Couldn't have said it better myself. The more people who bid for a job, the lower your paycheck, they higher the credentials you need. The more people who move into an area, the higher the real estate prices (see right above why this is a problem). Now Vancouver is at the point where 75% of peoples income is spent on housing and it's known to be almost impossible to get a well paying job where now not even a degree is enough. Jobs there pay nothing unless you are working for the gov't or are in a labor union. Does the gov't collect more taxes? Sure they do. Do these people coming here help our welfare state and the size of our homes and our 'Canadian Dream'? Hell no.

FWIW, even when I was a kid the Green Party was around and got moderate attention. I've never met someone (in person) who believes she belonged at the debates. There is something a bit fishy there.

Yeah it's funny I rarely hear the Conservative ads. There are those who work and build the country, then there are those who tell everyone how we should live. The latter has a franchise on our media and political system. Harper just finished on CPAC right now and it's almost a celebration speech. He's really happy right now. I'm sure he'll be very agressive in his governing and wont cave to special intrest. The Libs will be in no state (financial or otherwise) to start another election. Harper knows this, so it's a as good as a majority to him (that's what I heard a pundit say on the radio).

Remember the Liberal convention where every single candidate crossed over to his side? Even Belinda was backing him. Everyone supported him. Facts are, the bus loads of Sikh's that were there were instructed by their 'leader' to vote for Dion (due to the sympathy Rae showed to the Air Indian victims) and that's the only reason why you see Dion in power today. This is well documented and factual. If you wonder why Dion 'made it', that's the only reason why. Otherwise, everyone was backing Rae. I will go as far to say.. and this is my prediction, Rae will rule Canada for atleast 8 years - *REGARDLESS* of what side he's on. He really is *that* saavy of a politician. Harper just can't win elections. He tries his best. He really does. But he just isn't politically saavy (funding cuts to arts, ignoring Quebec). He belongs as an advisor or finance minister. Not PM. Rae going Conservative is already the rumor mill behind the scenes (as I hear Mike Duffy aluded to today) that's already known behind the scenes and you'll see it play out. If he wont lead the Liberals, he's going to lead the Conservativs. There's almost no stopping it. Anyone reading this mark my words you'll see this all play out. This will be entertaining time in Canadian politics.

