  1. How about: "The LeftWing Party?" Might as well. Lumped together as one.
  2. Liberal MP Karygiannis, who was furious over the tape and was demanding for Dion to step down, said that Dion was reading from the computer on that tape. CTV was lucky to have gotten the neck and parts of his shoulders showing. Apparently other station only got mostly his head.
  3. I was on CTV Newsnet. It was Graham Richardson who mentioned that the NDP and Layton were furious for Dion "made them look like fools." The accidental meeting of Diuceppe and Dion in the elevator was also brought up where-in Diuceppe asked Dion, "what was that all about?" And Dion's answer was: "we're not used to being the Opposition." For coverage on political events I find CTV Newsnet really delivers. They seem to have the scoops ahead of the other stations.
  4. That speech of Dion after the GG granted the prorogue might be evidence that this is not about the lack of economic plans....but rather because of Harper. Dion attacked Harper by saying it's part of "his DNA," and it sounded really of personal nature. I think an expert said that if the issue is about inability to get along together, then an election might be called.
  5. I'm not sure but....wasn't Bob Rae involved in a Coalition before? If yes, what happened to that coalition?
  6. But CTV, particularly Graham Richardson pointed out that it's these small details that gives it away. The competence of Dion was openly questioned on air. Reactions of the NDP and Diuceppe were openly described on air. CTV made good and used that dead-air fast! Just the fact that they were waiting for the late tape was NEWS!
  7. The media may have deliberately chosen what picture they want to put in their papers. Angles of cameras in a crowded room would of course have some showing the Flag on the side. But the point is why was no flag on the center behind the three amigos? Aren't they supposed to be representing Canada as a united party? You'd think the Liberals and NDP would understand the controversy about getting propped up by the a separatist party and would try to allay concern. The Liberals and the NDP were not thinking (which does not bode well for us all if they will be so incompetent enough to overlook this detail). From this to Dion's video to a very generalized way of stating their economic plan (which was nothing more than a re-hash of their election campaign promises, nothing detailed)...this Coalition is ill-prepared.
  8. This particular coalition in this current economic situation is the worst thing that can happen to the country. 1. Having the Bloc have a veto on every vote is like having a gun pointed on the heads of the Liberal and the NDP. The Bloc can threaten to pull out of the Coalition anytime by simply citing it is not to the best interest of Quebec. It was stated by an expert on TV that the document signed by the three is not legally binding. 2. Their votes will never primarily be for the good of Canada. It will be about what's good for the Coalition to survive. Deals and more backroom deals. I shudder to think of the massive spendings when concessions are made to have each and every party involved in this Coalition happy. They have a free reign. They got our wallet. 3. Being united together as one will be impossible for all three. Right now, yes they are showing their unity....they have to, if they want to succeed in grabbing that power. As we speak, there are already cracks showing. We already know that some Liberals are either against the Coalition, or against Dion leading the Coalition, or both. According to James Moore in Vancouver, the NDP in Vancouver is also showing signs of splintering. 4. In the meantime, the Liberals will be busy with their leadership race. The focus will be on this race, not the economy. 5. And if and when Dion steps down and a new leader comes in....we go to another transition. By this time, the Coalition will most probably be at each other's throat anyway. 6. At the first golden opportunity, Diuceppe will be saying to Quebecers: "See? This is why we do not like to deal with Federalists! We're better off on our own!" This is not an assumption. I'm betting it as a surety. If it manages to grab power, I'm giving the Coalition 6 months before everything really falls apart and all the things I've stated above happen. Hold on tight. We're in for a very, very rough ride.
  9. It'll be hard for him to distance himself from it, after all only a few days ago, he was patting himself on the back for being one of the architects of this Coalition. He was very angry last night. I had never seen him on tv that way before. Clearly he's also fighting for his political survival.
