  1. That is simply not true. Good TV doesn't have to be expensive TV. Expensive US shows cost huge. The Canadian *PRIVATE* broadcasters simply don't have the investment funds for shows like Canadian Idol becuase the CBC steals those funds away from them. A lot of people here don't get that simple, simple concept. It's the reason why our private media is so bad.
  2. Hey I GOT A GREAT IDEA! LET'S LET IN 500,000 MORE IMMIGRANTS AND REFUGEES IN THIS YEAR!
  3. There is a reason for this. The CBC drains all the *WOULD BE* funds and resources from our radio and television, thus, there is no money, time, or sufficient resources to be put into 'good' programming. The CBC 'takes' it all. Our radio stations would *triple* their revenue, staff, and production if the CBC was not arround to take all the ratings (basically ad money). Ever wonder what happened to that baby on life support? Ever wonder why there's no follow up on the convicted mississauga 17 terrorists? That's because the private media is so slim on resources all they can do is report day to day activity. Private media cannot afford to go in depth, follow up on stories, and do other lavish things becuase the CBC simply takes ad money away from private media. It's that simple. This works out good for the left though. The Canadians are kept with their head in the sand and are told what issues that are supposed to be important by the CBC. The private media can't afford to 'tell you what's important'. But triple their funding and watch the in depth stories come out exposing our corruption.
  4. And I'm sure my tax dollars had something to do with your life adventure.
  5. Also what's funny is that I dont think people have fully realized what costs are going to go up. I purchased my sport supplements as usual. I noticed that I only get charged GST on these. Well, that's going to change. Another $5 a month out of my pocket. I looked into the feasability of getting a greenhouse to grow my own vegetables and such. Also another option would be getting rid of cats which cost us $20 a month in cat food. I'm going to get rid of my $12 a month VoIP home phone and only go wireless only now. Possibly change my ISP also.. Also still looking into breweing my own beer to save costs. This monthly tax grab is really going to hit deep in our monthly budget. Another thing worth noting, that I know people are going to instantly dismiss is that a few years from now, mortgage rates will increase a lot. Anyone who thinks they are getting a good rate right now or who re-negotiated are giong to be sorry when their terms expire. I'm expecting 7% mortgage rates after this whole crisis is over. Factor that with the GST increase and your household could easily be out about $300 a month while salary in the private sector stay the same. Also, I wanted to prove that private sector wages have been stagnent in the private sector (real world), but it seems more and more stats can is operating like a business - not servicing the people: "The current request consists of 68 series, at a cost of $204. Data for years 2000 to 2008 have been requested. " My recommendation is to plan for a LOT of money out of your household income in 2 years or so. The gov't is getting desperate and their hands are in your pocket deep.
  6. After spending time in other countries, it's easy to sum up in a sentence or two what that particular country is 'all about'. After all these years, I've come to the realization what Canada's purpose is and what we are generally 'all about'. Canada is based off a pyramid scheme where the productive sector at the bottom of the pyramid, holds up the public sector and elites above. That's basically 'what Canada is all about'. Nothing less, nothing more. It's why things are they way they are here. Travel around to other countries and find out what they are 'about'. You'll find Canada is 'all about' exploiting the private sector in order to hold up one big pyramid scheme above it which includes our non-profits, civil servants, gov't 'bodies', regulated bodies (tico for example), various lobby groups and a slew of others. Gov't media sources have kept Canadians in the dark for too long about what we 'really do here'. Their job is to keep you uneducated and ignorant. And it works. This very forum is proof. Please read so you can understand our country a bit more. This data is current or near current and backed by stats can. It's stuff that I've researched before, but now that I'm unemployed (again), I have more time on my hands and can show you exactly what it is we 'do here' in Canada. What we are all 'about': -There's 33.5 million people in Canada -Roughly 11 million or so Canadians work full time and report a 'usual place of work'. -Out out of those 11 million, 3.3 million are employed with the civil service. -Roughly 30% of full time, working Canadians are employed in the civil service. (Note: This is after removing part time workers and people who do not report a usual place of work (like wedding coordinators, and other under the table type stuff that is part of our large underground economy. We are only talking about contributing tax payers that actually 'work'.). -About 8 million people in Canada are true, working tax contributors. -The average civil servant makes about $52,000 a year. This is cross Canada. Cities have higher than usual salaries. -The average above board, full time, private sector employee makes about $33,000 a year if you factor 37.5 hrs a week. Note: (Other charts show 30 being