  1. You found something on Iggy that irks you? You know, we all have some petty unimportant faults and peccadillos, but so far I haven't been able to find even one of those on Michael Ignatieff. But even if I did, people shouldn't get irked by other peoples' harmless peccadillos. We all have them. Like for instance .... Benedict XVI & I, we both enjoy our beer but did you ever see Benny getting even a little irked at Jesus' peccadillo of turning water only into wine at every opportunity, yet never into pilsner?
  2. - ROTFPIMPALMFARO!!! - I'm not sure which is funnier ... the notion of ALLCRAP "researching" Iggy or anyone or anyrthing else or, the notion that anyone with an IQ in even double digits could pick a political neophyte like Ignatieff over the former two term governor of California and two term president of the US like Reagan who is now conceeded even by liberal historians to have been the greatest of all US presidents since WWII. - The Globe and Mail's resident left wing columnist and one of my least favourite columnists today wrote one of his rare columns with which I actually agree (other than his usual lefty slant on Iraq). Here it is: Take yer lumps, Iggy RICK SALUTIN From Friday's Globe and Mail 1/ "He supported the war in Iraq" is supposed to be a negative? 2/ Sheila Copps?? Sheila Copps????? 3/ It's Rick Salutin. I rest my case. PS - And Teddy Ballpark is absolutely correct .... nobody but nobody with an IQ in the double digits will pick Ignatieff. THEM'S THE BREAKS IGGY!!!
  3. "It's very kind to be considered, but I'll be running for mayor 555 days from today,'' Calgary Mayor Dave Bronconnier said. If Preston Manning enters the race he will win. And that's a fact!!
  4. I read it ... and it WASN'T enjoyable. If it were up to you we wouldn't have had Ronald Reagan or Arnold Shwarzenegger who had lesser credentials and experience when they jumped in head first to lead 35 million people. I think that what Iggy, Ronnie and Arnie have in common is that all three men are super honest individuals, want the best for people, recognize a great idea when they see one, and have a great acting talent to sell these ideas to people. Let me ask you this .... If Ignatieff, Reagan and Schwarzenegger were all leaving their old jobs at the same time, and were applying for the job of Prime Minister or Governor who would you choose?
  5. Ha ha. Good one. However I have a friend who was a government recruiter a few decades back & had this little fable to relate too: - Hey I have a great employee you'll love. - Ok ... let's start off with his education. - Well actually he dropped out of University. - Hmm ... Well what's he doing right now? - He living with his parents & he & his buddy are working in his parent's garage. - Go on.. - Well you know that huge computer that takes up the entire second floor in this building? They say they can get it down to a few pounds & that in a few years every home in the civilized world will have one & every worker will be using one for their jobs ... right on their desk! - Sounds like a bit of a nutjob, frankly. What we're looking for is a University graduate that has joined an organization & is steadily working his way up the ranks. THAT'S a valuable employee. Forget this guy. - So I can tell Bill Gates he's not going to be hired? - You bet ... we need someone with corporate vision. Added to that my friend the scientific researcher shared this little story with me: The lab has a group of nine chimps in a cage. They start offering them bananas through the cage bars. However, every time a chimp reaches out to grab the banana they send a shock through the cage. Eventually all of the chimps no longer try reaching for a banana when it is offered. Then they introduced a new chimp into the cage & held out a banana. As soon as he reached for it, all the other chimps jumped on him & started beating him up. They didn't want the shock. One by one, they replaced every one of the original nine chimps in the cage with a new chimp. And every time they did, the chimps jumped on the new chimp if he reached for the banana, even though by the time they had replaced all of the chimps, not one of them had every received a shock for getting the banana. It's just the way thinds were done around this cage. New chimp ... jump on him. That is unfortunately the way of most people "rising through the ranks" & having "experience". Oftentimes new blood is the only way to move forward. I say "go Michael"... you're our best hope in decades.
  6. This is a great piece. I read it the day it came out here, and feeling little blue the other day I thought I'd reread it just to perk myself back up. But I had forgotten where I read it or who the author was, so I took an educated guess and headed straight to my stash of saved up Steyn articles, thinking it must be him. Needless to say, I didn't find it there. Today, going through the new posts here I got so bored that I started clicking on the old ones, and by sheer luck I found it. This definitely rates right up there with the top 25% of Mark Steyn's material and I can't even imagine why anybody would put it out here for free. My suspicion is that MLW hires professionals, from time to time, to liven this place up. If so, they've got a great one in Teddy Ballgame. It could be Mark Steyn himself for all I know.