  10. Smear? One thing I'm so impressed about the leftists parties are their remarkable way of twisting context and re-definition of words. Calling a liar a liar is not smearing. That is a statement of fact. The Liberals and the NDP had gone to bed with the Separatist. That is a fact. The Bloc is in Parliament solely for the good of a sovereign Quebec. The Bloc propped the Coalition solely for the good of a soverign Quebec. That is a fact. Diuceppe himself had made that perfectly clear after the signing of the Coalition. Funny, the promises of Dion seem to have been taken out from the nation address of Harper. The onus is on the Coalition to show that they have a more detailed economic plan than the update-budget speech of Harper, since they are trying to justify this power-grab from the lack of anything solid from that budget speech. Dion's promises gave nothing solid either. Frankly speaking, the word "bully" which has been over-used by the Opposition sound too childish (for lack of a better word) a word to be bandied about by a leader of a nation. The word is too "soft" and is a downplay of what's really happening here. This is no mere bullying. "POWER-GRAB AT ALL COST!" That's what's really at play here! It has nothing to do with the economy. The people are not as dumb as what the Coalition assume. The people clearly see through all the BS being thrown about by the Coalition. According to the polls and the public outrage, that is a fact! According to the latest Ipsos-Reid, only 4 in 10 Canadians support the Coalition. Last night Duffy relased an Ipsos Reid that stated 64% approved of the Governor General's decision to prorogue.
  11. Well, well...aren't you a clever little guy. If it's about the economy or the law or bully politics, then it obviously can't be about the incompetence of the wanna-be prime minister. One thing at a time, lest you lose focus.
  12. That pathetic amateurish piece of slop that Prime Minister-in-waiting had thrown in the face of a worried nation surely speaks so loud and clear as to what awaits us should Canada be led by such a leader. The media were tittering and mocking last night. Some of them felt indignation as to how Dion could've presented such an address to the nation. After all, this comes from the leader who says he is ready to lead this nation in this time of turmoil. Well, how ready are they to save our economy? That tape was late in getting delivered. I was watching on CTV Newsnet and they were trying to fill up the dead air with replay of Harper's speech. And when at last it arrived, it showed that Dion wasn't even ready to prepare a dignified address to the nation, at the very least. One media said "it looked like it was taken from a cellphone." One said "a highschool student could've done better." According to Graham Richardson, the NDP and Layton, who were standing nearby waiting for Layton's turn were angry at the tape of Dion for it made them all look like fools. Really. No kidding. And apparently Diuceppe met Dion at the elevator and he asked: "What was that all about? What happened there?" Dion answered: "We are not used to being the Opposition." I don't know about you but to me, that was the height of arrogance. Here is the man who is poised to grab power from the government elected by the people, who is supposed to explain to the nation why the election results will not be honored, and convince the nation that the Coalition led by him is the best option for Canada in this economic uncertainty. And he gave us that??? I guess he seem to know that the ousting of Harper is inevitable, and he will be the Prime Minister whether we like it or not. So it was a sloppy address to the nation from the future Prime Minister. So what? That was a spit on the face of the nation! This Coalition is not ready! When pointedly asked when is he going to present the detailed economic plans of the Coalition, he gave an evasive answer, "we are working on it." This is going to be like his Green Shift Plan - a work in progress. Making it up as they go along. Anyway, the promises he gave last night was no different than the budget update of Harper that they were so critical about. And this promise and pledge comes from the man who just made a promise 7 weeks ago that there will be no Coalition bteween the NDP and Liberals. The same man who was supposed to be fighting for the unity of Canada and now in bed with the Separatist. Dion has nothing to lose. He is on the way out anyway....so he takes what he can! What about the brilliant Layton and Diuceppe? The COALITION OF FOOLS! What an apt title, preceded by "The Coalition of the Willing." Layton and Diuceppe, in their "sound" judgement, endorsed and upheld Dion to be the best man to lead the Coalition. I guess this is them telling us that we, voters, were all wrong in not choosing Dion in the last election. Layton and Diuceppe has so much confidence in the competence and leadership of Dion that they are willing to bring down the people-elected government and ignore their own grassroot supporters and values. I pray for an election. Whatever befalls us....let it be the decision of the people. Should the current government fall, my only consolation is that the Coalition of Fools will not survive for long. There is tension and bickering among them now as we speak....the NDP and Diuceppe did not even bother to hide their distatse about Dion's tape from reporters last night. It will cost us valuable time....and money, what with all the concessions and backroom deals among the three of them....and this may cripple the nation for many generations to come. It may even be the end of Canada as we know it. So be it. This was formerly the Opening Post of a thread entitled "We are not used to being the Opposition." It has been merged into this previous post on the same topic.