average) Also: (The average pay for a *NON* gov't worker is very hard to find. The best I could do is estimate a salary this chart and conclude about $17/h for real private sector work.) -The gov't ultimately collects about $132B in total taxes through the 8 million people who are actual tax contributors. -The gov't collects about $84B in total 'taxes' from civil servants. -It takes $168B to pay the salaries of the civil servants. (Note: We're not even going near pensions and benefits at this point) -The gov't takes in about $500B a year total revenue taken through various other sources mostly from the private sector: ie 'the rich', corporations, capital gains, etc. etc. -Much of this money is 'recycled' funds. How much exactly is unknown. An example is taxing a civil servant when you paid them through taxes. You are recycling tax money. The gov't really brings in about $400B a year from the productive sector. -The gov't spends most of that money in civil servant salaries, pensions, benefits with a small fraction going towards things like infrastructure projects. (Note: Spending are both direct and indirect. These amounts factor in pensions and civil service salaries, non profits, and other special interest spending (ie: CBC, Suzuki foundation, Mapleleaf Web (indirect), immigrant groups, and the list goes on and on and on) In a nutshell: -There are 8 million productive people in Canada. This 8 million include the rich people who employ them. This is the foundation of the pyramid. -The gov't takes from both groups of people to funnel money up to higher rungs of the pyramid. The owner of this website is higher on the pyramid. He is not on the bottom rung, but on a higher rung and has 'made it' to the other side. Many of the people who post here may not fully realize that they are indirectly subsidizing the owners of this websites lifestyle. Forget the website. Its not really about the website. But rather, we, the tax payers, are, untimately, subsidizing someone elses (and his friends) lifestyle. The website is just a tool or 'public face' to ensure he gets his lifestyle (IN MY PERSONAL OPINION). Go research yourself if you question any of this. I can't be more blunt than this example. This is the most real world example I can give that we all share first hand. -This leaves the 8 million working people with very little left for themselves and business owners who constantly fold in order to fund other peoples lifestyles who are higher in the pyramid. -It eventually backfires to the point where no one is able to get a job or pay taxes. -The gov't then gets desperate and rapes these 8 million people for more in order to fund their empires at the top of the pyramid. -Eventually there is a breaking point, possibly causing civil disobedience once these 8 million people have had enough. -In Canada's case, we have a tightly controlled media and regulatory council which makes sure the 'truth is not known' to average Canadians. -Canadians are kept clueless and ignorant to what is really happening in this country. What is Canada 'about'? Canada is all 'about' taking from the poor, and giving to a higher society. It's taking from our small productive class and funnelling the money up the pyramid to fund lifestyles of a small populas who enjoy their lifestyles. Immigration plays a very key role in supporting this system and is why it is allowed to continue but that's another topic. The goal is to keep moving up the pyramid. The more you help the rung above you, the more you yourself can climb that rung. A classic pyramid scheme. Very few countries are 'about' what Canada is 'about'. Look elsewhere and you will find countries with different attitudes and ways of 'running'. They are 'about' something else. If they do pay large amounts of taxes, the public does benefit and the public support this system willingly. Canada is not like this. We are a small group of 8 million who contribute, some of us rich, most of us struggling being exploited to support a pyramid scheme to support better lifestyles higher up the pyramid. That's *all* Canada is about. That's what goes on in this country and nothing else of any value. What is Canada 'about'? A big pyramid scheme.
  7. Here's one of the pics incase anyone hasn't seen. He's someone who I wouldn't want representing me just because of his poor judgement: http://www.rogersradiointernet.com/BC/CKWX...%20blur%202.jpg
  8. AMEN!!!!!!!!!!! This is the best news I've read all year. No jokes!
  9. ...by her own choice. She's laying in the bed she made for herself. She chose her own destiny and there's nothing we can do about it but take it as a learning lesson. There's many here on the forum who support terrorism, who support 9-11, who support Mehar Arar, the Kader family, Tamils, etc. the list goes on. Let this by a lesson to those people.
  10. And that's just the point. Wacky, nut job Canadians for some reason think we are part of Europe more than we are North America. The facts are, we're a car based society. We don't rely and subways and trains and gov't subsidised bicycles (netherlands) to get us around. We can't walk our way around town and live in our low rent apts and go to 'coffee shops' and smoke weed and get home safely without infringing on someone elses rights. This isn't Holland. We have highways and cars over here. This would require driving to the coffee shops and back and the Canadian public just wouldn't go for it. That's why I feel NY style delivery services could be a nice compromise.
