Interestingly, globalism seems to be less of a problems for authoritarians. So is this really the binary choice we have, one or the other, coming on a millennium of democracy, and so many millions of intelligent evolution? A buck-master or the beloved supreme leader master? Or is just the plain old Mendel genes - a herd of great apes must have an alpha master; however they are named or entitled, and in whatever dressed? You try to question it, argue with it but it's in your DNA.

The push is on of the Omicron or Omnicon virus.

Are we moving toward a Kafkian 1984-style bureaucratic condition? I'd like to be exaggerating but.. as heard on the news today, hospitals are calling workers back with positive Covid and even symptomatic Covid. Right. A deadly, highly transmissible plague (Heavens forbid) of our time, a scour run hide shut down everything as heard on all the media and... you are marching back to a busy office with symptoms of the infection "due to chronic shortage of stuff". Are these parts of the same reality, or different pseudo realities hastily stitched somewhere in the middle, under solemn muzak with heroic overtones, ta-da? You want to cry, surely? For these heroic workers solemn sacrifice? Or that your tax dollars go to pay for this chronic state (complete with astronomical CEO entitlements) right out of your pocket, for decades, and you have no, zero, none at all thank you say in it? Sure there's a shortage of nurses and critical care doctors for decades and no matter how much public money is thrown but have we ever heard of any shortages in CEOs, managers and bureaucratic staff? And now, back to the daily drama. -
Many reasonable methods can be tried and applied but again the question is: why? Why would a bureaucrat want to move their a... chair if by doing same exact thing as a hundred years back they would get and expect to get exactly the same? It changes nothing for them. Between the first SARS epidemic twenty years back and now, how many reports on epidemiological preparedness were written out of taxpayers pocket, and what has changed, anything?

The responsible thing to do, given the novel nature of these treatments and unprecedented breadth of their application would be to implement an effective reporting and tracking mechanism for any adverse reactions. Once again, why it was not done beats everything: reason, common sense, basic responsibility, minimal responsibility, professional standard you name it. -
The problem is not how bad it is. The real problem is the vector, the way forward and out. There's none, here. Do you see it, or know what it can be?

The immune system is highly individual. I would expect that the same amount of mRNA injected would produce response with significant variation in the population. Not an expert in this specific area though. And now we have to define the doze that is good for everybody. Make it low, and the response would be too weak, in some. Make it high, and some, with higher sensitivity, would develop reactions. So on the extreme ends there are too options: a) a higher doze to produce certain minimal response in all. That would be too much for some. b) a lower doze to keep it safe for all. That would be too little for some to produce the response consistent with effectiveness. And now we have to guess which of the two the companies chose. Can we guess? Or how could we know? -
Mandatory Covid vaccination in Canada now a possibility.

At least you're not crying watching it wobble from crisis to existential crisis. I'll leave it to you to figure out; there's nothing more to discuss here. -
Absolutely, any interference with individual freedoms on purely ideological grounds is wrong and dangerous. Persecuting gays is no better or worse than that of unvaccinated, the same of course applies to abortion etc. Understanding that we can form a basis, platform for a society that is based on freedom and reason. Otherwise we can be arguing forever whose wokism is the correct one to cancel everything else. In the old times it was about gods. Guess it's hard for us finding peace, that "live and let live" place.

I hoped to be taken on the offer, but OK. The next one may not be as good though. -

So what, good work cannot be underpaid and our esteemed entitled bureaucrats will surely sign up to that. And I'll do it in less time than it took our exspert managers to make yet another all time high. -

Yes someone has to figure it out, being paid $30,000 monthly. I'll do it for half the price. Not that I'm cheap just don't need that much from the collapsing, etc system. -
These diversions can be dangerous if and when they acquire life and momentum of their own. History has examples of that too. Maybe there will be no concentration camps though who's giving guarantees? But imagine a world where one's entire life can be upset and cancelled for a single statement going against the ruling dogma. Is it so hard to imagine, already?

I bet you cannot prove that, yet again. Especially given that treatments would be needed for, on average, about 1% of the cases (not even population!) while mRNA boosting could be given to the vulnerable and those who want it. -

Effective treatments have been approved and available for well over a year. I cannot comment why someone is not doing something that both a) makes sense and b) is necessary instead investing public resources into futile (as the results clearly show) propaganda, but it could be related to us having a "fragile" "collapsing" and "crumbling" (note, the epithets are not mine, the managers) system in the third decade of "fixing it for a generation". -
Mandatory Covid vaccination in Canada now a possibility.
myata replied to CITIZEN_2015's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Yes it did, unfortunately. Maybe not in the least because the attention and propaganda were diverting attention and efforts from developing and providing effective treatments where they are needed, to a universal panacea that still has not materialized. -

Questions are good. Answer: many diseases make millions sick and worse. For example, ordinary flu (a bad year) made tens of thousands die in a single year only the US alone (5% of the world's population). -
And it did not take long at all, as demonstrated by another topic (Trudeau), if uncalled and unchecked wokism will make stronger and bolder claims on an unquestionable monopoly to "good" and "truth" all the way to scary and dangerous reminiscences of the past we thought and hoped to have left behind.
-
I understand enough of it to make my own conclusion that it has nothing to do with a) facts b) logic and c) reason. Linking in a public forum conscious reluctance to have mRNA boosting with misogynism and racism without a shred of evidence is deceitful and deplorable. It's sad that the country has come to that. And I don't see how it can get better any time soon with public bureaucrats having zero responsibility for their words and results.
-
This is a l.. misrepresentation. It's a dogmatic ideology that thinks nothing of using instruments of power and influence to promote itself to the society while ignoring, diverting attention and shutting down any opposing views. In its developed form wokism will become authoritarianism as it has no respect and need for fairness, objectivity, balance and impartiality.
-
It's just a symptom. One clear way of knowing you're a woke if you see any case of exploitation of positions of power and responsibility to promote woke views as entirely normal, and all filtering out, ignoring, and in increasing number of cases, suppression of different views as non existent. Once in it, it's exponentially harder to return back to normal not just because someone is forcing them, but because they stopped seeing and understanding normality. Only a pathetic symptom, treatment can be complicated in these cases.

Take pretty much any storyline, topic in "progressive" (so called) media. Always it's on the same blueprint: a heartwarming anecdotal, "kick off" story; a cute and intelligent wise and bearded or female "expert", professor somewhere etc (qualifications are rarely discussed or focused on). And an ugly, aggressive better still, violent opponent, "anti"-something. Here you go, narrative's all ready for public consumption. Label, brand it noisily, loudly, in your face. Ivermectin, a broad anti-infectious drug given a Nobel prize for discovery, in mass clinical practice over four decades a "horse dewormer", not so bad eh? Who said it has anything to do with l-ying only your "information". You want to see isolated episodes but it can very well be a progression.
