  1. CBC has to keep quiet since they were told by security experts that it was her best hope. If CBC ignored the experts' advice and gone public and caused the death or further endangered the hostage, yes it may have caused Tory defeat....but just imagine how it would've been for CBC. Heads would roll! Harper need not thank the CBC. CBC was just protecting its own neck.
  2. But then, "whites" were never considered a minority in the USA. And "whites" were never slaves in the USA. Don't get me wrong, I am not pointing fingers of blame on the white folks. That was the past...and besides, African Blacks were not totally blameless on the slave -trade practice. Obama may not harbor such kinship, but the black people do - most especially the African-Americans. I am just understanding how it must feel, for had it been a Filipino who won and became president, I think I'd feel the same way....saying that he's an Asian would not be enough. I don't know how to explain it plainly. The election was won purely on race. There's no denying that.
  3. Yes, he is a mulatto. Mixed white-black is usually described as that. I guess the description - African-American - is just being specific. After all, if I'm not mistaken his father was from Africa? Some blacks do not appreciate being mistaken with blacks coming from other countries. I know of a black who felt indignant about being mistaken for a Jamaican. I personally do not think referring to a black person as "black" is a bad thing. But I think AFRICAN-AMERICANS have more to be proud of than other blacks from other countires....since one of them made it to the top! Lumping them all as one in this historical moment of victory somehow feels taking away something from African-Americans.
  4. The result of the election shows not that wide a gap between McCain and Obama. But all that is water under the bridge now. Although a high number of citizens wanted McCain, Obama is president. Some are saying "someone will try to assasinate him." We saw that possibility in that foiled attempt on his life by a skinhead. IF Obama is assasinated, I fear that the USA will have a nation-wide civil unrest. It might even trigger some sort of a civil war. IS that far-fetched? With the economy down and the USA struggling right now, enemies of the USA might use this moment to throw America into chaos. It's plausible that terrorists may target the presidential family and blame it on those who don't favor Obama. Is that far-fetched?
  5. For Myata and all those who opposes the NATO presence in Afghanistan.... Would you like all NATO troops to leave Afghanistan right now?
  6. I am happy to see an African-American make it to becoming the President of the USA. But at the same time, I'm not happy to see Barack Obama becoming the President of the USA. It has nothing to do with his color. I just feel he is not what he's trying to portray he is. I hope I am wrong.
  7. Obama giving his victory speech mentions about choosing a dog to take to the White House. He considers getting one from the shelter, but of course "a lot of those dogs are mutts, like me." The word "mutts" have been used by racists in describing offsprings of mixed races. Was that a glimpse of resentment by Obama? Directed towards the white folks? I find it odd that he used that word to describe himself in what could've been just a simple statement that's meant to evoke warmth. It brings up the ugly head of racism. Of course racism still exists, I'm not denying that.....but it was not the right time to bring it up imho. Especially by someone who's been accused of associating among radicals with very anti-white sentiments. Unifying the nation - wasn't that supposed to be one of the main priorities?
  8. She's a maverick! She's being herself.
  9. It is quite appropriate for him to remind us about his heroic deeds, after all he is applying for a job. When you go for job interviews....don't you make sure to focus on the skills that will be most useful to your future employer? So yes, why should he be ashamed to mention that? After all the US is still at war! There is no shame is spelling out his skills and his loyalty to his country....especially his loyalty which was proven by the previous war, after all he is applying for the position of Commander In Chief and President.
  10. There's a lesson in this: don't get caught by the enemy! As I've said before he's lucky to be alive. This episode about Khadr and the reactions of people like you will most likely drive soldiers to resort to a practical solution to avoid anymore such outrage in the future: No prisoners - especially when it comes to child soldiers.
  11. "Martin has said the money could go to pay for a tax cut, improved health care, debt reduction or to help Canada through international economic turmoil." http://www.cbc.ca/news/story/1998/10/06/ei981006a.html So, what's he on about now? When we're actually threatened with the most serious economic turmoil in history!