  11. And that worked really well didn't it. Lol..
  12. THANK YOU. People need to clearly understand that this is a large, large tax increase and your household will be about $1,000-$2,000 a year depending on your spending and income. Break that down monthly and that's how much is out of our pockets. Could be $50-$200 depending on income. Daycare will go up too.. afterschool programs.. utilities.. house purchases, you name it. Any service you name it. This will be a MONTHLY expense for all of us. Not yearly or occasionally. When you get kitchen cabinets installed, you pay GST only. That was always an incentive to have another private business order and install your cabinets. This way you do NOT pay PST on the actual cabinets themselves. After this goes through, you will pay BOTH taxes and will cause people to go underground to evade taxes. Business owners were calling up the radio station one after the other furious. Our home cutting out resturuants and vacations just hurts ourselves even more. He just doensn't get it. The beer 'Lakeport' I get is brewed RIGHT HERE ON ONTARIO. Now I have to give that up to make up for this nonsense? The answer is to lower corporate taxes, lower all business taxes, and then make the civil service smaller. When gov't spends the money mostly goes into civil servant pockets and new needless job creation and make work projects. I have countless friends who work in the public sector. They pretty much 'laugh' at their own jobs fully guilty of the fact they are 'cheating' their way through life. Teachers are a bit different.. but man.. you threaten to give them 'more' class time or take a week away of their 4 month vacation/sick time and OMG!!! They become beasts!! There is a very, very small percent of people who are happy about this. Those are 3 people in a cubical out of a whole building who now have to do a bit less paper work. McGuinty never asked the public about this through a referendum at all. He never consulted us, he just popped this on us. This would never, ever be possible in the US. You would have to pass a proposition that the public votes on for state tax reform. This is a huge blow to families all over Ontario while I'm sitting here, recently unemployed writing this. And also while there will be an estimated 500 people wandering out of pearson airport today that will need medical and social services that we do NOT have jobs for as they re-unify with their family and cannot speak English and are not here to work but rather buy a house with their life savings and use public benefits. This is how the Liberals have historically kept there seats. We have serious problems in Canada and can no longer continue our legacy way of doing things. We need full changes starting soon.
  13. An you know what else is funny? Alchohol is taxed at 12% PST. So you might think we'll get a break and Alchohol prices will remain the same? Nope. They said lowering taxes on Alchohol would be 'socially irresponsible'. Already Kelsey's have redone their menu (due to the minimum wage increase). Our starter is $10.99 now, is is a new small size, and our Burger is now $12 with less fries etc. Now we are not going to Kelseys anymore. They've lost our business. But seriously, I'm at the point now I just can't cut any 'extras' out of my life now. I mean.. I even stopped ordering Pizza becuase of the prices and now make it at home. Do I have to start making my own beer now??? Like seriously, I have only dry loop internet and 1 cel phone. That's it. No other extra's. No fancy resturaunts. No pizza. No HD cable, nothing. All the things I enjoyed in the past ($7.99 Manderin Buffet as an example) I've given up due to huge price increases. Now AGAIN they are raping us. So what left am I to cut out of my life? There's simply no more. Do I have to live like in Russia and cut off my heating and sit here with a jacket on at home? Seriously this is where Canadians are heading. We can no longer fund the lavish lifestyles of unionized civil servants who do absolutely nothing but hide in their cubicals and attend catored meetings and get their $70,000 paychecks with added 'french bonus' and huge vacation perks. Look at the teachers (!). How about the the gov't immediately halt immigration, and seriuosly lay off the civil service. Each dept. by 20%. Let them be the unemployed. Let them go back to school and get ready for the real workplace. But no. The gov't wants to 'spend more'. Meaning the gov't is growing it's empire with more civil servants. More needless police offers getting paid $100,000 a year to give out tickets. Don't you think there's a SERIOUS PROBLEM when 1 out of 4 workers in Canada are working for the gov't? And who pays for all this? *I DO*. And I'm bleeding here about to brew my own beer to make up for the $150 a month I'll be losing. That $150 could have been my wifes new car, but NOW WE CAN'T BUY IT. Wow there's a suprise! Are you listening McGuinty??? He's on a cloud, never worked a day in his life. His wife is a unionized teacher who collects public funds to fund her and her husbands lifestyle and works 3 hours a day works 8 months a year and gets a HUGE salary compared to the average private sector employ barely making ends meet and living in shoe boxes. He is simply disconnected from reality and this tax move is a raping of Ontarians. We can no longer afford these civil servants and funding of ethnic intrests and burdens (healthcare).
