  1. normanchateau Concerning "Religious Conservatives" I wonder when a poll will be conducted to see how many homosexuals and secularist there are in the Liberal Party. It should be noted there are many more Christians in Canada then there are homosexuals or secularist. A post of this type could be seen as anti-Christian hate propaganda. I'd rather see Christians in the Consrvative Party any day.
  2. Kiraly You wrote- " Harper calls for special prosecutor to watch government." Looks like good guys can't win and according to local media looks like Quebec already rejected Harper's plan since the federal government would infringe on areas of provincial jurisdiction-particularly in Quebec. Peter MacKay could use some of that duct tape he talked earlier about silencing Mr.Clyne when he said "There's np way that this office, set up after the fact, would have anything to do with the sponsership program" he said adding it would not be able to prosecute future sponsership programs either. " It wouldn't it's not their role." Jack Layton called Mr. Harper's proposal " worrisome" because it appears to underminethe competence of the RCMP and other law inforcement agencies.
  3. normanchateau You wrote- " Didn't he propose putting a firewall around Alberta before he became CPC Party leader." How many prime ministers have we come out of FIREWALLED QUEBEC? You can not expect that Quebec is the only province in Canada worthy of being firewalled as it rubs off on other provinces who also want the same powers Quebec has wragled from federal authorities. It's insulting to insinuate a prime minister from Alberta is not competent to run the country. I've felt the same way about Quebec prime ministers and they have proven what kind of Canada they want and I say nix to that and am willing to give CPC the chance they deserve.
  4. The biggest contributor to the greenhouse effect is 'water vapour' and this coincides with population growth associated with everything that creates water vapour from the automobile to boiling a kettle full of water even breathing which also greatly contributes to the 'smog' problem which in turn along with the sun magnifies the 'greenhouse effect. We'll all end up choking to death yet- the globe just ain't big enough.
  5. The results are back already and for the second time this year voters rejected proportional representation. This is bad news and although this plebiscite was provincial in nature clearly reflects (the real reason) I suspect is the fear of possible federal disassociation with P.E.I. and the same can said about B.C. although the official reason given was different. This serves as an indicator the political stranglehold the Liberals have on Canada and change and support in the area of proportional representation will be hard to come by. The idea Canada is goverened as a single Party state is alive and well and looks like democratic chage will take a back seat to dictatorial government concerning provincial or federal governments. http://www.cbc.ca/story/canada/national/20...cite051128.html
  6. Black Dog You wrote- " Really, your jumping to conclusions and taking this into territory (immigration) that as little bearing on the issue at hand (the kidnapping of two humantarian aid workers). It is obvious Canadian aid workers would not likely be in Iraq initially if Canada had not harboured a fairly recently acquired significant enough population of Arab immigrants and this is DIRECTLY related to Canadian immigration. The press is lacking credibility in making this a front page story without being able to provide proper information and names of the workers involved. Mostly all previous violent incidents murder, kidnappings etc. including the outrageously expensive Mahar Arar case and similar cases involved Arab nationalities.
  7. scriblett This is certainly good news and ABOUT TIME. And why is it small province like P.E.I. would be one of the first to progress to a system of proportional representation in this case Mixed Member Proportional or MMP. The only concern I have is that the 60% requirement is a little high to establish this system and should be reduced to 50% or there is a possibility this system could never be established as with in the case of B.C. who rang in with 57% and will only get another chance to vote in this plebiscite in 2008. I to would like to see this MMP or similar at the federal level as our present system is simply not working to reflect a more democratic representation of the way Canadians feel.
  8. politika There is no information concerning the identity of these Canadians. This is another aspect of Canadian politics I feel has gone astray. This is the issue of dual citizenship. How do you know one is loyal to Canada especially when allowed to retain the citizenship of especially a third world volatile country. Why are new immigrants especially from third world Arab countries allowed to retain their citizenship and allowed to freely travel back to their troubled homeland and not only involving Canada in their plight when something happens but involving all Canadians with imported politics from another country. There are many Canadians who believe in Western standards and our form of democracy and do not wish to become entangled with another countries volatile political problems and try to maintain a Canadian identity and not become politically involved with another volatile countries political problems complete with a set if other values and identity. The immigration logic our current Liberal government uses defies all reasonable considerations concerning this issue and clearly shows the incompetentency of the Liberal government and the political spitefulness it has for long standing Canadian citizens.