  12. Are you saying they should've just killed him? Irrelevant! We're not talking about how the war started. We're talking about the soldiers who are at war. They don't analyze how the war started....they follow orders! I bet both sides are saying exactly the same thing!
  13. Perhaps Paul Martin would care to explain where the money from the gutted EI went?
  14. But there is indeed a BIG DIFFERENCE between McCain's and Kerry's war wounds, isn't there? I'm not going to speculate since I was not there to witness it first hand....and I don't think you were there too. I'd take what their own peers has to say about it. Kerry's peers, if I'm not mistaken, has something quite unflattering accounts about him (in fact that's where the mocking began)....whereas McCain's peers definitely look up to him as a hero. It's one thing to "play up" war wounds in an attempt to depict one's self as a hero and it's quite another to simply state facts about one's heroic efforts.
  15. And the incredible thing is that Omar Khadr still lives after killing an American soldier in battle. He should be grateful he's given a chance to fight his way in court. How hard can it be to have just killed him outright right there and then in that battlefield? It would've been justifiable. I think his age played an important role, not to mention the tremendous self-discipline of the other soldiers in upholding their values. Discovering this cub, the adults chosed to retract their claws. For that I think credit should be given to the victim's comrades who must've exerted such great restraint not to go tit-for-tat!
  16. Whether Saddam has the WMD or not is not the point. The fact is the USA is at war. Omar Khadr killed an American soldier.
  17. But he managed to have a scoop on Ray Heard saying this in his show, didn't he? Anyway, my point is not Mike Duffy. It's the Liberal Party!
  18. How many sons by the Khadrs had been indoctrinated? Omar being the youngest, was the last one, if Im not mistaken. True he was not strapped with bombs. Because of having been caught, no one will know now if eventually he would've ended up being a suicide bomber. But chances are, he could've. You are so focused on age that you've lost track that I am speaking about the indoctrination/brainwashing of these children that makes them devoid of any compassion. What is this nonsense that simply because of his age, you're only so willing to expose everyone to danger! That's why I said those who are caught like Omar will need psychological help! They pose a threat to the public.
  19. His big spendings on social programs are definitely leftist.
  20. This article is a must-read for all Americans. America’s first far-left radical President? Daily Mail, 13 October 2008 re-copied article deleted by moderator http://www.melaniephillips.com/articles-new/?p=618
  21. A child packed with bombs explodes himself in a marketplace to kill one or two percieved "guilty people." In that process, how many inoocents got blown away or maimed for life just to get these two supposedly guilty ones? It only proves what I'm saying - the child had been programmed to focus on the two supposedly guilty with total disregards for the others that he kills along in the process. In other words, this child had become a killing machine! And I wholeheartedly agree. IF Khadr does indeed fall under the category of a child soldier, as you claim he is, shouldn't you be venting your outrage at the PARENTS of these children who let this happen in the first place? Shouldn't we be questioning how MRS KHADR had stood by while Khadr Jr is being abused by Daddy? And what was BIG SISTER doing all that time? No, it usually begins from childhood experiences. Their upbringing. And usually in the movies, it's because of Daddy....or Mommy!
  22. Didn't you say these kids are abused - having been indoctrinated/brainwashed without their full understanding due to their age? Well obviously that's the difference between Army Guy and these kids! Furthermore, Army Guy was not indoctrinated to kill INNOCENT PEOPLE - which maybe just about anyone, from all walks of life, gender and age. These kids were brainwashed by zealots, which already say a lot! These children were "programmed" to be without any feelings of compassion - so yes, they are psychos!
  23. Here's the video that features McCallum, Orchard and Ledrew on Mike Duffy Live yesterday. It takes quite a while to play.... http://watch.ctv.ca/news/mike-duffy-live/#clip104858
  24. The Liberal Party under Dion made the mistake of moving more to the left. The Conservative Party is now the right-center party, and Harper wants it that way.