The CPC needs Rae badly and Rae already knows it. Before the Liberal leadership race it was widely known that Harper didn't want to face Rae. You'll see the Liberals start to shun Rae because of this. This is all in the worked. I would never count on NDP joining the Liberals unless the name of the LIberals becomes NDP and Jack is in power. That's not true. Certain right wingers believe in cheaper labor for the rich. That means that even if Canadians are willing to work, if the business owner can hire overseas for cheaper, then they should be allowed to do so. I'm not that type of conservative. I'm a Lou Dobbs, Pat Buchanan type of conservative who is a nationalist and believes in closing borders, and sticking up for Canadians. Allowing 300,000 people (who do not consider themselves Canadian) to wander out of our airport and use our hospitals out our expense while contributing NOTHING to Canada is not sticking up for Canadians. Rae will lose to Ignatieff and Rae will have had enough and he can come to CPC and take over Harper. I am hard core extreme right wing and I feel the CPC need to win at 'all costs'. Yeah I certanly agree with you overall. But factor in the reality of our wacked political system and voters. I heard on the radio that insiders have been eyeballing Rae for a while and that he's not happy with the Liberals. Personally I feel Rae is a Conservative at heart and doesn't agree with a lot of Canada's current policies with taxes and immigration. He knows that a group of Sikh's cost him his leadership race. Why? All because he took the side of the victims of the Air India bombing. He fully realizes the problems in Canada. Rae is an elite. He's extremely politically saavy. He can win a federal election - Harper can not and is a lousy leader. It's been known for a long time. Jim Flaherty is seen as too 'white' and racist. He's seen as an Albertan... a Bush.. a hick. a beef eater. I've twice now heard radio hosts correct people that he's from Ontario. He's also physically short. I love Harpers policies, but you really have to look at how racially segregated the voting bloc is. You *really* need someone who is politically saavy to take over the Conservative party. Peter Mckay is just too young. In a decade or too i'm sure he'll be in the greater lime-lite. I see him as a Liberal though. Mckay will move to the Liberals eventually. It's in the cards. Well the party's do have debts to pay and campaigning isn't free for them. I just hope Bob Rae does't get to be Liberal leader. I would welcome Rae into the Conservatives to replace Harper. (double-vague pun intended) I heard that Harper won't care this time because none of the parties will be willing to go back to elections so will goven the way he wants to as the Liberals internally fight for power to replace Dion for next time. Lets hope Harper makes immigration his #1 priority and puts a freeze on our sponsorship and point system program. (I didn't say temporary workers). With the mass full time job loses in Ontario, we simply cannot afford to let 200,000 people wander out of pearson airport who are of little benefit to our economy and country. Lets give the guy a break. He's a professor who has lived his entire life from the tax payer so he has a real insight into the workings of the real world. He's smarter than us. Here's how to fix Canada's economy: Step 1 - Increase taxes on polluters (aka - oil and manufacturing). First step is to make everything more expensive. Quebec'ers and BC'ers should not be paying $1.20 for gas, no, we need them to pay $1.40 which will rob them of precious cash out of the their monthly budget. Money they will not have to spend going to restaurants or buying a shirt at the store. Transportation prices will increase so if you can afford to go to that restaurant, portions will be smaller and/or prices increased. This hurts the faming industry because restaurants are buying less. Speaking of farming, didn't ya hear, gas and petroleum's increased so the operating costs have gone up for farmers and now we are going to have to pay for that at the grocery store. And wait a minute, some of them 'pollute' (despite Canada being responsible for 1.9% of world C02 emissions.). So now these farms are going to get hit with higher taxes! Wow! A double whammy on the farmers. And who's going to pay for this? We are. This will leave us all with less money at the end of the month. We can no longer afford to purchase an Accord. We're going to have settle for a Civic or Echo. These are low profit vehicles for Honda, so Honda Canada will suffer and lay off people from the hq and plants. The factories who make engines (who will be hit with higher taxes and will already be laying off employees), will also close down because now Honda Canada no longer requires these parts. The plastic manufacturer that supplies special gaskets to the engine plant, now has a major loss of business and will be forced to lay off all kinds of employees. With Honda's less sales, they might even shut down some Canadian plants all together. But eh, it's for the environment and saving C02 emissions that Canada is only 1.9% of the world problem. This is the first essential step in making Canada's economy better in these tough times! Raise prices on just about everything. You might get a temporary personal tax credit, but the provinces will be very quick to cancel that on your income tax (as that historically happens). This will surely get us out of our economic problems. Step 2 -Raise Immigration levels to over 500,000 people a year When unemployment rates are severely rising at a rapid pace right now, and citizens are using EI and social services because they are unemployed, and despite the hundreds of thousands of well paying manufacturing jobs lost in the last 8 years, despite the countless reports demonstrating that the majority of new immigrants are not net contributors to our welfare state (aka do not pay taxes to cover the services they use), despite already double digit employment levels in many parts of Canada, despite the immigrants themselves saying there are no jobs in Canada, despite the fact the majority of people who arrive are family sponsored, despite that fact that over 50% of 'skilled' immigrants cannot hold employment for the first 5 years they arrive, despite the fact that the vast majority of them are living in ethnic ghettos where there are high unemployment figures, despite over 1,000,000 people now waiting to come here and use our healthcare system that we have spend our life paying for, .. despite ALL this, it seems that over 300,000 is not enough! To fix our economy, we need 500,000 people a year to further settle into ethnic ghetto's and use our medical system. Where will they work? Dion has it all figured out.. well.. despite job losses and soaring high unemployment and bankruptcies and banks losing credit, we are going to open the flood gates and create a tsunami (sp) of immigrants who shall arrive, move into their ethnic ghetto's, and do what they are current doing now - not contribute and expland into ridings which.. suprise suprise, become.. you guessed it.. LIBERAL ridings! Who's going to pay for all these people flooding in from the 3rd world? The tax payers who are unemployed? Ah I know.. the polluters that's who. Dion has it all figured out guys! We should tax the polluters, but also those who use heating oil and natural gas to eat their homes and then let in 1,000,000 immigrants a year. Somali taxi drivers socialize 95% of the day and evade taxes. They do not work. Modern Immigrants are amongst the laziest people i've ever worked with in my life and I honesty have no clue where this 'hard working' thing came from. Maybe it was from immigrans of yesteryear? I dont know.. They feel 'entitled' to miss work for family events and religous and cultural gatherings. They easily get the most time off work and the best schedules. The will sign up for 24x7 availibility, get hired, and always have excuses on their first day why they need the 8-4 shifts. We all sat there in training (first job) and whitnessed the immigrants getting the best shifts while the canucks got the crapy hours. They really do put themselves above Canadians. They feel they are more educated and deserve more and the whities are immoral and trash with no culture. They'll show us a thing or two about how you run things properly... in... Tyran! Or Dehli..
