  1. The funny thing with the mad bunch is, you can't tell when they feel ironic or that's how they really think. Scary, no?
  2. The sh*t of this kind will stick for generations. You can retain your honest name, self-respect and dignity by bowing out of it, pretty much now. Otherwise you'll go down with it and your name will be dragged out and studied in generations, like you know whose. The choice is yours and there will be no naive explanations. You know it without any doubts and here's one more, possibly final reminder.
  3. Just like the last time something of this kind happened, there's no getting rid of that blemish now. Twice impeached, 34 convictions, indicted with anticonstitutional conspiracy. All is right there on the banner. What's there to add?
  4. From the sleepy and sluggish corporate goo it has grown to become. Joe's episode is terrible in its shameless stupidity. These things shouldn't happen with a grown up responsible organization of a modern functional democracy. It shouldn't have but it's before our eyes. So something is wrong: so a renewal is necessary, it cannot be avoided and is brought to us as p*ssed slippers by the Time. A dynamic, thinking, intelligent party of meaningful and respectful discourse on any issue - not worshiping ideological dogmas and senile idols. A shakeup was needed because the common sense and the ability to unite and act were sailing away. Time to bring them back, and there's a cause now too - the one that cannot be dismissed or postponed. So a necessary, challenging but also a rewarding process of renewal and rebuilding. Something new will come as a result. Something that is stronger, better and more beautiful. Something that will stand and be a firm foundation of freedom and progress for several generations more. There's much work at hand. It cannot wait. And the Joe debacle, absolutely cannot be forgotten. For the next 21 election cycles - no less, it's an absolute minimum at every convention we go through the "Joe rounds": why we have our individual brains what was the reason; why is it important to think with our brains and use our eyes to observe the reality, not someone else's. Think what Joe would do - and do the opposite because you know what happens whey we stop using our brains.
  5. Will be determined these days, now and in real time. Forget dusty declarations: they are in the past. The true meaning of the great words, if any will be determined now. Do the records and pictures of old glory still mean something? Or is a bunch of corrupt lying men all it takes to make America hand over its heart and its soul? Then perhaps they weren't worth much to begin with. The Time will always come and question the true meaning and value of any great words. There's no avoiding this test.
  6. Let's recall how they got here: in the fist days after Jan 6th and the election assault most public Republicans folded on a slightest of a cue. There was no struggle. They were warned of a slippery slope and they walked it all the way to the shameful, dismal end. Integrity, principles, constitutional duty all traded for political expedience. A total, irredeemable corruption of nature. From a shame of this depth, there's no walking back. There's no future for this party in any normal future of America if it's still possible. Individuals of integrity, principles and responsibility, for the America and the world are advised to leave it as soon as possible. If for your own sake, as the past clearly shows. There's no way to control it but it will try to control and consume you, whole till nothing is left of the former self. Nothing but shame is left there. So be it.
  7. The lesson is always the same: nothing is off the table in such situations. No infallible guards or guarantees of protection. We forget this simple lesson at a rick of huge, overwhelming uncertainty. And again.
  8. There may not be coming back from this shame and this betrayal. Election win at the cost of the ultimate downfall of integrity and substance. The legacy. "We helped Him to power": the motto will now reverberate in generations.
  9. And for Joe... well it was a failure. His legacy; his party; his country; and the world. To leave this kind of problem for the posterity to figure out, well it's a failure Joe. The legacy.
  10. Where "good direction" is: Twice impeached, attempted to subvert election and sack White House; convicted on 34 counts, charged with a conspiracy to subvert democratic government... that's Maduro, right? Wait there's more: cancelled by plebiscite the rule of law, as universal applicability. Be wary of bad directions America!
  11. Well, my assessment is in, and I'm speaking only for myself. The Democrats certainly committed an unforgivable act of carelessness and stupidity; sad and miserable, in the view of the responsibility and possible consequences. One isn't allowed many of these before all hope is lost. But the Republicans are gone indeed: done and sealed for anything good. From the shame and betrayal of this magnitude, there's no coming back. No happy redemption stories there. And no Nazi party in today's Germany.
  12. Here's a fitting tagline: "And you thought you could control me?". A finger too. All the way to the founders, 1789. Burn baby, burn let's have a great party!
  13. Prepare for worst that is yet to come. No rock of stupidity and/or indecency will be unturned. Criminality? We'll have to watch.
  14. That would be like, in the times of WWII look we planted all these cute daisies but forgot to show up for the main battle with the Axis. Mindboggling. Astounding. Perplexing. But this is the true state of today's America, behind all fancy facades. The decay has reached the very core.
  15. Sleepwalking into disaster: Democratic elites are learning nothing from the defeat. Most likely, they are too disconnected and entrenched to have the ability to learn. The decay consumed the entire political system: both of the main parties, and a large part of voters turned pueblo living in a fairy-tale world. That's why "let's just wake up in four years" is the dumbest idea possible. No such miracles. When entropy went this deep and far, there's simply zero chance that it'll fix and reverse itself.
  16. You're looking in the wrong place - it's not logic, not reason that these ideas are driven by. Or rather different kind of logic. As every aspiring dictator he needs to raise the stakes so that everyone is instantly baffled and distracted from other issues including very real ones including the ones he promised solutions to like food prices. In the struggle mode it's easier to keep distracting the pueblo as Maduros of the world know very well. And so he's launching several at once. Will it pay off? Will pueblo swallow it? We will have to see.
