Harper's Election Promises....
uOttawaMan replied to Concerned's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
This whole thing leaves me wondering.. if you have elected Senators.. what's to stop them from now stopping more bills and stuff from passing. Because now they are elected just like the MP's... -
My Goodness, the world hasn't come to an end!
uOttawaMan replied to JMH's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
OMG! When I woke up the day after the election.. the sun hadn't risen!! I was like OH NOES. Then I realised my room had no windows. -
Mike Harris did nothing wrong.
uOttawaMan replied to Big Blue Machine's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Don't you worry , I'll post lots of paritsan leftist remarks, to upset all the righties. In this case, I was trying for a little humour, ahh alas.. seems I've stumbled onto one of those forums that is all pseudo-serious.. -
Is everyone so racist in the US?
uOttawaMan replied to baden's topic in Canada / United States Relations
It's because they got tricked into going to the US instead of Canada. So they spend the rest of their lives trying to get into Canada, but have no luck. Thats CLEARLY the reason. kthnx -
The Globe and mail right or left wing?

I think Ed Broadbent should run for the leadership of the Liberal party. -
First scuffle of Harper Government?
uOttawaMan replied to Madman's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Hey I consider myself to be a lefty ( i support my NDP ) but I'm still appreciative of the fact Steven Harper wants to stick to his guns (artic sovreignty is part of his platform) Whether or not anything happens up there is highly debatable, but hey , good work for showing some balls Harper. The real question here is if this is the right battle to fight. Do you want Artic sovreignty, or do you want trade disputes resolved? The US is not known for backing down on many issues, so Mr.Harper will have to pick his spots. -
uOttawaman, You're back... I have a quick question about Ottawa that I wanted to ask you but you haven't been awhile... Does the law school offer civil law degrees like McGill and U of T or not??? BTW: Sens are going down tonight (I hope... ) Yep we sure do offer Civil Law degrees! Lol at the Sens game, I hope my Sens win, but i won't be mad if they don't . I like the Habs too. But haha... I was at the Sens vs Leafs game on monday, nothing better than seeing a bunch of yelling whining leafs fans suddenly get all sad.

Mike Harris did nothing wrong.

Harris was nothing more than a control freak douchebag. Hopefully he will fall down into a sewer and never be heard from again. What.. he hasnt been heard from ? OK good. -
The Globe and mail right or left wing?
uOttawaMan replied to compaq905's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
They are CanWest too. Janet Bagnall rambles on about feminism in her "hear-me-I-am-left-of-the-NDP" pieces. Yea, but I read the Citizen often, and definetly seem left leaning, not right leaning as some suggested CanWest tends to be. And Janet Bagnall is beyond left of the Greens, she's wayy beyond NDP which seems to be trying to become the "Liberal Democratic Party" of Canada.. hmm.. thats catchy, hey, lets unite the left. That will work I swearrr. -
Hefty pensions ease Grit fall
uOttawaMan replied to justcrowing's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Aww how cute.. and poetic. And cynical. Meh, only reason people are complaining is because they cant make that kind of pension. -

Read the Ottawa Citizen today on the train home. Tends to sit centre-left me thinks. -
This is why you should have voted NDP...

Read the Globe and Mail , National Post much? "Right leaning" to the max.

You think I'm a liberal? lololol I'm saying, the media should at least be trying to remain objective. And before you start flaming and insulting me in true convincing fashion, I wasn't following politics at that time, I am fairly young.
-
I totally agree... Martin's press conference today wasn't questioning by a bunch of reporters.. it was like an attack session during Question period in the house. I know reporters have to sell papers, but come on, at least pretend to be being objective.
-
Yeah I was totally just throwing that out there to get flamed. Although I do want the NDP to make seat gains this time around, I'm not foolish enough to think they'll be even the official oppostion any time in the near future... unless the Liberals unleash like an even bigger faux pas, such as something ala Kanye West, " Stephen Harper, doesn't care about black people."

Divine Communication Or Mental Disorder
uOttawaMan replied to Hasan Ali Tokuqin's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
Well hey, George Bush is so amazing that God talks to him and tells him what to do. Oh its true. -
It's all just bs for the apathetic, uninterested masses, who don't try to learn about the issues, who just listen to their TV. Just put whatever you have to on the TV to get them all to vote for you and you win.

Canadians bashing Canadians
uOttawaMan replied to rhumbline's topic in Canada / United States Relations
What we all have to remember here.. is that anti-Americanism is all that's keeping this great country together. -

He could also have been mugged by the legions of pissed off people in Ontario. It could have happened.
