What I find very, very serious are things like: -Introduction of Shariah law in Ont. and Quebec. -The talking of putting foot basins to accomidate muslims so they can wash their feet before they pray. -And finally, the most serious, publically funded, completlely segregated relgious schools A system where Tory basically said himself that you would have these schools playing sports against each other. That would mean it would be Muslims vs. the Jews. All seperate religions, in seperate ghetto's, and all funded by our tax dollars. When these kids get out of these schools.. wow. ... the next step is to sell portions of Canadian land to other countries and/or seperation. Eventually Muslims will be asking for Mosques in all areas where there are abundance of muslims living because you must walk to mosque by feet. Muslims vs. Jews. Wow what a great vision of the future in Canada.

What if that person simply put in another nail after the house was already built and there was a crew of 200 that built the house inside and he wanted to start calling shots of how the house will be decorated and function. They would tell him to get out and give him back his nail because it was crowding the other nails and if there was an open space for nail maybe they would call him. Until then, he aint getting in. That is a more truthful, realistic example.