  17. Of course not. "American public" cannot substitute the law and due process that would be called "mob rule". But if it decided to cancel it effectively, it means that the rule of law is broken and the Constitution itself is now dysfunctional as one of its key functions no longer words. Ergo, the end of the period of the first.... factually.
  18. American populace voted to cancel the principle of universal justice. A crime has to be prosecuted regardless of who is the alleged perpetrator: cancelled. No ways around it. No chance of swiping it under the rug and pretending that nothing happened. A key principle of justice, just cancelled by a public plebiscite. Is democracy possible without rule of law? Does this set an effective end to the period of the first American constitution, 1789?
  19. That word just isn't expressive, colorful enough. Imagine, Heaven forbid Putin just launched an n-strike. Where's the CinC? What's this sound zzzzzz--. Can he be waken up, any chance in the next fk minutes, hours to the reality? But seriously. How do one comments on this condition? Like some bizarre absurd tragicomedy show from the alternate universe. Is that what insanity is, on the outside?
  20. A good analysis today in The Guardian on Biden's legacy. In the summary, it's hard to disagree: "The prime directive of Joe Biden’s presidency was to prevent Donald Trump’s return to power and his failure to do that is likely to be his lasting legacy.” Given the stakes, Biden's entire mission had to be to prepare and build the strongest position possible for the 2024 elections. He delivered an astounding and unforgivable failure on this one crucial priority - and not even for his legacy: for the country and the world. I don't even want to guess how it happen. But a failure of this magnitude brings his standing as a democratic politician down several levels. Surprising and disappointing to read: Dean Phillips, a Minnesota congressman, announced that he would challenge Biden in the party primary, citing poll numbers and the president’s age as reasons to pass on the torch to a new generation. He told the Washington Post newspaper: “We’re at grave risk of another Trump presidency. I’m doing this to prevent a return of Donald Trump to the White House.” In public, Phillips was ridiculed (for expressing objective, factual reality? unbelievable - m.) In private, others shared his concerns. Larry Sabato, director of the Center for Politics at the University of Virginia, recalled receiving a call from a Democratic senator in late January or early February 2024. “I said, ‘Is there any particular reason why you called me? I’d like to know.’ He said, ‘You do realise, off the record, that Joe Biden is not going to be our nominee?’ I was stunned. I said, ‘What, how, why?’ He said, ‘I just was at a meeting with him with several other senators and he couldn’t even function. We can’t run him". Disappointing isn't the word here, disgusting is. Unbelievable, too. At the time when... please save me repeating. This is what the ultimate, pinnacle of disconnect and irresponsibility looks like, isn't it? We have to be fully honest about how America got to arrive at this present condition. The roots were deep and there was more than one reason.
  21. But you see it appears that humanity never actually learns anything. There's certain evolutionary reason for that but the way it works every few generations, forget the books, stories, films, personal records and so on, we have to reinterpret the rules and wisdom passed to us over from the earlier times. And the result of this process isn't guaranteed by far and by anything. So yes, literally over the same pothole again and again and it takes just once to sink into it.
  22. There are well known outlets for fascist diversity. No doubt you'll be very welcome to spill the indignity of the oppression and (fascist) freedom aspirations there. Good luck, too.
  23. As someone from Canada put it, precisely and succinctly, where was nothing sudden about these events. For years, it was painfully clear that the political system has reached it's best before limit and moved way past it. There are no more quick band-aid fixes from this condition than trying to stick it on a broken main pipe. More alarming precedents have been created over a few years than the decades that preceded them. It has to mean something. It cannot be shrugged away. And there are some important lessons for the rest of us who value and intend to keep our democracies. First, big business and politics is a bad and dangerous mix. Big money shouldn't be allowed anywhere near public politics, laws and regulations, firm and penalties for violations, severe. It was plainly, dumb of Americans to view democracy as a magic well that would take in and digest any sh*t they throw at it and excrete pure ambrosia. They could have guessed nothing in this world works this way. They were warned it won't work this way because it's a dumb fairy tale that doesn't and cannot exist in this universe. Democracy is for grown up, thinking and responsible citizens. And no other magic will work to keep it. Now, looking at the example they are offering us, generously we need to recall and remember that. Second, polarization, animosity and negativity is a serious symptom. It cannot be dismissed and ignored as "marginal" and needs to be looked at and understood by the society. In this case, traditional elites yet again sat back in their comfy chairs failing to address two importation issues of a growing concern to the broader society: stagnation of broad prosperity; and immigration. And not lastly, democracy does not take well stalling and stagnation. When an impasse is looming, the society must look for solutions, try novel approaches but to sit back in the high tower and preach from there is a failing strategy that may very well lead to the condition we're observing these very days before us. Democracy is no magic and reciting fairy tales won't keep it going. Daily thought and reason, thoughtful and respectful discussion of responsible citizens who value each other and their shared present and future. Today, tomorrow and every day - for as long as democracy lasts.
  24. Well facts exist and they don't lie: fascism is an anti-democratic, violent, inhumane and criminal ideology. The lessons of its development and deeds are recorded in history. In the context of this topic, we look at how fascism deals with minorities. There are many, many well-known facts on that subject as well. For all other aspects clearly beyond and not related to it, you are advised (and in fact, encouraged) to use another venue.
