  1. Well, Zinedine Zidane will be the top headline in evey paper tomorrow. The poor Italians win of the World Cup will take second place after the question ... why with 12 minutes to go did Zidane blow it? His exit from the game now undignified. We could all see the Italian player running behind him ... saying something. What did he say? What was the final indignity that made Zinedine just blow his top? Or use his top actually. It wasn't the monkey noises ... the Italians seem to reserve that for the black players. But I'll bet it was racial, religious ... or maybe something about his mom (the Italians have a few choice ones in that vein). Hope he spills it tomorrow. Was a shame not to see him getting the second place medal with the team.
  2. Zidane just scored. But it was not a header.
  3. -------------------------- LET THE GAME BEGIN ! ---------------------------
  4. You've got THAT right! Italy's defender, Marco Materazzi, claims that his side now have a game plan to stop Zidane in his final match as a professional. We have players that can stop Zidane, like Gattuso, Materazzi said. But when they asked Gennaro Gattuso if this is true he said: .... "You don't stop Zidane. To stop him, you need to make the sign of the cross." Who the hell does Gattuso think he is? GO ZIZOU GO!
  5. Is it true that for every barrel of oil (goo) you extract in your precious Alberta, you have to use enough natural gas to heat a family home for four days? And that you have to tear up four tons of landscape, all for one measly barrel of oil? THAT'S NUTS!! http://www.pastpeak.com/archives/peak_oil/index.htm
  6. The two goals by Bastian Schweinsteiger were magnificent. Can you believe the hook he managed to put on on that ball? Even Mark Roth would be jealous. http://www.bastianschweinsteiger.com/
  7. Mamma mia! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml...8/ixuknews.html After reading the above article this morning I rushed back to see my bookie to cancel my bet, but he refused. "Ti sta bene!" (serves you right!) he said. Che macello! (What a mess!)
  8. I remember. Just yesterday George and Laura Bush were on the Larry King show and Larry reminded George of exactly that and asked him if he still feels that way. George said that yes, that he still likes Vladimir Putin and that he has a very good relationship with him and that Mr. Putin is a great politician. Than Larry turned to Laura with the same question and she eagerly replied ... "Oh yes I like president Putin, I like him very much." Speaking about "good souls", what happened to Teddy Ballgame. Did some dog here have him banned again? Tsk tsk tsk!
  9. Today, when Bush thanked Harper for the belt buckle he brought him as a gift, Harper's answer was: "No problem at all. I figured if you're going to be 60, you should get something." He DOES have a dry, understated sense of humor, doesn't he? But I think Michael Ignatieff has got him beat by a mile in that department also. Come next election Iggy will beat him by a mile, and then some. I hope.
  10. I nodded off a bit waiting for replies to my posts here and I had a dream. In my dream I picked up my Washington Post newspaper and there, on the front page, I saw .... "Soft Spoken Muslim Hero of World Cup WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Zinedine Zidane, a soft spoken Muslim, emerged last Sunday as the hero of the World Cup soccer finals in Germany. Son of an Algerian janitor, Zidane, with a flick of his head scored the first two of the three goals which gave France victory over Italy --" Then I awoke. I'm off to see my bookie!
  11. Not me. I've been wondering about that ever since I got here.
  12. http://sport.independent.co.uk/football/co...icle1160914.ece The only thing the writer of the above article forgot to mention is that he could become new hero to billions of people. No wonder Benedict XVI is cheering for France. GO ZIZOU GO!
  13. Quite the contrary. I think he's doing a brilliant job of keeping his name in the headlines. Like my friend Oscar always says .... "There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about." What do I do, Geoffrey, what do I do?
  14. Sunday's match will be Zinédine Zidane's last game. He's packing it in. Guess what that means.
  15. That's an abdominal Canadian Cat Scan that produces 250X the radiation. I have an iron stomach and gut so I don't care. But I'm a Rene Levesque type smoker and thus have two lung Canadian CT scans a year as a precaution, and when I read in the National Post article that (and I quote): "A single chest CT scan can deliver a radiation dose roughly equivalent to 400 chest X-rays" ....... that is like having 2.2 chest X-rays a day. I'm scared.
  16. Both of the today's Canadian articles below claim (and I quote): "Some CT scans expose people to 250 times the radiation of an ordinary X-ray." http://www.canada.com/vancouversun/news/st...ee-68c9b012ac3f http://www.canada.com/nationalpost/news/st...4c-0f1db34fabf0 My question is .... is it because Canada uses older Cat Scanners, the ones that take five minutes to produce a single picture as compared to the newer ones that take only half a second to produce the same picture? I think so.
  17. Below is the exact picture that is on my bottles. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d122/bud...73/9d093023.jpg
  18. With the game between Germany and Italy about to begin I don't have time to explain why ... but after spending the last couple of weeks in and around Germany, it is safe for me to say that the Germans will go all the way. Benedict XVI is planning a huge visit there in September .... and I have a feeling that he's got his money riding on the Germans too. I brought a couple of cases of Papst-Bier back from Marktl Am Inn and contrary to the Canadian media ... his picture still IS on the bottles.
  19. Czechs have time for both, hockey and soccer. And I bet you any money that come Tuesday morning they'll be watching the game and singing .... "Nothing could be finer than one more win over Carolina, in the morning." Czechs always cheer for Canada in hockey when their national team is not playing in the series. I wish Canadians would reciprocate come Thursday morning (4pm in Hamburg] when the Czech Republic plays Italy.
  20. Yeah ... where is Geoffrey? I don't think Bush is going to interfere this time so the Oilers will be on their own. May the best team win.
  21. Don Cherry knows as well as I do that the fix was on, and he always tells it like he sees it, and he can't keep a secret. That's why, during the intermission, he brought out the highlights showing the Canes players ducking and getting out of the way of the Oilers shots on goal, wondering aloud why in hell would the team that's one of the best at blocking shots do that all of a sudden. Grapes cannot keep a secret, that's what I like about him.
  22. No need to thank me ... I'M OUTA HERE! Here's hoping that the World Cup bettors in Germany appreciate me! Auf Wiedersehen!
  23. THRICE!!! I wonder where Mr. T-bag is.
  24. The first period was scoreless. When asked what the Oilers should do in the second period Stephen's advice was to shoot more when they go for the net. And that is precisely what they are doing in this, the second period. Did they score yet, you ask? Of course they did, don't be ridiculous!