  9. Shady Good post and what would we do with out having the good old U.S.A. as a neighbour, friend and ally even though there are some Canadians who will never see the light or understand the reality of maintaining world order for the benefit of all mankind. Things could be worse ---A LOT WORSE!!!
  10. mcqueen625 You wrote- "and some fled to Cuba" This is partly correct and there was a reason for this. Five FLQ terrorist were flown to Cuba as part of a deal for the life of British diplomat James Cross. They eventually (I think) ended up in France and then returned to Canada some if not all actually acquiring high paying federal public servic positons. This belongs in RIPLEY'S
  11. eureka You wrote- " I meant anti-democratic, Leafless, which is what you imply." You can see it the way you choose but my point is " anti-democratic" is not a dictionary word and un-Canadian is a dictionary word and means the same thing.
  12. Exactly how much the Liberals misappropiated and what is owed back to Canadians will probably never be known. Here is an article to help refresh your memories concerning ADSCAM allegations. http://www.canoe.ca/NewsStand/Columnists/O.../pf-989946.html
  13. PocketRocket You wrote- " But with such feeling about the preservation of, don't you think it's pointless to say things like " Hey Quebec get the hell out." That's your quote "Hey Quebec get the hell out" not mine. Yes, I do have strong feelings concerning the preservation of Canada but not the preservation of what it seems is Canada's national political sport 'Constitionial Roulette.' No, the barrell has been spun to many times thus retarding the the advancement of a more prosperous buisness related Canada and leaves the country mesmerized with continual constitionial problems originating from the same source. This is unfair to Canada as a whole and I for one would like to see this question answered via a national referendum concerning retaining Quebec in confederation.
  14. eureka You wrote- " I am curious, though, how that links with " You must be Liberal" and the rest of your thoughts that one must be anti-democratic for that reason." Oh, you must mean un-democratic. Anyone I know does not support Paul Martin's appointment concerning the GG and felt the process ignored the provinces in the way of more suitable candidates for the role of GG. I did not say you were un-democratic but 'appeared' simply more in line with Liberal ideologies than myself. If in fact you do desire a more democratic Canada-good for you and so do I.
  15. Yaro You wrote- " The judge did no such thing, he stated quite clearly that it was not proven that he was guilty." Previously Mr. Mulroney launched a $50-million defamation suit against the Canadian government concerning a smear campaign led by Jean Chretien and the Liberals. An out of court settlement saw the government publicly apoligize to Mr. Mulroney and pay his $2-million dollar legal fees. Later the RCMP cleared Mr. Mulroney. In this case Ontario Court Justice Paul Belanger found there was not even evidence to take Eurocopter to trial. This whole case surrounds contract fraud and the judge said "The criminal law does not exist to redress bad bargains or sharp conduct falling short of fraud." There was no illegal behavior --This makes Mr. Mulroney NOT GUILTY.
  16. Yaro You wrote- " So now nobody who isn't prosecuted successfully is guilty." When it comes to politics sometimes I suppose you can say that in an unproven form. In Mulroney's case a court judge cleared him of any allegations after an RCMP investigation proved nothing. This is unlike Jean Chretien who is not being investigated by the RCMP but by a Commission which lacks legal teeth to really anything meaningful. I am no way patting Mr. Mulroney on the back but am simply glad to see this 'Airbus affair' come to an end after years of unsubstantiated 'hen pecking' which is fairly minor compared to ADSCAM anyways concerning the level of corruption and amount of dollars involved. This reply could also address thelonius concerns.
  17. Pocket Rocket You wrote- " Please tell us what makes you more Canadian then someone who lives in Quebec." Every one in Canada who is a Canadian citizen is a Canadian. I am not any more Canadian than anyone else. But when it comes down to federalistic loyalities and patronage to Canada as a country as in comparison to someone who patronizes their province as a country, then yes I certaintly can view myself as as a more patriotic federal loyalist and one who believes in national political parties concerning national federalistic goals for the preservation of Canada as a country.
  18. eureka You wrote- " I am pleased to see that the GG's daughter is adapted (sic). Now if you can only adapt youself to an unbiased view of political happenings. I to am certain the GG's adopted daughter has adapted well to what I am sure the child must consider 'her adult lifestyle' that surely is cheating her out of what every one else expects at that age, a child's lifestyle. We all age quickly enough especially without fast tracking a child into the ugly world of politics which could also be seen as exploitation of the child in an effort to buy public favouritism and support to cover her separatist allegations. This post is to highlight the unsubstantiated, unpatriotic political situations that continually supported and are encouraged to unfold in this country and could very well appear to be biased to You as it appears you must be Liberal and cannot understand any Canadian wanting a sense of order, patriotic leanings and responsible democratic government. It should be noted that in fact your post are NOT error free but most intelligent individuals simply adjust there brains to read the word the way it is suppose to be spelled and simply carry on without making it an issue.