  7. Come on down... Cast your vote ... Give Preston (the Dark Green Horse) your support : http://www.manningforpremier.ca/index.asp
  8. Give 'em hell for me too. http://www.canada.com/montrealgazette/news...9c-a79d9959a407
  9. All I wanted was to show Black Dog that Preston has got it in the bag. But, like the saying goes ... "A man may well bring Black Dog to the water, but he cannot make him drink without he will."
  10. READ IT AND WEEP!!! http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/sto...PStory/National
  11. Just out of curiosity ... who are YOUR heros?
  12. Oh yeah! Every call centre I get seems to be manned by people from VERY deep in Dixie. It's sort of like listening to the Katrina victims. You know they're feeling pain but you have no damned idea what they're saying.
  13. Disagree. They made a hefty profit on their investment. I say we tax it. But seriously, should we annul all elections that didn't include the vote of women, Chinese, Aboriginals & cancel all laws enacted during those illegal regimes? Should we pay off the snakeheads bringing in illegal immigrants now if we grant them refugee status? And you live in a country that was wrongly taken period ... if you listen to our native folks. Ready to get back on the boat & go "home"? How much money is "enough" for that particular wrong? Too many questions & not enough money.
  14. Gee, you work for Walmart? What a waste.
  15. I disagree that Vietnam was a winnable war. As for Afghanistan ... You mean the Russian goverment on one side? The Americans on the other side? And Vietnam, and later Afghanistan, right smack in the middle? Those were the good old days!
  16. You defend that action?
  17. Something BD fogets is that Yodeler was RIGHT ON THE MONEY when he wrote a letter to the editor back on 27/06/00, stating ... "Today, there are Canadian politicians who are very successful heads of their provincial governments, thanks to Mr. Manning's ideas." Deborah Gray obviously knows Yodeler very well, for how else would she say in today's Vancouver Sun ... "Manning's mantra as Reform leader struck a chord in Alberta in 1993. Other governments across the country eventually followed suit." ?? Hmm?
  18. I'm glad that you like Iggy. And what about Presto? Both of my Lotus Land dailies are saying today that he's a heavy favorite and awfully close to entering the race. What do your Cow Town dailies have to say?
  19. I tried several times to click on it, but each and every time I get a "Forbidden by rating check" message.
  20. The bloody idiots have decided to give compensation to the Chinese for their head tax. People who VOLUNTARILY came to this country... looking for Gold Mountain. Families all chipped in & saved to get over one guy because they knew he'd be able to send back money & support the entire family. It was their ticket to wealth. AND THEY WERE RIGHT. The progeny of Grandpa who came over here are far wealthier than those who stayed in China, It was AN INVESTMENT that paid off ... in spades. Now it's a totally different story for the poor black folks. There they were, happily living in Africa, and people just grabbed them, took them to various countries & turned them into slaves. THAT was horrible. And if anyone should get compensation the descendents of Africans taken into slavery should. But VOLUNTARY immigration? Well .... Kennedy's grandparents had to face signs saying "Micks & Harps need not apply". Jews sat on boats in harbours because no one in North America wanted the "dirty Jews". There were Hunky's & DP's & Wops & our grandmothers weren't considered full human beings & couldn't vote. Times were different. Essentially if you weren't a male of British stock ... you weren't considered to be a proper human being. Let's compensate EVERYONE! Bring on the bucks!! I've picked out my condo in Hawaii!!!
  21. When YOU said Iggy, I was thinking Jaromir.
  22. SORRY! It worked when I put it out but now, a few hours later, the G & B changed it's mind, it seems, and you have to register now in order to to read "Iggy Pops" by the one and only LEAH McLAREN. At least it's FREE .... not like Asper's papers, who charge you big bucks for the privilege.
  23. Ever since Iggy tipped HIS hat the papers have been holding coronations not just on the front pages but ALL OVER THE PAPER FOR HIM .... even in the Globe's Style section: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/sto...ah+mclaren+iggy I hope that when Presto tips his hat he too will immediately be regarded as "much more than a pretty face".
  24. Luckily for Preston you two do not have as much influence on who replaces Ralph as Ralph does.
  25. Most brilliant men love their liquor and use it frequently for optimum performance. And yes, these men do lose their edge by the age of 65 and should consider retiring from very important positions. But it is a well known fact that those who do not need this brain-cell depleting crutch last much longer .... so I give Preston at least 15 more years before he starts losing his edge. Aah what the heck, considering how sharp that edge is, I give him 20!
