My sentiments exactly. I'm glad you used the word "generally." I don't always follow the Liberal line, and I will criticize especially when I see an injustice. I didn't like Martin's "apology" re the sponsorship scandal and I said so on this forum. I also agree with you. The libs desperately need to work on their leadership. Martin's funny as hell. Bush may talk like a guy with no more than a 6th grade education, but I still watching Martin and his shaking bulldog jowels. Whenever he gets going on a rant and starts shaking his head, like he did during the one toward Duceppe in the first debate his jowels shake like a bulldog. Watch him. He looks like a cartoon character. Update on Bush. Remember 9/11 when Bush didn't get to finish reading Curious George to the Kindergarten class? Seems he'll get to see the ending now as, at his request, they've made the book a movie. LOL! What's even funnier (and kinda sad) is if you look at his before and after sponsorship scandal/PM term. Those jowels were full when he took office, at the end of his campaign he looked like he had been battling an illness for a long time. He lost alot of weight. And it wasnt from exercise ill tell you.. -
Does that include laughing at yourself? Over this tasty little morsel. Indeed it does good sir, indeed it does. I laugh at myself all the time. Can you blame me?

HAHA you hypocryte, wernt you the one that was bitching at me that the NDP should stay where they are and never to bring up osmthing like that again. check it out people: http://www.mapleleafweb.com/forums/index.p...pic=5073&st=135 WOW! That was the whole point.. you are an amazing detective! I prob lost my advantage in the application process now because of talent like you against me... damn.

Ahhh, I'll repeat what I said in the post that got you so angry. See I wasn't just attacking you personally. Maybe if you had read past the first two lines of my post before throwing your little tantrum... Lol at people flexing their e-muscles.

Lol.... and what makes them "tough" ? The crimes they committed, or their resistance to re-habilitative measures? What? Because if you start concentrating on strict retributivism, your gonna have a helluva lot of tough criminals, just waiting to get out of prison, the exact same way they went in. You are so right, they shouldn't call it jail, is should be called the univercity of crime. They come out with letters behind their name and good training. So what do you purpose?? Personally I think hard-labour, Gulag style. Not many people re-offended after that, 16 hours a day of hard forced labour. Keep them barely alive, in brutal conditions, then for the last month recondition them for society. They won't want to come back. (For violent criminals) I've also heard suggestions of military style prisions, where you have to earn your time. If you mouth off or cause trouble, that day doesn't count towards your sentance. Until your compliant with societies norms and accepted values, you stay there. Three strikes your out also works. Three violent offenses and you never leave. Pretty good effect in my opinion. Only acceptable one of the three. The military one is feasable, but there is too much room for manipulation by correctional officials.

With two parties however, there is no real choice. Without question, I hold both left and right values. I value social programs like healthcare and social support, but I also believe in a strong military and an economy with little government interference. The problem with two parties is, you like some but not all of the platform policies of your chosen party. Yes yes, I realise this is present in our 4-5 party federal system, but there is no other option in the US. Either you vote Democrat or Republican, and you end up with the same policies, but with different twists, because both party's are governing to the massive scope of views under their base.

Sounds like my story, except that I have joined the blue tide. I am even currently thinking about the law enforcement path too, just I don't think I'll ever get into the areas I'd like so I'm probably scapping that plan (how many people can they possibly have in economic crime??), wouldn't want to be stuck as a street cop forever... You'll be a conservative soon enough moving out here and being a police officer (RCMP I'm assuming?)... It's all about wherever I can get in. Lots of local police forces doing lots of hiring in the next 5 years, so after I get out of schoo next year, I'll be officially in the applicant pool. Calgary is definetly hiring, so is Ottawa(lol where i am..), Peel, OPP.. just about everywhere. I'd rather not go the RCMP route if possible.
-
Well I'm from an Roman Cathloic Upper-Middle class family, in a staunchly Conservative riding.. and yet I have different views. Simply because I join the blue tide (of police) , does not mean I'll join the other blue tide.