  13. You should see the anger in the faces of the talk radio hosts yesterday on MDuffy! They say that this is HUGE! And that it is REAL!
  14. The three coalition parties differ drastically in their ideology. With all three of them trying to make concessions with one another....specially with the Separatist Party that's propping them up....surely, any decisions they'll make will never center around the best interest of Canada.
  15. If it was only a coalition between the Liberals and NDP, the uproar would not have been so great I think. But having a seperatist Party prop up this coalition is an unprecedented move. Diuceppe had stated yesterday that he did this for the interest of a sovereign Quebec. "The Bloc has the other two parties by their balls," that's the statement of two journalists on TV (Greg Weston and Joel Bellevance). Bellevance said that $800 million dollars in total had already been promised to Diuceppe (first and second budget), being one of his demands. Parizeau is getting into this bed as well....a Quebec newspaper will have this article today. That, plus the economic crisis we're in. I agree with you that now is not the time to get rid of enemies. Personal feelings should be set aside. That's why the parties should let the government bring out its budget in January. Hear the budget first. The way the coalition had played out suggests the two federal parties (Liberal and NDP) are driven by self-interest. To the point of selling out the rest of Canada to the Separatist. Their own credibility and integrity is now being questioned. How can a coalition that has sown the distrust of half the population (if not majority) govern efficiently in this time of crisis....most especially when the people are seeking to be led and reassured in the coming time of hardships? To put the people at rest, and since Dion had dramatically gone back on his election promise that there would be no coalition.....then they should all agree to let the people decide. $300 million is nothing when it comes to the future of this country. I want an election! Let the people decide!
  16. Elizabeth May will be one....according to Prime Minister Dion.
  17. The experts are all warning about the backlash of the people. And some politicians are trying to play it safe. Ignatieff had intimated to Duffy that he was not really in favor of this coalition. That he "mas moosetrapped into it." Greg Westen scoffed at that and said: I saw Ignatieff after the signing with a big smile on his face.
  18. There is no solid reason to do this since we really did not hear the budget speech yet. Furthermore, Layton had been plotting this move right after the election. This was premeditated. The result of the election will be tossed out no matter what! So yes, this is a coup! Hiding behind that constitution.
  19. Now is not the time to dabble on the unknown just to satisfy your curiousity. The economy is at stake! What I would love to see is what deal the traitors had given to the Bloc just so they can grab power and ignore the election results. $300 million is peanuts. That's just a crumb falling off the breakfast table. Let's not be such cheapskate when the future of our country is at stake. One thing for sure, we need GOVERNMENT STABILITY! It is highly questionable that the coalition will have that stability since they are all practically against one another. Therefore, with all the concessions that would go on between all three of them....you bet the decisions will never center around the best interest of Canada. Then there's the leadership race of the Liberals, and the highly possible turmoil that they are having inside their party....that will add to the current crisis. After 5 months we will go into another transition again???? Nah! Having this coalition sitting in power is the worst possible scenarion for us all! Sit back and take off your partisan hats and think about this: Your leader did not enter into this backroom deal for your good or the country's sake. One thing I must say that Dion is having a great experience with: BACKROOM DEALS!
  20. Boy, 75% of people did not vote for Dion....and here he is, poised to be the Prime Minister! 6 WEEKS after the last election, where -in he promised there'll be no alliance with the NDP! Not only did they form a cozy coalition together and like a loot, divided up seats in Canadian Parliament, but also sold out Canada to the Separatist! On top of that, Dion is bringing up Elizabeth May - who soundly lost in the election - to have a possible seat in the Senate or in a Cabinet post. Like a shark, Elizabeth did not lose any time giving press conference and prepared to take on her share of the loot! Only in a banana republic! If this coalition goes through...I'll be another Canadian so disillusioned with our politics.