  14. This is one of the effects of immigration. That's just the start. Trust me.
  15. Save your idealisms. I wasn't born yesterday. In practice, savings are never passed on to consumers when gov't gives them a break.
  16. More facts: Fact is, if you make combined $100k a year for your household, you will only get $500 back. Fact is, those payments will be broken up in small $100ish payments each YEAR and you will only get 3 payments. Fact is, small business owner after business owner is calling up the radio station furious becuase they are going to have to raise prices, or take less profits because of this. This ONTOP of the minimum wage increase they are paying out. All this during these economic times. Fact is, the 'savings' they forcast companies will have is less administration and 'streamlining'. Fact is, I was (recently laid off.. our company went bankrupt) a data analyst that worked closely with accountants and, the fact is, all the GST PST is basically combining 2 spreadsheet cell's into 1 cell. That's it on their end. And they deal with one set of paperwork instead of two. These spreadsheets are already automated and it's not an issue at the corprate level. If anything, they now have to completely overhaul their processes. This is the ONLY thing that those Chamber of Commerce people are supporting this tax for. To help streamline their cubical work. Trust me. Ask small business and the common Ontarian what they want. Fact is, estimate for your household an additional $50-$100 more out of your budget each month. Combine that with the healtchare tax and you can see your household at $200-$400 LESS per month since McGuinty took office and services have gotten worse. What's happening here is that they are taking more money away from the common working person, in this time of ecenomic disaster, and they are making their empires bigger. More unionized staff, more raises for them, nothing for us. I'm honestly, seriously pissed off. I'm not joking at all when I say this, they have gone too far and I am ready to protest at Queens park and throw eggs for real. If a person like me is willing to protest, then that says a lot. I protest Europe style. Whether right or left, they've p*ssed on all of us for too long with their controlling us, nanny state, and immigration policies and basically raping us of what little we have left. We can't find jobs, the market is saturated with foreign labor competing against Canadians (I lost a job recently to a Chinese immigrant who seriously struggles with her English), we've been cast out of our eduction systems by forgeign nationals, the only jobs paying anything are all tax payer funded, our healthcare system is corrupt and broken (recently at emergency room with 80% immigrant elderlies.. turbans and all who could not speak English and never paid into our tax system), politicians are acting in their own interest (see the previous sentance), and they are not acting on behalf of Canadians as a whole. We've lost our voting power, social order, and the ability to stand up for what is ours - our own Country. It's not theirs.. the country does not belong to the Liberal party or any politician - it's ours and it needs to be taken back.
  17. The fact is, gas, heating, utility bills as well phone, internet, cable are all going up for you and me. The fact is, housing prices will be going up for most families in 5 years. The fact is, alchohol, tobacco, and many, many other products will be going up. The fact is, more money will be out of our pocket each month. The fact is, there will be more tax evation and underground economy. The fact is, there will be more unionized gov't workers who have fat paychecks that we all have to pay for. The fact is, the gov't is making more money and we're making less. I don't know why people are having such trouble understanding what is going on.
  18. Why not visit just one of the forums where smokers themselves are saying they are addicted: http://www.addictionsearch.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=8 I'm not saying that you can't smoke weed, that's up the user to decide for themselves. Or if they want to quit that's up to them also. Not the nanny state or our gov't. We can't be throwing our own citizens in jail for what they are ingesting in their body unless it begins to infringe on my rights. Decriminilization is good eough and delivery services to homes like in New York should be promoted in order to curb trafficking, undergound economies, and crime in regards to mj. I was just throwing the addiction thing out there. It is certainly a vice and addictive just like me racing home after work to have my wine and drinks. I personally don't like weed. Even when drinking i can conduct my thoughts and still feel 'sober' no matter how much I drink at the Christmas Party. But weed is too much... it makes me feel slow and out of it the next day and the high is paranoid and racy while everythings moving in slow motion and I can't conduct my thoughts - far cry from alchohol.
