  1. If you can't afford it, put it down.
  2. If women have defacto control in the situation, does that not get the guy who knocks said girl off the hook if she goes through with the pregnancy. After all she could have had an abortion
  3. Because shipping stuff through the great lakes sucks. Train to lakers to ocean vessels instead of train to ocean vessels in bc or Churchill. There's more people in Asia, and the USA than out east. Third time is a charm. Personally I'd send a pipe north and load up tankers that can go west or east and everyone's happy.
  4. How about the businesses can conduct themselves in whatever language they want like the rest of the country. Maybe they might be inclined to stay. Language is only a part of the red tape in that province.
  5. Isn't that the name of the game? The founders and the financiers of those companies aren't going to live together. It's the end part of a business, selling out when done.
  6. It's all because of the size of walmart. It is such a large company that any small change to wages would end up costing a lot of money, to the point of putting it in the red ink. It's a bit to wrap the head around but that's what the numbers say. Why the beef with somebody getting rich?
  7. Also to note it took that kind of an ass whipping to get the Japanese and Germans to get their heads out of their ass. Unfortunately that may be what may have to happen over there. Heck the ottoman empire lasted a long time by keeping everyone's ass in line. That's the problem with treaties, they always tend to get broken. We should be fortunate the Americans whipped the USSR in economics. Europe today isn't pacified because all of a sudden people decided to play nice, Europe is pacified because the Germans got whipped and whipped good.
  8. And why is it's fiscal capacity below that of other provinces, maybe because it has the most red tape of any of the provinces in Canada and stifles opportunity at every turn. Ontario is in a similar geographic and demographic situation and they were almost always a have province until the recession cut the legs out from it's customer. What's quebec's problem. And please don't yak about the formula. It's a province managed by fools and their books show it. There is no excuse given quebec's geographics, population, and natural resources why it can't be a have province. None. Nfld and SK became have provinces along with bc Ontario, and Alberta. What's quebec's excuse. I mean mb has a low population and not much for natural resources, and the maritimes and the territories have very small populations. This isn't about the formula existing or not, it's about getting Quebec to the same side of the formula the contributors are on, but since they are run by leftist fools, this is what happens.
  9. You'd have to ask them. I chose to be a farmer rather than a first grade school teacher or a nurse or a policeman or a firefighter or in the army or an engineer because that's what I wanted to do. Maybe it's a coincidence that a lot of women just don't want to be cops.
  10. China has mo ey, the maritimes don't. However it looks like a pipeline may be going there as apparently Quebec, Manitoba, and Ontario are fine with a pipeline going through there. Dirty ahem ethical oil for everyone!
  11. Walmarts system is to be the grand poobah of cheap goods retail. Their business model is based on razor thin margins, so thin that if they raised their wages, their shareholders would take a drubbing. Its a model that has worked for them. As long as people are willing to buy low priced crap that they don't care where it comes from, then walmart will succeed. Not only that walmarts customer service is second to none. You can return a product there no problem at all I don't even hardly shop at walmart because it's all crap there.
  12. No hey would be in worse shape because they'd blow their money on social programs. Heck Quebec has ports, close USA market and a large population and they can't seem to make it work
  13. Maybe the lifestyle doesn't appeal to them. Heck the lifestyle of farmers doesnt appeal to a lot of people. Same with the various people not wanting to be nurses, teachers, loggers, fishermen, entrepreneurs, etc.
  14. I don't know, you'd have to ask some females...
  15. I'll compare the ability to get rich in Alberta vs. Norway. If you work hard and make good decisions, your ability to succeed in Alberta is greater than in Norway period end of sentence. Klein slayed the debt and balanced the books. I'll take drunken Klein any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Money talks. Heck the boys in Saskatchewan took a page out of his book and that place is booming. Brad wall can decide how long he wants to be premier. If I were him I'd start learning French.