  19. Glancing through a few articles I have come to the conclusion Canada is on the verge of a nervous breakdown. - An Ottawa university professor claiming the Clarity Act is not strong enough to stop Quebc separation and the feds have been 'asleep at the switch.' Maybe it should be the other way around and Canadians are asleep at the switch and should have thrown Quebec out of confederation years ago. - Ralph Kline pictured smiling with his arm around Beverly Jacobs at yesterday's first minister conference in Kelowna B.C. I mean has this man come out of hiding so soon after insulting the official leader of the opposition Conservative Stephen Harper with dire statements concerning the upcoming federal election. - Natives just won $5-billion dollar support package for everthing from schools, housing, to what -boosting accountability?? I always thought Natives wanted to hunt and fish and are not interested in man's modern ways. You know Natives are always welcome to move to the big cities if they choose instead of moving big cities out to the middle of the bush at tremendous cost. This is simply paving the way for TAX PAYER supported independent socities -who's next -Quebec?-Immigrant groups??? - Controversial Governor General Michael Jean who has been from the start dragging around her six year old adapted daughter -everywhere, even at her official swearing in ceremony---professional conduct -you tell me. - Paul Martin leader of the corrupt Liberals demanding an apology from Conservative Stephen Harper's accusations Thursday when in fact it should be the Liberals apologizing and insisting Harper is right and correct with his accusations. - But on a good note --Brian Mulroney won a successful Crown appeal and was shown that that allegations against Mulroney in the 'Airbus scandal' have no legal legs at all--it's all over for all you diehards who thought Mulroney was a guilty man in all of this.
  20. Black dog You wrote- " Were a democracy. Submitting to the authority (even in a ceremonial way) to an unelected ruler of a foreign country is antithetical to the principles of a democracy." It should be noted the Queen holds no citizenship, British or Canadian. She cannot be a British citizen or Canadian as her Majesty is the bestower of citizenship for ALL countries she is head of state. It's her democracy, she is more Canadian than you are. She granted you Canadian citizenship- I presume you are Canadian.
  21. politica While I don't want to sound unsympathetic concerning this whole situation I feel there is something definitely wrong with the operators of these vehicles and in fact possibly the training these military personnel receive. Maybe they are simply over confident. Military equpipment is not made for general safety but rather to suit the needs of the enviroment or operation to get the job done. This is the seventh roll over the military has experienced and most have been blamed on DRIVER ERROR.
  22. Maybe what moderate american really meant was 'Happy thanks giving those Liberals the boot.' Harper 'all the way.'
  23. Argus You wrote- " I thought we were bringing in immigrants because of skills shortage" "They don't speak English either" " The system is not designed with Canada's needs or welfare in mind" Then there is only one other possible scenario to consider and that is they are bringing them in under a political disguise to accomplish another politcal Liberal motive. I wonder if the Liberals are purposely trying to add chaotic cultural conditions to cover the cutural aspirations of Quebec in it's quest for the political domination of Canada. This of course is partly speculative but not entirely not feasable.
  24. Joe Volpe should really be the last person in Canada NOT to understand the gun culture in Toronto as IMMIGRATION Minister. This is all part of the Liberals CARE FREE plan to make certain that all cultures except White Anglo Christians feel at home to spread violence, un-Christian and un-Canadian-U.S. ideologies lifestyles. Now they don't UNDERSTAND what went wrong and are trying to find an excuse and point fingers like at 50 cent. The Liberals make me puke.
  25. I thought Ralph Kline was off the bottle. I think Sharkman could have a point with a dislike for Harper. But there is no doubt about it the Charter has dissolved Conservatism and for all practical purposes the Conservatives will be seen 'to far Right' and unfortunately not much can be done about this unless the Conservatives stoop to the level of the Liberals or something is done with the Charter to eliminate the socialistic leanings in favour of the Liberals. Nevertheless this is no way for Ralph Kline to treat a fellow Conservative especially at a time like this. UNBELIEVABLE.
