  1. Russians admitting that they have made a mistake or would have been wrong? Dream on. There are plenty of other things Russians have not apologized for or have admitted having done wrong. For example, Russia Still insists that they never invaded the Baltic countries but they voluntarily joined the Soviet Union.
  2. A lot of Canadians and Swedes among the passengers. Looking at the list of the passengers names it is a bit difficult to say who were Canadians and who were Swedes.
  3. Makes you think that if the Iranian anti-aircraft is at that level that they can't tell a civilian plane from a military one what would happen if real fighter jets attacked them.
  4. I'm sure they have had a very interesting conversation at the Iranian military-hq once they realised that they had made a serious mistake.
  5. The plane had gone through maintenance only two days before. The Ukrainians insist there was no technical fault in the plane.
  6. Of course whoever happens to be the US President at any given time he represents the US politics, a kind of personifcation of it, but it would be foolish to think that especially concerning military operations the President would alone make the decisions. Of course he is a rubber-stamp whose approval is needed but he doesn't come up with the ideas. Do you think starting a war against Iraq was George W Bush's original idea? Me neither. Or can you imagine a scenario whereby a President would come up with a totally unworkable idea of a military operation and his generals would tell him "Mr. President, that's a very bad idea and we strongly advice you against it" but they would have to obey since the President is the boss after all?
  7. I wonder is it even possible to have a no Israel first-President. I guess in theory yes but in practice, not a chance.
  8. The blind hatred towards Trump is really somehow ununderstandable since he is really no exception to any of his predecessors. An Israel first-President. One of his promises in the election in 2016, apart from the Mexican wall, was to pull America out of these pointless foreign wars.
  9. There have been predictions of a secular revolution happening in Iran. The ajatollahs would be thrown out. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for that to happen though.
  10. Every president needs to show he is a tough guy but Trump got elected on the promise of getting out of the pointless foreign wars. You can't really blame the tin foil-hats for saying that the real masters are telling the puppets what to do.
  11. People say that the missile-strike in which in an Iranian general was killed was electioneering. People who say that overestimate the knowledge of foreign policy of the average voter in the USA. Elections everywhere but in the USA in particular are fought mainly on the economic agenda. If people feel safe in economic terms and are positive about the future the incumbent wins. If they don't, the incumbent loses as happened to Carter and Bush Sr.
  12. The glue which holds the USA together is the superpower-status. Without that it would fall apart. It will go on until the end of this century but ferom then on China will take over, both economically and militarily.
  13. This is not going to go away post-Brexit. Then the remainers will become rejoiners and the leavers will become, well outstayers for a lack of a better word, but if you think this is going to be over in late January you are in for a surprise, pleasant or unpleasant depending on your pov on the issue.
  14. The remoaners dont give up. They never will. The latest straw they are clutching at is to point out that in the election 16m people voted for the remain-parties while 14m voted for the leave-parties. The electoral system just played into the hands of the leavers. This despite that the Labour-party stated before the election that it was not a Brexit-election trying to focus attention to issues such as the NHS and social issues, the strong points of Labour-campaigns. However, once the election was over all of a sudden it was a Brexit-election after all. Usually it is considered an admirable trait when you never give up. However, there is a limit to that admirability such as refusing to acknowledge a result of a democratic referendum.
  15. In Canada you have conservatives and liberals with the liberals being the left-wing option. In Australia they have liberals and the labour, sorry labor, with the liberals being the right-wing option while the labor are being hard left with open borders and climate-hysteria policies. Do you think Trudeau would be considered right-wing in Australia?
  16. It is very rarely a working strategy to abandon your core-base and become successful. People will always prefer to vote for the real thing than a cheap copy. However, if you keep on trying to win with an unelectable agenda like the Labour-party in the UK you are well-adviced to change your policies, which happened in the 1990's.
  17. People are paying so much attention to the growing amount of muslims and hence their influence in the western world that at the same time the Chinese are creeping in a stealthily way increasing their influence around the world. We all know muslims will never take over the world. They are too undeveloped for that. They will only cause maximum nuisance in the form of terrorism and creating no-go zones in western cities but further than that, no chance. A totally different thing with China.
  18. Trump isn't that different to any other Presidents; He is also an Israel first-President just like his predecessors and certainly his future successors as well.
  19. I would love to hear average Trump-haters explain in detail what this impeachment is about. I bet most of them would struggle to give a credible answer.
  20. I'm surprised this impeachment-trick hasn't been used more often as Americans don't have the European-style parliamentary confidence-votes.
  21. I think he will be thrown out. There are so many Republican hopefuls to become President next year so that they will vote against him in the Senate. On the other hand, if he doesn't get thrown out his position is even stronger and he is actually counting on that.
  22. There has been a lot of protests in London tonight over the election-result. If anyone thinks that after this election the remoaners will finally give up and shut up that person is in for a disappointment. Those people will never give up. Even if Brexit is delivered the focus then turns to rejoining and the new dividing line goes over rejoining and staying out.
  23. Labour can't win with socialism. They tried that with Michael Foot and Neil Kinnock and now twice with Jeremy Corbyn. Lost every time. Labour wins when they have a conservative with a red tie in charge. Someone like Tony Blair who more or less promised in 1997 not to change anything the Tories had done but he delivered a much-yearned change of power after 18 years of Tory-rule. The Labour-party needs to find a Tony Blair 2.0
  24. Labour wins when they have a leader like Tony Blair who was a tory with a red tie. Instead of having a marxist in charge they need to find a Tony Blair 2.0
  25. According to the exit-poll the Tories going to get 368 seats (out of 650), Labour 191. Therefore it looks like a very handsome victory for the Tories. Another thing is that how much worth do you put on an exit-poll but it has been relatively accurate over the years.