Where were you in the NDP thread ? uOttawaMan (I think) doesn't really want to get rid of the CPC, he just started this thread to show you and others that eliminating parties whether you agree or disagree with their policies, is just plain stupid. It's just a reverse of the NDP thread. Look at the American system, the only difference between the the Democrats and Republicans is that one has the power and the other one doesn't. We can't always have political parties trying to appeal to everyone. When that happens, they lose sight of the end goal which is to better our country and it's citizens. We end up arguing over little things(watch CNN for 10mins to see what I mean) that have no effect on anyone's lives and the voice of a large portion of the population gets lost. We need to keep questioning our society's values and the "status quo"; how else will we evolve if we just accept what is given to us. my two cents... OMG DING DING WE HAVE A WINNER

Nice metaphor.

They'd have to clean up the debt and live in rural Alberta and Saguenay for a year before even thinking about a majority... Lol I don't care.. I'm prob gonna move to Alberta for employment in the police sector anyway.. lol. Might as well get Lib dollars out of it.. hahaha

I think that's the dumbest thing I ever heard. Stop telling people who they should be allowed to vote for. If they want to vote for the Marxist-Leninist Party, they damn well have the right to, if they want to vote for the CPC , they have the right to. This is Canada, not the US. Two party systems are fricking awful. Never bring forth that idea again. Since you like keeping your voting rights how about leting me keep mine FREE SPEECH. If I think we shoud change our voting system to the United States thats my right to think so not yours. Oh yes i do support CPC! I just happan to think its a good idea, considering the NDP will never gain power . Whats this marxist lenist part? I know who they are but these guys most municipalaities cant even vote for them because they are not an official part nor do they have a single seat its a dead cause like the mariwana and the green party, alhtough greens were close By the way ottawa ive read through your posts, your oppinion arnt welcome here! the people just find you annoying! That doesn't even make sense.. we should get rid of a party because it will never "gain power"... think up a concrete reason and get back to me. I'm just as welcome here as you are, so you can stick it in your eye. You're right uOttawaman about the NDP...it should exist, of course. However I am glad you realize that the NDP will never gain power and, by effect, is about as notable as the Green Party except in minority gov't circumstances. Of course I know that, my whole point is that saying we should get rid of political parties because they aren't "big" enough is just asking for one big mono-party state. I know it sounds like fear mongering, but when you start abolishing parts of democracy where does it end?

Any liberals in here could do the job. After the beating they take from the Cons on the forum, the least they could do is get paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for it..
-
Name one. Well apparently I'm an asshat for one, but I can deal with that. And then, apparently now its a crime to disagree with tax cuts, when money could be spent elswhere. Put those together and what do you get? An apparently valid reason to get rid of a non-violent political party. GG logic.
-
Let's get rid of the Liberals too, because some people don't like them.
-
Oh nothing. Since people want to get rid of the NDP, figured another stance should be taken saying the same thing. Let's just get rid of random parties. Why not.
-
I agree with much of what you are saying, however I am a tad confused at this: "When it comes to people who are in authority over others and if they break the law" I assume you mean they are comitting crimes against the people they have authority over? Otherwise I don't think being in a position of authority changes the effect the law should have on you. Just like being poor doesn't mean the effect of law should change for you.
-
You people are blinded by Stephen Harper's "Stand up for Canada". So let's get the CPC eliminated , because that superficial statement is all I need around here to make an arguement worthy.

WoW you're all real intellectual badasses. "I can post my radical ideas here, eliminating political parties and such, but when somone disagrees with us, lets gang up on him!" I think I'm gonna start a new thread.
-
I never said the justice system was fair AND equal. My point is, you can have judges interpret the law, weigh mitigating and aggravating factors, and attempting to pass a fair judgement. Thats the fair way. Or you can impose mandatory sentences and the judge just looks on his "punishment" table and finds the amount of jail time the crime deserves, regardless of what factors surround the crime. That means the first time offender and someone who commits a crime with violence get the same sentence. That's the equal way. There is no possible way for both to exist in the same system to the appeasement of everyone.
-
Ahh there is a difference between expressing your views, such as campaigning and advertising, and taking away choices for people to vote for simply because you find it "annoying".

See welcome to the modern world. I've grown up being used to e-ego's and e-fights. The simple fact is, neither one of you can do jack shit, because it's an online forum. All it is , is a platform for people to spout there own ideas and partisan rhetoric. I do, Shoop does it, You do it, we all do it. So trust me, just stopping taking stuff personally and learn to rofl and give back the e-smack to others.