  21. Coalitions may have existed before but never such as this one where-in: The federalist parties had practically sold out Canada to a Separatist party just to grab on to power in the pretext of fighting for the economy. Only 6 weeks after a federal election that saw the sitting government given a STRONGER mandate by the people of Canada. AT THE TIME WHEN WE ARE FACING A FINANCIAL CRISIS. We need government stability more than ever right now because of this crisis.
  22. After the interview of Justin Trudeau, a Liberal backbencher (sorry did not get his name) who apparently worked with Pierre Trudeau has said on Mike Duffy: "After hearing Justin describe the Bloc as a "progressive party". I am sure that his father is rolling in his grave." This backbencher said that just before he went on the show with Duffy he called 7 other Liberal backbenchers (who wish to remain un-identified). Out of those 7, 6 were totally against and disgusted with the Coalition, and one was sort of neutral. This man said: Canada comes first. The party only comes second. Is there possibility of floor crossings? Those who seriously consider having a good political career should consider standing up for Canada now on the ground of VALUES and PRINCIPLES! If I am a Liberal MP, now is the time to stand out in history! Break ranks for the sake of Canada. The talk show radio hosts from Calgary, Toronto and Vancouver are flooded with angry callers. They all said that this is the first time they ever got this so many angry callers. And they say that these are real people....not partisan hacks! They all say that "this coalition could still be killed!"
  23. How many percentage of voters voted for Dion? How many percentage of voters voted for Layton? How many percentage of voters voted for Diuceppe? HAD THE PEOPLE KNOW THAT THE LIBERALS AND THE NDP WILL GO TO BED WITH THE BLOC, HOW MANY PERCENTAGE OF VOTERS DO YOU THINK THE THREE STOOGES WOULD HAVE GAINED? In the past election, Dion had to specifically reassure Canadians that there would be no coalition with the NDP. Now, not only did he break that promise 6 WEEKS after he made that promise, he also sold out the Liberal values and threw his own in the garbage - just for this power grab! Huh, the lure of seating as Prime Minister is too much of a glitter to resist....even for this so-called "hero" of united Canada! If the two traitors (Liberal and NDP) are sincerely thinking of the people of Canada....they will gladly bring this problem to the people! Having had an election and spending another 300 million dollars for the election is peanuts compared to the scale of this event. No federlaist party had ever gone and given power to the Separatists EVER IN CANADIAN HISTORY! This alone is powerful reason why this should be brought before the people. What more with the economic crisis that we are about to face! Diuceppe did not prop up the two traitors for nothing! A reporter from Quebec had revealed on CPAC that Diuceppe demanded $400 million for Quebec in the first budget, and another $400 in the second. Layton and Dion had already agreed to that! The only one being honest about this Coalition is Diuceppe! He had made it plainly clear that he's doing this for the interest of Quebec. A sovereign Quebec! This situation is unprecedented. I am scared for our economy! For Canada! This is a coup. All that is lacking is military might. I want another election! Let the people decide! I want another election! Let the people decide!
  24. Here are the facts of the last election: 1. The Conservative Party was given more seats than they had before. 2. The Conservatives has more seats compared to any of the other party. 3. Majority of Canadians had voted for the Conservatives! 4. The Liberals had the worst turn out....largely because of Dion. A lot of Liberals had opted not to vote. Now with the coalition, not only does these three conniving political parties ignore their own consitituents' values....but we end up with Dion to boot? This is a coup! The governor general should call an election over this! All the more so becuase of the current economic crisis. The people has to have a say in this. Or at least she should tell the conniving parties to wait until they hear the budget! I, as a voting Canadian would like to hear what the current government has to say about the budget. After spending millions in the past election, the government and the political parties owe it to the people to at least let them hear what the proposed budget is going to be.