  19. I like the legalize movement because it's the last thing left citizens are getting together and doing to fight gov't interference in their lives. I dont think the gov't should be waging war on its own people. The reason why the laws are so lax is because most people have done it. It's all over the campuses, politicians sons and daughters are smoking from time to time at school in private. I'd wager a third of the house of commons have smoked it. That being said, people do like their sobriety so a 'nation on weed' will never be a problem. Some people are very gifted and can handle a life of weed. Others cannot. Others get very addicted and it controls their life. The joint is their best friend and they cop out of life starting in the teen years. Just go on any drug help forum and you'll see countless people with 30-40 year addictions that started in highschool and saying they can't quit. Getting high becomes part of your life each night and if you aren't high, you get irretable, stare at the clock, and pace back and forth wondering how to get weed. During the day your more 'slow' in the head. You lose your wit and are nervous feeling. The closer to sundown, the more you crave. Yes, some bright, gifted, high IQ lawyers, moms, and other energetic musicians can smoke to help the study, work, etc. It almost slows them down to being normal. But most of us are average people and weed slows us down and doesn't bring out the best in us. For that reason, I do not support open corner store selling and licenced farming of MJ. I do support complete decriminalization. Complete. No longer listed as a controlled substance. Maybe we can reach a comprimise with delivery services like they have in New York therefore it always stays in the privacy of homes and not 'advertised' to teens (when they are the most vunerable). However, I do support people doing whatever they want in their own home, but believe MJ is an adults game only. If you get hooked at 15-16 years old, you're a customer for life. The other sides to this argument are on the forums where there are people addicted and dropping out of school. Actually I know countless people that got into weed in late highschool years who got good grades, good kids, and really got into weed and ended up dropping out. But see.. that's the parents issue to deal with their kids. It's NOT the nanny states job to parent the child. Canadians are going to have to learn to parent by themselves and decide by themselves what they are going to put into their body. (also note that we are not in Europe or Japan. We drive cars here and people driving high is a disaster waiting to happen and political mess that we shouldn't get involved in so I also do not support cafe's either).
  20. I'll remember that prediction. I was wrong though... I thought the GG was going to allow the coalition but her inexperience and kiss butt of whoever has power mentality got the better of her. Harper probably spent the 2 hours teaching her about the process she knew little about and the GG was probably happy to have him in the room and acting more of a 'fan' or 'home viewer' rather than a fellow elite. She was probably talkign aboout how it's like 'being famous' and sharing stories with him. Harper easily got the better of her. Keep in mind she was only picked because she was a French, Immigrant, Minority - nothing less, nothing more. The job should never have went to her. The left coalition had every right to form their coalition under the law and should have been able to do so. BUT THANK GOD IT DIDN'T HAPPEN!
  21. Cast your vote! Remember, read my sig and don't forget that I professed Rae would be PM. Both are happening. I'm now saying that shortly Harper will be finished with. It's hard to immagine the CPC without harper and I feel he's been the best PM in my lifetime, but he's done with. There are many, many Canadians extrememly happy about the coalition gov't. Keep in mind that the majoirty of welfare, civil servant, immigrant, french Canadians voted for these 3 parties so they are very happy.
  22. Yes.. the PM of our country being selected behind closed doors at a Liberal convention. Yeah that's real democratic. Our system has been exploited and is corrupted. It just took the 'balls' to be able to do it. There is the law, then there are the spirit of the law. You can't nit pick little rules to get your favor if you are going against the SPIRIT of the law. Same thing here with this issue. This gov't goes against the spirit of why this rule was created. There is no economic crisis in Canada. The parties are doing this to protect their welfare funding. Harper is yet again trying to squash his compition through unbecoming means. That's what's really happening.
  23. Harper is finished with. A retired poltical jersey. Harper is not in a position to attempt to further corrupt our system because that's what it would be if he did that. He's done this 1 time too many and I feel it's wrong. I've spoken out about it in the past. He's not a good leader and never has been if you look at his lackluster track record at actually winning elections. Rae on the other hand...
  24. Harpers done with. His days are over.
  25. No. Harper is finished with and will be a name of the past. The educated voter (in a rare minority) does not like what is going on due to the question of democracy. Those minority voters who work in the private sector and AM radio hosts might not like this, but the vast majority of CBC callers and typical unemployed welfare Canadians looking for handouts are all for this. Keep in mind that around 65% of Canadians did NOT vote for Harper - they were part of the wacko left. All three parties are also part of the wacko left. Thus, you really are seeing the MAJORITY running things now so many Canadians are all for this. Read my signature. It's been this for a while. I predicted this would happen to Canada. I said over and over our Parlementary system is not compatible in modern times. Harper should not have done what he did although I do agree with him. He acted just as corrupt as everone else and that sits wrong with me as a person supposedly living in the 'first world'. I ALSO PREDICTED BOB RAE BEING THE NEXT PM. Many here remember this. You know.. the old saying is really true.. there's a certain freedom and democracy that you get in the US that is present no where else in the world. Now hopefully some of you will see what they mean when they say that.
