  1. BC students understand when neo-liberal policies are damaging their futures. They want public education to be corporate driven like in your USA, where public education has suffered at the hands of greedy corprortists.
  2. No. I see reality. You don't understand what is happening.
  3. Actually I've seen many photos of kids and parents holding signs, walking and supporting teachers. I've heard of many stories of students and parents bringing locked out teachers coffee and snacks. I've heard many stories of the number of honks and thumbs up passerbys have given the locked out teacher. Anyone who thinks the public is pleased with this assault on public education is delusional.
  4. Where's PCT hiding? Looks like he finally realized he is on the wrong side here. Parents and the public overwhelmingly support the teachers. This has been well played by the BCTF bringing the issue of class size and composition to the forefront.
  5. It's too bad it has come to this. When governments bargain in bad faith, strikes ensue. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/b-c-teachers-to-begin-full-scale-strike-tuesday-1.2670993
  6. Teachers vote overwhelmingly for escalation. Too bad PCT. You lose again. Do you understand what solidarity means? www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/b-c-teachers-vote-overwhelmingly-for-full-scale-strike-1.2670993
  7. Hey PCT, looks like the LRB ruling was affected by bias. What a surprise. You have nothing left. http://northerninsights.blogspot.ca/2014/06/conflict-of-interest-wazzat.html#NEB
  8. I've been looking at photos of today's lockout and I was proud to see many children and students holding signs in support of teachers. Even they know who the bullies are.
  9. Actually, if you knew anything, you'd know that comparing negotiations with CUPE to those with the BCTF are like comparing apples and oranges. FYI CUPE brothers are sisters are showing solidarity to the BCTF. Understand the facts before spewing nonsense.
  10. If you polled 1000 people, buddy, you would get a majority supporting the BCTF. Take a look at all the rallies and notice the photos showing massive support for teachers. All teachers want is A FAIR DEAL. They care about the kids. That's what they are fighting for; CLASS SIZE AND COMPOSITION.
  11. And yet another poll in favor of BC teachers. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/b-c-teachers-strike-should-they-walk-out-1.2670993 The BCTF will not be broken. Thank a union. http://pcurmblog.blogspot.ca/2012/05/thank-union-member.html
  12. Another poll that shows the BC public supports the teachers over the government. http://globalnews.ca/news/1383769/nearly-half-of-b-c-parents-with-children-in-school-support-teachers-poll/
  13. We all know how the neo-liberals in BC are trying to dismantle public education, but a battle could also be brewing in Ontario if the PC party and their neo-liberal policies try to gut public education. There seems to be a massive undertaking to hurt public education. I will keep this thread updated as more info pours in from Ontario. However, I believe Wynne will be victorious which will give public education 4-5 years of stability. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/ontario-teachers-will-receive-three-quarters-of-pay-in-case-of-strike/article19080086/ http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/education/lack-of-new-education-funding-in-ontario-budget-irks-teachers-union/article18385040/
  14. This is a very well written blog that explains why it is necessary to vote no this time around. Teachers care about the kids. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1CsNjkygWGtmef7YB0N_ANqZPQrKhiN7t1lPmmYEOu00/edit?pli=1
  15. You know very little. The teachers will vote yes, but will refuse to o on a full scale strike. They will continue with rotating strikes which will allow HS students to complete exams. The public will see the sacrifice the teachers are making and will support them even more. I like how the BCTF is handling this. And PCT, please learn the difference between lose and loose.
  16. This is for the ill-informed. That means you, PCT. http://www.vancitybuzz.com/2014/06/bctf-vs-the-government-of-canada-a-battle-against-ignorance/
  17. How old are you? Here is a show of support. You likely missed it. http://bc.ctvnews.ca/video?clipId=377873
  18. You are avoiding the fact that your side is losing and you have been ignorantly wrong from the get go. BTW, your jokes aren't very funny.
  19. Those of you who are not paying attention to this issue can watch this to gain a full understanding of what is happening. The public support for BC teachers has been astounding. Sorry PCT, not what you wouldn't to hear as you don't deal with facts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nxlw3iH8OE4&feature=youtu.be
  20. Also PCT, how teachers spend their money is none of your business. BCTF spent a lot in court defeating the BC libs. Court costs money. Maybe you didn't know that living in la la land.
  21. This is simply representative of the neo-liberal attack on teachers and public education. Read this for greater understanding. http://iejll.synergiesprairies.ca/iejll/index.php/ijll/article/viewFile/679/340
  22. Some excellent articles here. Stay strong BC teachers! http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/ashley-mackenzie/bc-teachers-strike-vote_b_5458962.html http://thecoalmine.wordpress.com/2014/06/06/why-i-will-vote-yes-for-escalating-job-action/ http://m.thetyee.ca/Opinion/2014/06/07/Subsidizing-Private-Schools/?utm_source=daily&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=070614 An overwhelming vote in favor of a strike, with a nearly empty strike fund, would be quite a statement.
  23. What a ridiculous list. Teachers are fighting for class size and composition which will benefit everyone's kids. The government is trying to dismantle public education . Teachers are united and stand behind the BCTF, along with a majority of parents. PCT, are you paid by the government to troll forums and make anti-teacher comments?
  24. BC students have organized a walkout to protest the teacher lockout. From what I am hearing, an overwhelming majority of these students are siding with their teachers. This is good ton see and helps restore a little bit of confidence in our ever-eroding democracy. The sign in the picture of the link I provide says it all. Kudos to BC students for seeing what is really going out with this lockout. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/b-c-teachers-strike-student-walkout-plans-prompt-warnings-1.2664097
