Once again, she was only reporting on another story by MSNBC, which was corroborated. Just because he has a public story that he wants to spend more time with his family doesn't mean there aren't people behind the scenes willing to leak the real reasons.

You'd think the media will be talking non-stop about him - that there'll be at least weekly update on what's happening to this case.  And yet, silence.

He will be in court tomorrow, so I expect you will see some news then. The police investigation is still on-going. It is rumored that the police are not yet ready to lay additional charges, but reserve that right in the future. The defense has yet to say if they will go with the court ordered psychiatric assessment or will request one of their own, they are still awaiting disclosure of evidence. I expect those will be the topics discussed, but we will have to wait and see.

There have been some stories in the French media, but I haven't see much in the English media yet.