  16. Maybe it's simply they don't want to apply. Maybe it's the nature of the job that turns some people off. I hear the ads on the radio, basically it's an open invitation to any one, which is what it should be. I don't think standards should be dropped to meet quotas, IMO that is dangerous. Argus said it best, it's the same reason why more males aren't nurses or early grade teachers. Same hing goes for women farmers, women equipment operators, loggers, etc. I'm sure they can do the job just as well, it's does that kind of job appeal to them in the first place.
  17. Except that Alberta was well run. Klein fixed alberta's books on 20 dollar oil and a weak dollar. All one needs to do is look at alberta's books. You don't last 40 years in govt without doing something right.
  18. No, it wasn't through fighting the big wigs, it was the people with money investing in workers and getting a profit and creating a situation where everyone wins. This scenario is happening in Latin America and southeast Asia now. Many people being elevated to the middle class and inflation isn't an issue. They may not be getting north American wages, but things they buy are priced accordingly. There are many instances of countries like that being far better off now than when it was only north Americans working. You can also look at the oil patch, not much for fighting the big wigs out there, yet the bottom of the totem pole workers are making scores of money. The middle class was built by an investment in workers, not this "fight" people talk about. Workers are finding out the hard way there are other countries who are able and willing to do the work much more agreeable than north Americans. As a result there is massive wealth growth all over the world and more people around the world are in the middle class. If your in the right industry in north America, having wealthy people all over the world is a good thing.
  19. Good grief, I disagree with just about everyone. That defeats the purpose of debate just reporting it. I look at freedom as a two way street, better be careful replying to him or it's off to the cooler. Oh the irony...
  20. That's the problem with a story like this, they omit a lot of important details in order to make it fit in an easily digestible message. Some people give the kid the benefit of the doubt, some people give the guards the benefit of the doubt. I'm going with the guards because they have more skin in the game if it goes to court. I wouldn't doubt for a second the kid was asked to leave, and considering the stink he threw when being cuffed, I don't think he listened. It's a weak mischief/cause disturbance charge, but it's enough to arrest/detain for investigation. Just remember just because your under arrest doesn't mean you go automatically to jail, it can be for 2 minutes if need be. S 494(2) states Marginal note:Arrest by owner, etc., of property (2) Any one who is (a) the owner or a person in lawful possession of property, or ( a person authorized by the owner or by a person in lawful possession of property, may arrest without warrant a person whom he finds committing a criminal offence on or in relation to that property. Marginal note:Delivery to peace officer The security guards are authorized by the owner in lawful poss. Of property (mall owner) may arrest without a warrant a person he finds committing a criminal offense in or related to the mall. It's quite clear. It isn't about the pictures, it's about the kid not following mall rules which even though it's a gut shot means the kid Interupting or obstructing lawful enjoyment of property. The kid done himself in by deciding to go off the handle and start swearing at everyone which is cut and dry cause a disturbance.
  21. People in glass houses shouldn't throw rocks. If your going to be bitching about this kids rights being taken away which they clearly were not as per my explanation of the criminal code, don't be a hypocrite and try and limit my freedom of expression. If calling someone a dumbass is that offensive, you have some issues at need to be addressed. That's not even pg-13. C'mon man. If that's your way of dealing with an argument by playing the I'm offended card, instead of offering an argument back, bravo. Freedom works both ways.
  22. There's a difference between removing your name tag and keeping your trap shut when your name tag is visible
  23. Section 494 stating committing a criminal offense, that includes summary as well as indictable. The article doesn't say if the kid was asked to leave or not. It's also mischief. If he was asked to leave and placed under arrest and resisted, he criminal code clearly states that any one can use appropriate force to prevent the continuation of an offense. Do you guys not read the criminal code sections I post?
  24. If your in private property and requested to leave and fail to do so constitutes as mischief. You are obstructing lawful enjoyment of the property. It's dirty but its how it is. If someone stood in your house and you asked them to leave and they didn't, that would be mischief as well.
